Hey ya'll everything is looking good I am coming up the hill for a visit after I get plugged in so get ready for me Ganja D!! LOL!

HL - We need to put that HK/GF/BB/BK on to The DOG...

because I pretty much only talk about growing cannabis and now Ms. Ganja D will finally get some peace and quiet.
my wife feels her pain, Im the same way.

I have a bunch of amigos in Fort Bragg that are telling me that the LEO up there have turned on the dick switch and are hardtiming the local farmers. They all worked on the charter boats in Noyo harbor and since the fishing semi-shut down, they have looked to side work for $$, now they are telling me that outdoor (for most) is not going as strong this year?
I hope everything is safe for ya'll and it continues to be a beautiful season.

yer shit looks fawkin sweet! Im jealous big time.

Most people around here haven't been working as hard or as long as HL and Ganja D and Ms Ganja D have been...Shit I had some neighbors leave a note on my gate that they're back from vacation and were wondering if I had any big extras...

I found your views on moving to NorCal pretty interesting.

After a Ive watched few documentaries and done some research, I think a grower that's forced to grow indoor in a non medical state takes the same risk, if not less than an outdoor op like the one you have running.

I have family close to you, and i think id rather stay put. much respect to you tho.

Thanks for checking us out Mez, I couldn't agree more. There are a lot better places to be growing and people should stay where they are.:)

Nice updates HL and Mr Ganja D, thats a tunnel of love there.

that blueberry hindu kush cross you have. would that be a purple pheno of hindu kush or is there such a thing as hindu kush blueberry? i have an hk i grew out from seed and kept the best most mold resistant, best growing smoking one but its basically purple. very very strong blueberry scent to it too man. Im just wondering if thats a common pheno of the hindu or what. ahh theyll prob ably rename it to gdp or something ridiculous at the club anyways.

The Hindu Kush/Blueberry supposedly is a seed from Sagarmatha that came to our neighborhood at least eight years ago. I have worked with it for the last five or six years. It really wasn't acclimated to our area when we got it and was very susceptible to mold, PM and mites. Now as you can see she looks right at home. That is what most people don't realize when buying seeds to grow outdoors is that it can take years and some local hybridization to get what should be a good strain to be a great strain. Most of the seeds these breeders sell have not been tested outdoors by the time they are released and people think there buds will look just like the pictures from under the 1000 watt lights. Also every region is different and the plants will react differently. I have gotten many strains over the years that most people would have just tossed out after one season. Some of them had unique traits I knew I could work with, but it is not an over night thing it takes years. It didn't have any purple to it at all when we first got it. The color you see mostly comes from the Blackberry that it has been bred with. With this project I have actually been trying to make a seed strain that more closely resembles the Blackberry clone in look and smoke but with the vigor and size of a seed strain. Here is a pic of the pure Blackberry clone that I have been trying to get it to resemble.
picture.php

See any resemblance? I think I am getting there. The seed strain now has a near identical smell, smoke, and the lovely purple calyxes that have made the Blackberry a favorite in my neighborhood. The whole plant doesn't get as dark but give me a couple more years.:)

Any time bro, we will be gang-banging the Dog from every which way this year.:)

They are a lot harder on growers in Mendocino. They have a less supportive community and the law enforcement really makes the effort to give people a hard time.

Thanks Planty, We have been busting our asses. Seams like a lot of people take the spring time lightly. I know that is where your whole season is created and the blueprint for success is mapped out. I always try to hold myself and my helpers to as high a standard as possible. We owe it to the herb, to our patients, and to ourselves to put everything we have into this. I try to have as few regrets at the end of the season as possible. That is one of the main goals.

Today we finally had some decent weather at HumboldLocal's and took full advantage of it. Didn't come in to clean up and start dinner till almost 8 pm.
Here is a picture of some of the hoops that have been keeping our plants and warm and dry during our recent bout with mother nature.

