Tied a piece of jute twine around the base of bottle and soaked it in a flammable liquid (paraffin), lit the string on fire and let it heat up, dunked it in a pail of cold water and the base popped off. Used some stainless steel mesh with opening size of 117 microns (could use finer) for a filter, it allows no noticeable contaminants and doesn't restrict flow like a coffee filter. Drilled hole in cap with drill, tin foil to cover seal of cap- helps to secure cap also, use a bottle capper to put the cap on but can use pliers if careful.

Holds about an ounce.

Nope, I've done about 10 runs with it no problems, though I did crack the neck of another bottle trying to recap it- just needed better technique - now I just crimp it if needed then snap it on with my thumb

I know, old thread. But a goodie!

My question is this: Instead of normal 12 oz and can of butane, could a 40 oz and three cans of butane be sub'd for a larger production run?

I've not done that with a big bottle but have always wanted to cram an empty 5th and shoot 3-4 cans thru it, I have done it with a big stainless tubes (200+gms) back in the OG days and used 3 cans of tane if I remember right and had no problems.

I saw pics of a huge stainless tube about 3' (1m) round and 6'(2m) tall in mexico, they hooked up a propane system to it and made gallons of oil, which they then used to make some kind of jelly hash, they had a butt load of this stuff, had me drooling at the scale of it.

Aha! So a foh-oh is feasable! Or at least in theory. Gonna have to get myself in a postion to try.

I made one of those ,,( thanks for the inspreation Maximo) just like bumble buddy did . I been enjoying BHO for the first time. A really clear high. I do have one question ....I cut the bottom of the bottle off and stuffed the bottle full of popcorn buds and a little trim, Used one can of butane ..Vector... Should I have used more butane??? I need to make some more .....

Just made my own BHO axtractor, and did a little test run. I didn't fill the bottle at all, and i didn't grind my popcorn buds before extracting. I used about half a bottle of buthane lighter gas, bud no oil came out, only the butane...

So where do i go from here?
Do i grind the weed before bho'ing AND does it have to be jam packed to have an effect?

I used to BHO with a pvc tube but changed to a ss turkey baster program for the potential health concerns pvc may have. I just tried the beer bottle extraction and have a question. How much liquid should come through into my collection container? I use 10 oz bottles of vector and seem to get 2 oz or so that comes through. And not alot of product. Most seems like it is still in the material and not coming through. I noted this problem using the baster also.

The old pvc tube seemed to drain alot more tane into the container and have alot more product for an end result. The pvc system was capped with pull off ends and the drain end had a few holes in it with coffee filter. There was always a alittle pressure in the tube with this method. Does pressure help to keep the tane in liquid form? Longer contact and better drainage?

I have enjoyed making and utilizing BHO for 10 years. Just curious to gain some thoughts on my observations

great idea i was just looking online for glass tubes to use....

for those of ya'll w/o a dremel tool

1.fill the bottle half way with water.
2.hold(by the neck of bottle) in one hand w/the rim of the bottle just barely above the top of your fist.
3.use your dominant hand and w/the lower palm strike the rim of the bottle. the pressure from the strike should knock the bottom of the bottle off. if not you will hear a donk from the bottle. try a little harder..... but be careful not to bruise your hand. this will also make for a great bar trick.

Are you serious? I am definitely trying that the next time I am having a beer.

take it to a Japanese restaurant and let them cut the bottle bottom off with a katana

If you have a tile saw, that works very well.i cut 2 that way. Draw your line on the bottle then turn the bottle slowly to cut around the bottle. Waer safety glasses for a just in case.

beer bottle is too wide really, baster should be ok tho.. too wide a tube, not much tane makes it thru it seems.
