Is GG#4 still all that ??

Just wondering with all the strains out there is GG#4 still near the top of the heap for those who grow it and hold it ?? I finally got a cut from a reputable source and just this week took cuts for a run of it in a few weeks or so.

I lost it and I DESPERATELY want it back!!!!!

Yield....check
Potent...check
Easy to grow...check
Flavor....check

Yep!

That being said, current strain that seems to be stacking up to the hype is MAC. Never smoked it so can't say for sure, but those who's opinions I value seem to like it a lot.

I bought 2 cuts at a show and they had like broad mites or something I had to throw them out, super bummed about that.

My cut of it is all knocked up with headbanger seeds. Had it in the back corner of the room for a few years only running it occasionally. Someday if I crave that flavor maybe I will grow out those seeds. Maybe the headbanger will fix up that glutard buzz that I do not like.

Just this guy, ya know?
It's still at the top of my list for sure. I'm in Western Mass and can supply cuts of the GG if given enough lead time. I'm also working through a bunch of F1 GG x my Hybrid Haze looking for fire. Found a couple with the bud structure of the GG, but nothing that gets me as high, yet.

The reason I ask is I just recently was gifted a cut of OGKB and would run a side by side of them with my gifted cut of glue but seems glue only goes about 67 days or so and OGKB is supposed to go 75. Right now I got a couple Super Lemon Haze cuts going along side a couple Ohio Death Star plants and they supposedly both go 75 days and I have to chop all on the same day. I use my tent for drying after chop so whatever I grow has to all be harvested same day. Im almost to day 50 and I need to take cuts off my moms to get ready in my clone/mom boxes for next round. I went in less than a year to having only my one keeper Headbanger to having 4 more strains that I have acquired. Have not grown out the glue or OGKB as of yet. Thats next. Still looking for my holy grail strain.

Tony Green just released a recombinant inbred GG4 that's probably a pretty damn good option
I had GB BX3 and kept one from seed run and ran a 4 of those from my keeper but I let it go by accident.

I've been pulling my glue between 8 and 9 weeks I think, looking at my horribly organized calendar. I wish you the best of luck keeping that many strain clones going. I get nervous every time I have one GG left until the clones start popping roots, it can be nerve wracking with 1 strain, I can only imagine with 4.

I have enough room that I keep 2 of each strain in 5" square pots as in the Bonsai mom thread. I have room for one more strain maybe two. I wouldn't like just having one mom but I have figured out even if the moms get even just basic care and water the cannabis plant is pretty frigging hard to kill. Not a lot of effort just water every few days and some fert once a month and when I make teas for the grows I put some on the moms.

I have a problem too many acquiring strains. Every few years I try to select a worthwhile male or so. Knock up all my favorites. Kill off all but my very favorites and begin starting more seeds. I have slowly went from acquiring clones and starting a few seeds to starting more seeds and acquiring only the clones I am sure are special. Too starting mostly seeds from my crosses and for the most part losing interest in getting new clones. It also is nice to have a fat sack of seeds so if something does happen or I want to totally shut down. Its only a matter of time before I find something special again.

I still love it. Chemy, choco funk.
In fact just today I forgot to turn the carbon filter back on after a tidy up,
Bamo! Chemy Skunk funk punches you in the face.
...man was I relieved when it kicked on.

Just keep your mom's healthy and keep replacing her every few months for your most healthy clone.
Probably need to start a couple of my HeadBanger since one is about a year and a half old and the second is about a year. I have seen the thread about how old some moms are and its amazing to read some have gone over a decade easy. If my moms were in bigger pots and taller it would be easier to keep them that long. I should take the advice and start new ones when they get 6 months or so.

You can keep them going for years but it's easy to pick up viruses that start to slow vigour and yield.
From talking with cats who've kept clones for near 20 years,
all say to take many clones as often as you can.
Just depends on situation your in.

I think I'm popping too many amber trichs if I wait to 10 weeks. First few plants I wasn't sure when to harvest so I think I started taking some at 7, and most at about 8, then I left some for 9 and 10. If I remember right the 10 weeks was higher % of amber than I would like, personally. But everybody is smoking for a different reason, so the high I'm chasing isn't necessarily the high you are chasing.

We have some seed from a project.

Also hybridized Green Gelato x GG.

Have the GTE x GG friends like! And now finishing a seeded GG#4. Will wonders never cease!!! ;o)

Great strain, do doubt. I'm one that likes to try them all!!!

Planting GMO (Garlic/Mushroom Onion, an offshoot from Garlic Cookies) from OR, supposedly 30% thc. We'll see. Also Oregon Pinot Noir! Fun! Fun! Fun!

STAY SAFE ONE & ALL!