It really is awesome. I was skeptical at first, lots of work. But the truth is the plants and their roots have stayed nice and toasty even in sub freezing night temps. The results, all our plants have taken off with new healthy growth almost immediately after transplanting to their final homes.
A lot of people in our area have had trouble with plants adjusting to being planted this year because of the weather, but another reason HL's plants have done so well is the strength and health of the roots. I like to think the more you do for your plants roots, the more your plants will do for you. Too often I see friends plants with roots that are healthy but not as healthy as they could be. Just paying meticulous attention to your plants and giving them what they tell you they need is all it takes. I like my roots to be so thick and so bright white you need sunglasses to view them. These roots are a bit more root bound then intended, but they are freaking out and growing in every possible direction at warp speed. After planting this plant into a 300 gallon smart part pot it showed no sign of shock and only started growing faster.

Here are a few pics of one of HL's strains,PTWxGF(Purple Trainwreck x Graperfruit). This is some special herb. It grows fast and strong. It smells amazing early into the vegetation stages. Fruity sweetness with a little skunky undertone, very pungent. It grows huge dense flavorful buds. I could go on a lot about this strain.

Lots more to come and lots more work to do.

Thanks for posting those pics Ganja D:) The PTW x GF is a great strain I have been working with for at least 7-8 years and one of the building blocks for several of my strains. It makes massive smelly colas and has a tendency for pink hairs. A super hardy well acclimated strain that always pleases and looks sexy in the garden too.:) Some pics from last year.

hl- did you have to pay 30 bucks shipping per box for the texas cages? i found em online for 99 bucks per 6 plus 30 bucks shipping, even if ordering several boxes and if you want 1 extra like 25 instead of 24 you still have to pay 30 bucks shipping just for 1. i'm sold on em and don't mind paying 16 bucks for each one but the shipping seems high.. :dunno:

They sell em at Spare Time in Willits if i am not mistaken. Or a simulacrum of them. Somebody needs to come out with Gargantuan Ganja Cages... more frequent tiers and wider.

the cages are really nice but a bit on the expensive side. why not just use some hd tomato cages they seem to do the work and cheap. Really curious on what people are going to be doing for the support and the setup they will be making.
HL looks great man, will be looking forward to seeing this grow go on.

Thanks RW, it's fun isn't it? Looking forward to seeing what you've been up to on your farm.

Today was a good day of work here at HL's. You won't hear me admit this often but I'm actually a bit tired. HL told me 4 days of rain is in the forecast. Normally I'd be freaking out but with the hoops protecting the plants I can relax and smoke a fat on and keep on working.
I took some pictures today of one of HL's most beautiful strains. PTW/GF x GF/P(Purple Trainwreck/Grapefruit x Graperfruit/Purple f2's and f3's. This may be HL's strain that impresses me the most. The plants are so strong and healthy. I'm beginning to realize how accustomed to this climate they really are. Seems like they grew 6 inches in every direction today. For F3's they grow faster then most F1's I've grown out and the phenotype range has really been narrowed down. They have a strong symmetrical structure and one pheno is bushier than the other with fatter leaves. Both stink and smell amazing. HL let me have a big say in which plants are being grown and we have a ton of these. I hand picked the ones we planted and selected plants for amazing smell, thick strong branches and tight internode spacing to support huge monster buds. I also look for plants that show early signs that they feed heavy and have fast growing roots, one's that seem like they could grow themselves. It's a luxury to choose. Last year I was helping HL with his harvest and this herb was so beautiful. I can't wait to smoke it again.

Yeah we had some fun on the farms today.:) The plants are taking off like I have never seen before. These hoops are a godsend and I am blown away by the growth we are seeing. So worth the extra work and cost.
The PTW/GF x GF/P is one of my pride and joys. She has really come a long way over the years and has developed into something real special. I have two phenos that I have developed. One has pink hairs and the other is more purple and green. I love them both and the smoke is always a huge hit at the trim scenes not to mention she is a world class yielder with amazing bag appeal. When I say these colas are hard, I mean hard like a baseball bat. She also trims up real nicely in the Twister which some strains don't. That is actually something I am taking into consideration with some of the breeding projects this year. Here are some pics from last year.
