$40 an ounce in 1980.

I just got an 1/8th for $25. It's so harsh, I think they grew it in a bucket of fertilizer.

Price of smokle then and now

:joint: Back in 1970 in the bay area I bough a bag of Mexican Haze for five dollars and could purchase a joint for a buck or two in high school, around 74 Cannabis was comming out of the Hill of the L.A, mountain range then it when from Mexican Haze to just Haze, The Haze brothers distributed in the L.A areana and it made its way up into the Marin County California, USA, then a bag was going for around $15. Now adays a 1/8 of ounce goes for anywhere from 50 to 60 dollars.

I started smoking around 85. 1/4th an oz went for $25. It looks like we can blame Nancy Reagan for the sudden price hike that occurred in the early 1980s :)

Just say No!

Damn!

i'm a young pup comparatively and i was fairly old compared to alot of you people when i started smoking, i sstarted on $180 an ounce locally grown shit. it was good, had about 5-6 seeds an ounce, and was stoney as hell. it was a bit more couchlock than a prefer now, but it was a good deal. mexican was about $80 a zip, prices on the local stuff haven't really changed but the mex is a bit ore since 9/11

Jeez, I'm about the oldest dawg here!
In 1968 you'd get a 4-finger lid for $10.00. In 1972, a pound of good mexican was $60-$80. You can see why I choke when I see $65 eighths!
I'm tired now & have to lay down :joint:

Good Old Days!

Good Old Days!

I started to smoke in the very late 60's. I could get a ounce of Jamaican weed for about $20 and an ounce of hash for about $80 at that time..

I don't know what happened but hash, back then, sold for 4 times the price of weed almost all the time. It would seem, to me, that the price of hash has not risen percentage wise as much as weed has risen over those years.

The only reason I can think ,that hash has not gone up as much, is the introduction of "Bubble Hash" which was not available way back then.

I grow and thus do not purchase weed on the street but I am told that an ounce of OK bud goes for about $250 now a days.

Late 60's a lid was $15 for mex to columbian. Thai stickz were $10 and hash was blonde $60, black $80 an oz. Man I haven't heard "lid" for a long long time. A nickle was $5 and weighed 5 grams or the weight of a U.S. nickle :p

Small town in the southeastern US, early 70's an oz was $15 and a 1/4 was $40 regardless of quality or strain. Life in the USA was very different back then, free and easy with little inclination or need to hide much of anything as long as you weren't hurting anyone. Here's hoping that mindset comes back around.

OH NO!!! Grizz, you know why divorces cost so much? CAUSE THEY'RE WORTH IT!!!! lol.
Relationships are great when they are good, but when they go bad there is no point in trying to save it. I have been to the ring stage myself (up to engage that is) and found out that I am so glad that I did not spend too much money on the ring. Jer and I had discussed beforehand that I wanted to get her a real diamond ring, but didn't have the money, and she said she was fine with CZ's until married... Turns out she thought they where real, flew to AZ, tried to pawn it for 75 when she realized it wasn't real, and sold it for 60 later as she brought nothing with her, and when she ran out of money she tried to come back... She got back one week later and I was sitting at the apartment in front of the Seahawks game, enjoying a few drinks. She came in and I asked her where she was, and after a few seconds she said she was with her gf Jenny... Except Jenny was literally in the bathroom as I was asking... She came out, fiance freaked out, I assured her I did not, would not and will never cheat as long as I ever have ANY girlfriend, so I told her "It is over, get out and now I am having at your best friend..." So right out in front of the window it happened... till the cops came. I explained everything and he laughed, escorted her through the house and we picked her stuff out right then and there. Then she and a friend broke in while I was at work and stole a guitar, an amp and wrote with lipstick all over my clothes walls, motorcycle and paperwork because she freaked out and went to new friends that got her addicted to meth and coke and probably caused her to do it. Grizz, sorry about the ISO babble I really do appologize... I hope nothing is offensive/rude I will review this later cause I need to go out for a cigarette after thinking about all of this...

i used to buy nickel bags

i used to buy nickel bags

I started smoking regularly back in 1966. We used to have "pot parties". I used to get a "nickel bag" ($5) and it was around a 1/4 Oz. A "Lid", which was around an ounce to an ounce and a quarter cost $15. I started buying lids and more around '67 - '69
Hash was $5 a gram and if you could get this much $$ together you could get an Oz. of hash for $50.
This was all mostly good quality Mexican Sativas very giggly "up" kind of a high. It came nicely manicured, no sticks or seeds. We used to get Acapulco Gold, Panama Red, Michoacan, and Oxacan. We also used to get (later in the 60's and early 70's) Thai sticks and pre-rolled "cigarettes" from Vietnam. Kif and hash oil started becoming available around 1968 - 9.
This was in Philadelphia by the way.
I was also in Chicago in 1968 for several months and I used to get my weed from a guy who had garbage cans full of weed. He would just grab a handful and ask me if I thought that was enough for $15. We didn't have scales back then but I am certain his lids were the heaviest I ever bought.

how much is in a "LID" ??

ive never herd of this unit of measurement

A Lid...was a bag full of weed...using the precise "Fingers" method...lol
That just means a 4 finger lid was as full as 4 fingers being held up to the bag--
There was also, 3-finger, 2-finger...and 1 finger...altho it was onlt $10 for a 4 finger lid--
