Info on The Real Seed Company?

QUOTE= I'm one of the 5 pack buyers and was a little disappointed I didn't get the high cbd options this time however I made a few thousand seeds and have just started a pheno hunt.

You'd probably have better luck finding that high CBD genotype in a relatively smaller population of genetically diverse seeds (ie. buying more seeds to start) compared to pheno hunting from those 1000 seeds originating from 5 seeds where the females didn't display the traits you were looking for.

That raises a good question that has already been asked. I think offering larger packs for some of the landrace variants would be a good solution to this sort of predicament.

Perhaps construtive criticism is overlooked because TRSC is the only game in town and they are doing what no other company out there is doing (and without a doubt, I'm grateful for the opportunity they give us all). This doesn't mean there isn't room for improvement.

I can confirm for Manipuri. I have grown 2 plants and one is a real killer but they were both great, great tropical fruit aroma and stunning potency
me too, that line that was offered a few years back was very consistent and seems to have had a lot of selective pressure already. I had 2 females, both outstanding quality and decently potent.

I like the old description from tom hills haze. If I remember right it said the truly electric individuals are found about 1 out 15. Whatever you think of the odds I myself like the honesty.

After growing for a while I learned to be leary of strains claiming to be clones like with no variation. Not that that is a bad thing. It just screams uniformity which in many cases also means really great plants with average finished product. I prefer to find amazing plants and soon forget their sisters.

I would love to take on a preservation project with a landrace type. Whenever I try to think about which I go a little nuts thinking about all the option and how the may compliment my own preferences. Best I can think is someone needs to start sending my samples of as many finishes samples as possible.

Lol

I do actually intend to check out a few. Sinai has caught my eye a few times and all the sativas sounds fun.

Hi ngakpa,

would also love to see bigger seed packs. Why are you not offering bigger seed packs only on your website? Would be very nice, then I have not to put everytime at least 3 or more packs in my cart ;)

fair point and noted

yes, Manipur is a traditional ganja culture region

it's totally overlooked in Western understanding of Asian tropical 'sativas', which focuses above all on Thailand

Meitei ganja culture is as important as Lao and Thai. The Meiteis are the lowland ethnic group of Manipur. They're Hindus, though they look like Thais or Burmese

Meitei growers and farmers understand to keep seeds from their best buds each year to sown next season, so there have been countless generations of selection for potency, aroma, flavour

another reason that Manipur is overlooked is that export ganja from Manipur is nothing like the real thing grown by Meiteis for local consumption. The export ganja is grown by Naga tribes in the highlands. Naga people have been doing this for centuries, but they don't smoke themselves. Their plants are interesting, but not in the same class as a good Meitei ganja plant.

The plan is to have Manipuri seeds back in 2019

honestly, if people are looking to breed landraces for potency, ganja cultigens are what they should be focusing on: Manipuri, Kerala, Malawi, Thai, Swazi, Lao

I know when I see an order from someone who likely understands that, because it has plenty of seeds of one ganja strain, plus plenty of a resin line like Lebanese or Mazari

you're welcome, enjoy!

but just to add, 'F2s' is not the right term here

the Afropips' Malawi Gold was maintained outside Malawi for many generations by 'Malawi Jim'

TRSC has always been for real with me. My emails are answered within a short period, usually much faster than I anticipate.

As far as quality, you need to remember that this is not a seed factory in Holland. These are landraces or heirlooms that may vary in what actually grows out. It is worth noting that something that you grow may be not what you expect in the initial seed popping but hidden are genetics that could blow you away in the next generation. You just don't know.

I have very respected experienced grower friends that proclaim that seeds they popped exceeded expectations by a long ways. Some tell me that the ones they popped are now their favorite strain.

TRSC will have an announcement in the near future.

I will leave the thunder to Angus. :)

think it was 5 i seem to remember all the others being quite strong mangoey smell a male i used was mango smelling to,,so one in 6 for me one in 5 females,,she was near an acapulco gold male and ive got a few seeds from her somewere off that cross

I would prefer the packs are big enough to find a good to great pheno in every pack. 10, 25 100. I get they are unworked. Thats what makes them special. I personally have no interest in plants not worth growing again and any pack I order I have hopes of finding winners. This goes for all packs. I have considered RSC a few times but between not shipping to usa and so many more reviewed strains to buy I just have not tried any yet.

Sunleaf Seed Co. offers 24 packs of Sinai and Lebanese over at East Coast Seed Bank. They are from an open pollination using RSC seed stock, it's a good option for people that do not want to order from outside the US.
