MyGrassIsBlue posted this link to bottle cutting, on this thread/topic on another site and I though it would be a good ideal to add it here to :)

http://www.cowtown.net/mikefirth/bottle.htm

some pretty good info in mikes bottle cutting tutorial.

Thanks MGIB and the rest of my m8's for the kind words, peace y'all.

If you have some emery paper to sand down the sharp glass edges you can skip the whole dremel drill step of the operation by using your (two) hands to whack the bottom off beer bottles. Saves a hella lot of time too.

It doesnt always result in a clean bottom breakage but from my experience its about 70% much like this guys first time. Just follow the guys instructions on the video.

Heres another way of cutting a glass bottle:

Cut a piece of filter or blotting paper in two narrow strips, moisten same and paste around the bottle, each piece of paper parallel to the other, leaving between them a narrow space, marking the place where you want to cut the bottle. Now hold the bottle over the flame of a spirit lamp and turn slowly so that the bare space is heated evenly; after about a minute the glass will break quite clean and will only need to be filed smoothly to take off the sharp edges.

Good old Maximo,

hadn't seen this little beaut of a thread yet, as always you're an inspiration.

i was also wishing for some glass tubes for making bho. but never thought about using beer bottles, even though i have a good hand at breaking the bottom out of bottles from the hot knife days.

fill a sink with water, submerge the bottom of the bottle in the water, now drop a heavy metal butter knife grip first down the neck of the bottle, it normally takes the bottom off, clean enough for hot knifes. the other thing is to use a glass cutter, make the scratch, tap the glass along the scratch, making a crack appear along the scratch you make with the glass cutter. and it comes clean off.

anyway sir Maximo von Bubble, :D another cool tutorial in the mysterious ways of trichome concentration :biglaugh:

thanks

ps: how did your oil end up so runny looking? is that a matter of the quality of the material used?

To everybody who I didn't say thanks to, "Thanks" I'm really a nice guy, just really stoned all of the time and kind of forgetful, I don't mean to seem arrogant :)

@ gaius, the first thing I'm going to figure out how to make when I start my glass working in a month or so is how to make a 50x9mm schott BHO tube, nobody makes any? I've wanted one for a few years now so ill figure out how to make some right off the bat, sort of an obsession ;) lol.

Its not the material in the pic making it look runny, more the stage it was at when I took the pics, I scrape it out of my reducing dish while still very liquidly onto a flat plate then finish the purge on the plate by heating it lightly and then into my serving dish for use, that pic was while it was still very runny, I like to purge till it gets to a medium taffy consistency, if your familiar with taffy?

Later m8

Thanks eagle :)

mhhm taffy, lol. anyway thanks for the pointers. it was a pain to scrape it together off the pyrex dish, and it didn't become a lump more like slivers. maybe i can melt it into one piece?

next run i'm gonna scrape it together while it's still gooey.

That is some cherry oil!

I've never been sure of BHO, the contaminates scare me.

What's does that BHO leave behind when sprayed on a mirror? Advertises to be pretty clean stuff........might have to check it out.

Thanks for sharing Maximo!

Hey Kosmo,

I've seen a few pics of some, but nothing serious, I want seriously durable and 9mm is the thickest tube out there, going to ease into it but I already have an ideal of how to do it, if I can figure this out they will be sick because I want to decorate them to, color and marbles haha, going to be funny to see I'm sure.

the 4mm tubes wont break. i had a couple break at the place where you insert the butane tip, and no thickness of glass makes that change i think. actually thicker glass seems to take changes in temperature not as well as thinner. blowers can make small things that wont crack without kilning, but larger thicker pieces need kilning.

I don't like it rock hard either gaius, I don't like having to flame it every time I want a hit, but taffy is ummm ummm good m8.

Its all about personal choice with me NNN, I'm an explorer always have been, "can't stop living your life for the fear of die'n" I say, but give it a try once, you don't have to keep smokin it if you don't want right? Pez

that oil looks like the malt extract that was used to make the miller. Nice!

Hey Kut,

I'm going to give it a try, can't hurt huh, waste some glass, learn a lesson lol, but I want to see BHO tubes as colorful as pipes and gongs, with marble handles and color swirled in, give it some class, respectability, make it look interesting, maybe I'm dreaming? haha, I'm a little off ain't I ;)

and I have a nice digi kiln coming, it will hold a 12" tube but I think 10" is best for me.

Thanks CC, it was unique and I haven't got that color since :|

yeah them glass tubes seem the way to go for bho extraction.

the reason i mention the liquidity, is because mine is the opposite, more like powder, which is annoying when i'm trying to make little lumps for the vap, it all sticks to my fingers and seems generally inefficient, compared to the first batch i made. which was like taffy and allowed one to easily make the portions for the ti-pad

could it be that old material makes powdery bho?

I've been trying to get my point across on TC about glandular moisture loss and oil hardness, I don't think anybody's listening though, but I've noticed a loss of moisture (H2o or terpins?) in the gland heads over time (shrinkage), which you should be familiar with as an experienced bubble maker, the age of your material and the hardness of the final bubble/oil go hand in hand due to this loss of moisture "before" using for hash making, but I think your hard oil and the use of older material is a good example of what I'm trying to get across to others, and maybe I'm just wrong?. sorry for the long winded answer bro lol, pez :D

Hmm, for some reason I think it's the terpenes that matter but I could be very wrong like always..
Fresh very sticky NH dry sieve that stayed this way...

Cured/dry C99 dry sieve resin that didnt get sticky anymore (even with that iso oil I pu there) but was just as potent as all of my dry sieve..

Hey I love this shit.. Where do I get that fancy Butane? Please PM me too, as I may forget to find this thread again. I made some bubble and there is no telling what I may forget.
I have this problem with my ol' lady. She is always telling me some fantastic unbelieveable story that she says I never remember because I was buzzed. Maybe I need to make a deal with her that no deals are binding if I am smoking the Bub
