yes the FIRST federal mmj to i think (Canada, fuck ya! imagine the team america song)

it influences me personally in the sense that i've never had bad or really even average weed that had a high bag appeal, if they grew it well enough to look great, it's usually of ok quality at worst

but that will be a problem with weed when it's legal to, because once it can be proffessionally packaged people will grow a field of easy to grow clones that have big yield and high bag appeal, because as we all know the very best strains have some sort of 'catch' like huge flowering time, require intense care or have low yield

Jammerz aka BC Beasters, perfect example of shiny weed that doesn't get you high. Was designed for the US bag appeal market. I am glad she is gone. Peace GS

That would mean no one is allowed in the poll....there is no such thing as a "legal mmj patient "..that's an oxymoron.

Hey let's not get to technical here. There's no tricks etc, I want a good average of how peolple feel. If you have a recomendation vs prescription vs whatever in another country that is fine. I'd like medical patients to answer in the medical forum Medical Patients Poll so can see the diferences in those opinions vs non-medical.

It's great to see all the differing thoughts from all of you..many thanks..DD

Bag appeal is important to just about everyone whether they believe it or not.

Why do you think chefs spend so much time and effort plating and making sure each dish looks visually appealing?

The following is in reference to food but I think there is some correlation to the discussion of marijuana and bag appeal.

In the wild, for instance, herbivorous primates select appropriate leaves by their color, because it is the best way to collect information about the environment. As humans, we are programmed to look at food items and their colors to determine what is edible, ripe or spoiled. Today, we are still very receptive to the color of our foods, and we remain sensitive to those closely connected to nature. Blue food, for instance, is naturally rare, so we do not respond to it as much as other colors. As a result, the color blue is considered an appetite suppressant. On the other hand, bright green, red or yellow colored vegetables, extremely abundant in nature, are colors that we easily recognize and therefore are naturally attracted to.

Some scientific studies have shown that color actually influences taste on diners. Research volunteers in one study could for instance taste imaginary differences between two identical food products, one of which had previously been darkened with food coloring and thus had a different color. The same volunteers also tasted no difference between identically-colored food items, even when one of these was sweetened enough to alter its taste. In other words, the color of food dominates its taste. This is why brightly colored foods seem to taste better than plain foods.

Whoever says that bag appeal means nothing to them when buying herb is full of you know what. Unless your dealer is willing to let you sample everything he has so you can make an informed decision, you're going to use your eyes and nose in determining what to pick. Lets say you are given the choice between 2 strains your not familiar with...one looks amazing and the other looks like crap. You cant sample them and can only choose one. You cant tell me bag appeal would have zero influence on your decision.

Nada, Zilch, Zero....smoked some mighty fine looking herb in my day that didn't do a damn thing to me, it tasted good, it looked good but no high...then on the other hand I've smoked what I like to call the "ugly chick" at two in the morning, talk about a fucking.

Looks don't mean squat to a real connoisseur of herb.

Are the people who say "bag appeal" is not even partially a factor saying they'd smoke this?

"bag appeal" is just a hip term to explain someone's subjective valuation of a product they might purchase based on visual appeal.

Yea it matters a little bit but a real "cannabis connoisseur" knows what a good sativa looks like, the ones most often confused with schwag.

Like a fine meal presentation has some effect.

Cook me nice kobe steak but make it look like dog shit and it will be less enjoyable.

Visible resin coverage isn't always an accurate indicator of potency sure but it is still the best indicator next to actually smoking it when trying to determine what might be best.

To those that say bag appeal has no bearing on their decision, I pose the following hypothetical;

You're looking to buy some herb and the dealer pulls out 2 diff kinds and gives you a choice between the two but you do not get to sample before purchase. Both are seedless and are the same price.

Which one would you buy and for what reason did you select the one you did? Again, bag appeal isn't always accurate but I'm willing to bet it is more times than not.

When I examine herb, I do it with a loupe and a bright LED flashlight. With these two things, you can clearly see the crystals if they are there. Heavy crystals means good herb. The other day, a friend showed me some herb he had purchased. Smelled great, looked good at first blush, but under the loupe and light, I saw no crystals, so I told him I didn't think it was very good. Smoking it confirmed my initial impression, but it sure smelled powerful. The loupe doesn't lie.....

If I gave you two plants and one plant grew so so and looked like shit and yeild sucked, but got you high as shit.
Then I gave you another plant and it grew like shit and looked great and great yeild, but it got you not as high which one would YOU pick? Which one do you think the clubs and commercial growers are picking?

have had to purchase far too much so-called bag appeal bud that does shit for me but kills my bank account... Seems to be the only bud that ppl think is worth growing in the clubs in BC and it sucks big time .. headband 707

To answer your question, of course I'd choose the one with the better effect but I believe this thread is about how much bag appeal matters when purchasing bud for consumption, not how much it matters when selecting plants to grow....

I've answered your question, now answer mine.

LOL I thought I did .. I have already been down this road and seen that it is not always what the bud looks like. As a matter of fact more and more it looks great and does NOTHING so I would have to say bag appeal has got lots of ppl fooled.. Again I couldn't give two shits I have to get really high and it could look like shit and not smell so good either but if it works it works lol... I have been finding these strains that come from different parts of the country and they just have different effects and they are not thinking of bag appeal just getting high and it's working ,, This is nothing to argue about ,,everyone will find these buds that will surprise them and see for themselves ,, bro don't get me wrong I love that $400 a zip of real purple kush who doesn't lol,,,stay safe headband 707:woohoo:
