$10 for a four finger bag in the seventies. Some Red Bud was 50 which I thought was robbery. Damn I loved that red bud. Can you still get the Genetics?

I've got a digital-scale, but I swear those triple-beams are probably STILL the most accurate scales around. :joint:

afghani hash

afghani hash

Hohoho the good old days ! $800 can for a pound of primo afghani hashish in 1970 ! Those were the days of some of the best afghani hash and some truly amazing red leb. Actually we could get all kinds of different types of hash from all kinds of countrys at your neighborhood pusher, we had choice ! Now I am glad to make my own, nothing on the market compares to what we had back then except what we make ourselves. Peace. Boom Shankar ! RR.

I just scape into oldtimer catagory ... Let me think now, cira 1986 when I first started toking whilst at Portsmouth Poly...sorry can't remember how much onzes were then - hardly ever bought onzs. I think we used to pay £15 for an 8 of 'squigdey black' - usually peusdo charras...same for soap, maybe 13 for 'flat press' (low grade morrocan). Rarey we got (usually african type) grass, the likes of us never saw the locally grown or imported high quality bud that you get nowadays even if it existed then. I didn't actually know that you had to leave cannabis flowers to mature properly until relativly recently. I guess that kinda knoledge was kept quiet. So many people are trapped in this 'punter weeerruld' where the way the vibe seems to work is to keep them nicly in dealers net...not realising that growing themselves, even outofdoors in the UK is so easy and will reveal the real effect of the herb ideally. (set and setting permitting).

Jah Love!

Charras now 90-120 an oz. Never ever heard or seen of Temple ball in the UK or anywhere else in the west. Bought some in Kumoan for, damn how much was that, 500 rupees (about a tenner) or less anyway. (2001). Think it was real Temple ball anyway. (Very hard, black, large marble/sheep turd size, not the usual stuff (charras or the thick pencil stuff, which is very nice by the way)) Weird stuff - took it back to Delhi, got a bus top Dharamsala, this trainee monk geezer almost throw himself off the bus, but turned back at the last moment. It was one of those weird pyscik Inidan moments - of the crazy bad type side. Thats what makes India real - the crazy pys stuff (that occurs alongside the happy psy stuff). Wheras here (accent turning germanic), here vee have scitzaphrenia! No one would have done anything by the way (if the guy had thrown himself off the speeding night bus...racing, racing, through the darkness, the warmth, India!)....really it can be like that there, the trip that everyone experiences much much more closely connected to the occult than here in the west. Here in the west the reality is created/programmed by ritual child abusers...and so you are blocked from full brain/occult consciousness as a result.

Jah Liberation!

When I started smoking...
$20-25 usd for a fat quarter sack...
$80-100 usd for an oz...

First kind buds I smoked was thunderfuck in the late 80's and was priced $7usd/gram... and there were some awesome central/south american sativas around once in a while for $35 quarters and $120 ozs....

I don't think I ever heard of a 1/4 oz or an 1/8th until around the 90s.

When I 1st started toking, nobody ever used a scale for 'lids'. It was either a 3-finger or 4-finger lid. Weed wasn't quite as 'precious' as it is today.

back when i started smoking $000 for the first two years i lived on my uncles stash and a mates dads..

I would have been about 10years old cleaning up my uncles house after a old fogy piss up. when all the kids went out the back armed with ice cream containers to trim leaves of scrappy buds and pull down what was left of a massive plant growing through the pergola 50% of us had no idea what we where doing the older cousins would have been filling there pockets. :woohoo: .. Was a few years later when i was 16/17yo i started to get bags of my older cousin always wet untrimmed bud.

Man you folks are bringing back some memories.
OK I'll chime in. Came up in smoke in the 70's. First purchase was a Saverin coffee can full of leaves. $5. Got it from my older brother's friend. An old cat from the 50's who said smoking leaf is fine. And it was. And still is.
First ounce - Columbian Gold $25.
Thai Stick - $12.50 don't know why such an odd number.
First Panama Red ounce - $35

"Lid" from my learnin', taught by the same oldtime hipsters is how much weed could be piled on a plastic coffee can lid. Cost - $20

Shame what Reagan's baby Neocons did to reefer. Its a crime I tells ya'.

Yeah, we paid $13 for Thai-Stick, so you were getting it for $.50 cheaper. :yoinks:
And the way we judged 'lids' back in the day, was either a 3-finger or 4-finger 'lid'. The amount of weed in 1 of those flapped-baggies = to putting 3-fingers or 4-fingers up to the baggie...kinda like the way you measure a horse's height with 'hands'. :chin: :joint:

Talk about inflation! 1969 - $20 "lid" (where did that term come from anyway?)
my uncle, boy was he a cool guy. he had a fender telecaster and played in a band and called people cats. had that cool beatnik/hippy thing when he talked. you know man, like this cat was playing his axe and man that cat could blow. (a saxophone playing reference hip musician types used when someone could really get down on the guitar, nothing weird)

anyway he started smoking pot in the 50s, in L.A.,(he hung out with mexicans i think, white boys who didn't never even heard of the stuff) and he said that you would buy a prince albert tobacco can stuffed full of weed, i forget the price, 5 bucks maybe.
so they called them lids cause of the flip up lid on the can.
the cans were flat

he said that's where it started
