Indoor Vertical Grow Systems 101

I've spent probably 40 hours in the past 7 days reading about verts and gone full circle. I think I need to step away from the computer...lol.

I've been reading extensively about Heath's Aquafarm set-up, and frankly I don't get it. I'll take it as a sign: it's too complicated for me at this point in my hydroponic career.

I'm drawn to the GH and coir D2W method of "bluehaze" for obvious reasons. However...I'm working with a 12 plant total max for this grow, with 6 flowering and 6 veg. In a 10x10 room with 5K lighting, it looks like a 5 gallon GH/coir copycat idea isn't a good one if I can only do 6 plants max. It seems one must get the plant count up with this style in order to get in the vicinity of a "heath style" or "doubled" grow with low plant numbers.

Sorry for the noob questions, I know I'm all over the place. Ignore me if my banter is too elementary. Don't know which way to go here.

Thanks again to all of you for sharing your wisdom. The knowledge floating around here is unreal..

"elementary banter" is what we are all about...we call it "free association" or "synergy"..........welcome!

I`ve sent more folks than I can remember to "BlueHaze`s" thread in coco , cuz RDWC`s too easy ta cause total crop failure outta nowhere from what I`ve witnessed many places over many yrs.......

Coco`s the closest thing to explosive hydroponic growth in veg there is if done right and fed by an automated setup.......Once I converted my mom plants to DTW like BH showed me , I could take 100`s of cuts every couple weeks , go back for more couple weeks later , and the plants looked like they`d never been touched.......

Heathie`s setups are definitely intermediate grower skill dependent IMO , as well as all the other water culture setups that so closely resemble his "souped up" waterfarm/aquafarm thingy , along with his new bigger bottom container setup here lately......

Once I swapped all my ebb and flow bucket rooms over to my version of Heath`s vertical racks , it was just a numbers game for the gpw`s with more plants for bottom line yields , just like the ebb and flow bucket flip rooms......

Thingshappenin......I`ve got growbro`s in medville that do perpetual setups with bigger plants where they add pre-vegged plants to the bloom rooms every couple weeks or so strain dependent , and always have a couple finishing while others are gettin vegged , pruned , trimmed , and shaped for optimal lumen penetration sideways into the plants for max swellage once they stop stretchin after bein put into 12/12 with the bare bulbs.........

Many ways ta skin a mule......just gotta wrap yer head around it and make a plan on how best to keep 6 plants flowerin/finishin and veggin without goin over scrip limits........

BH`s DTW coco fed once a day`s pretty babyshit simple and very effective though , ya know ?.......

Good luck...DHF.......:ying:...

Has anyone tried Sour Diesel trees? Good enough stretch for sure. I'm not so sure if the branches will hold up though.

Indoor vertical grow systems generally fall into 4 categories. These are Vertical SOG, Vertical SCROG, Stadium/Coliseum Style Grows, and Tree/Bush Grows.

So based on the percentage of extra space shown here in the pics, circular grows would yield more than stadiums because of the space used. But why do stadiums yield more? Can someone please elaborate?

Also, is coloseum another name for vertical circular grow?

Maybe because in stadium grows, you have more rows, instead of just one in a vertical circular grow. Each plant hides the pot of the next row but not others buds like in strictly vertical setup. I think you have both benefits of horizontal and vertical growing. Thickness of canopy isn't the same.

Pretty sure that Coliseum grows would be considered the "vertical grow circular" for mega plant counts using that 135.5 sq ft with stacked bulbs and many many plants on many levels to maximize gpw`s from such an area......but......

Gotta luv da "weed doughnuts" with as many plants around a single bulb that can be kept from growin into each other and competing for light and environment.....and then.....

There`s plants on all 4 walls x 8 x 8 , PLUS whatchas could run on the floor with a weed doughnut for seriously increased yields with around 300 sq ft minus stacked lights and shelves/racks well over doubling that 135.5 sq ftg huh ?.....

Red`s runnin a "flat" bed under his spread out bare bulbs that looks dangerous for max sq ft coverage in his new setup.........

Lotta power and knowledge bein spread round this forum....Stick around Boodha.....guaranteed it`ll rub off.....

Peace...DHF.....:ying:.....

an update for those who helped me in this thread/were wondering: I'm currently running 12 plants, 2000 watt veg, 6000 watt flower in a super-easy drain to waste system. Plants are in the now-famous diamond pattern for trees per expert advise in this thread (thanks again). No scrog or anything else, totally free-ballin. I'll take pics in the next few days.

It's roughly a 60/40 sativa/indica. I'll be moving them to the flower room any day now. It's my first time with this strain. Honestly I'll be thrilled with 2500 grams. Hoping like hell strategically cracked windows will work and I won't have spring for AC/dehuy in this Midwestern summer flower!

Hey Labtec. I wonder what the diffirence is in final result!

Did you use the same strains in both rounds?

What is the improvement in the latest round picture? I guess it is the climate that must be better down there. I'm not sure about that though.

I'm pretty sure my current round is going to produce less. I was in a rush to get two runs in before I move out, so I didn't veg my girls near as much as I wanted too. The strains are a lot different, this round I am running mostly Super Lemon Haze plants, and my previous run was all OG Kush.

Awesome, thanks for the sticky. I guess this means I should update the links section...

Look for an update soon.
