^^ that's the thing that I'm amazed by most. :chin:

I generally don't reeeeaaaaally have to worry about prossecution over here even though it's illegal, but someone living in a medical mj state in the draconian US is still better off.

Thats 100% correct Alex. While I was in the damn it was odd for me....smoking there was "technically" illegal, yet tolerated, but here in California smoking, for medicinal reasons, is "technically" legal, and somewhat tolerated.

Strange indeed. Again, I wish there was more the people could do to fight something like this. Not many countries have the safeguards the USA has in situations like this and it upsets me that our Federal Government takes this stance and bullies other nations with drug laws. This has been going on for decades...its not a Democrat or Republican thing at all...its just corrupt politicians and money of course.

That's the thing. Our law was changed in '94 and it was said that medical test and everything have to be done to decide on what happens then. Now independent testing has been done (well, looooong done and finnished) and all relevant paperwork filed, books written and god knows what else, saying that no negative or harmfull effects have been found by the use of cannabis, and the goverment still doesn't change anything about the law. And I mean these investigations were done in contract for the german goverment! :fsu:

i don't know what the actual law in holland says. but i do know that i was sitting there talking to a cop with a joint in my mouth, while they were controlling barney's coffee shop. i had close to 50 g of weed in my rucksack. the cop was very polite, although they told everyone to leave in no uncertain terms, lol. 2 hours later barney's was open again for trade.

i mean how much more legal can you get? all they checked was that there was not more then the allowed 500 g of cannabis products on the premises.

it was probably their way of telling the coffee shops that the 500 g limit is still applicable even during the cc, lol.

the point though, is this, tell me one other country where the above situation would end in such a reasonable way. in most countries everyone would have been searched and those with more then a few g would get a house search too

that's interesting, but why would they make seeds illegal while decriminalizing personal use?

why can't they just open their eyes to all the benefits legalization of cannabis would bring? specially the environmental benefits. it's only the pharma, oil and weapons industry that's against cannabis and they are against it only because they see a potential profit loss to their sectors.

the pharma industry fears a natural replacement to some 50% of their products. if not more, through indirect consequences.

while the oil companies fear any alternative energy source.

and the weapons industries fear that mankind learns to hate war. the use of cannabis makes one a more thoughtful and peaceful human being in general.

but they want us to use alcohol which has the opposite effect and makes one stubborn and fighting mad. specially if you have nothing to toke to balance it out again, lol.

how long do you think humanity would continue to tolerate leaders who start wars for personal profit? if we were given a real choice in the matter?

i know it sounds a bit extreme, but the cannabis plant has the potential to save the human race as well as this planet from total destruction. we can not go on burning up our resources at this rate. some thing has to be done. hemp provides answers to quite a few problems that are plaguing us.

here i go again, lol. laters...

Interesting...everything I have read has said use is technically illegal yet tolerated.

"Cannabis remains a controlled substance in the Netherlands and both possession and production for personal use are still misdemeanors, punishable by fine. Coffee shops are also illegal according to the statutes.

However, a policy of non-enforcement has led to a situation where reliance upon non-enforcement has become common, and because of this the courts have ruled against the government when individual cases were prosecuted.

This is because the Dutch Ministry of Justice applies a gedoogbeleid (policy of tolerance or allowance policy) with regard to soft drugs: an official set of guidelines telling public prosecutors under which circumstances offenders should not be prosecuted. This is a more official version of the common practice in other countries, in which law enforcement sets priorities as to which offenses are important enough to spend limited resources on.

Proponents of gedoogbeleid argue that such a policy offers more consistency in legal protection in practice, than without it. Opponents of the Dutch drug policy either call for full legalization, or argue that laws should penalize morally wrong or decadent behavior, whether this is enforceable or not.

In the Dutch courts, however, it has long been determined that the institutionalized non-enforcement of statutes with well defined limits constitutes de facto decriminalization. The statutes are kept on the books mainly due to international pressure and in adherence with international treaties."

I couldn't agree more. This is what I was touching on when I spoke of the irony....technically, here in California, I have more legal protection, but in Holland SOCIETY has come to the proper understanding. Sure, there are certain counties within California that may be more in favor of marijuana than others, but in general there is still quite a stigma amongst the general population.

Fundamentally, I believe people should be left alone unless they are hurting someone else or damaging property. Its called freedom and I believe every human being has, at their core, the right to be free. Government tends to get larger and more intrusive as time passes....that is until the people rise up and put the politicians in their place.
