To be clear, and to reiterate the clarification I made earlier in the thread, this really isnt about passing cuts in the mail. I am talking about making REAL DEAL in-the-flesh friends with whom you share your "secrets" with. I've never managed to meet anyone who I could pass cuts with HAND TO HAND, rather than anonymous letter to anonymous receiver. We all do that day in and day out, to an extent. More than anything, I find it interesting to hear people tell stories about how they met people they trust with their FREEDOM. Again, looking to collect stories, not create a harbor where people argue over clones vs popping beans, clubs and their common mislabeling, etc. GIMME STORIES! Tell me about the day you decided to entrust that special bro or sis with your secret, and they the same. Enlighten me as to the risks you took, the possible and potential gratification of such a relationship, and such.
btw, to me an "elite" is not a cali kush, or a diesel, or most anything else that can be had in seed form, whether that seed is an S1, F1 or F2, etc.
I am talking about TRUE clone-only strains, not crosses made with them or self'd potential hermi gambles.

well being medical my current cuts are all sr-71 stuff... hinduskunk#1, bubbleberry#9, bubblegum#2, purplekush, and odyssey.
my mentor, who has a good 20 years on me, took me under his wing awhile ago, we'd been friends for like 13 years and i had no idea he grew... i can still remember the day he took me down in the basement and showed me the hidden prohibition cellar behind a wall, got to love old houses, inside was over 20Gs worth of grow equipment, more 400watt lights than i could count and a room full of halloween, an elite cut from northern cali which i was told is the indoor version of salmon creek. I helped him out with a few of his grows and recently, as of the past 3 months, i finally started my own growing operation. Currently it's my full time job, only about 10 years in the making but people always told me i'd be happiest doing what i love; they were right.
Defiantly took the friendship into that family level though; complete and total trust is hard to come by and even harder to maintain but it's well worth it. Only two people outside my family know i grow and he's one of them. But yeah, when you connect with another grower who's just as lowkey and paranoid as yourself it's like finding a long lost brother or something.

my first grow was a strain my buddy called "the kush" later on we kinda figured it was skywalker og when my buddy was bringing down tahoe og. this was way before the kush craze. towards the end of the purp craze.

it took me my first serious grow (4th or 5th actual) to find some elites. i did some hardcore elimination and the survivors were the bomb. the first time i took something from someone else in person was like 2 years after i moved, the first time i got an "elite" cut was like 2 years ago.

I just back into indoor growing after a dozen year absence. I was given my first elite the day I was given my first grow to manage. UBC Kimo, the original, way back in 89/90.
I got taught to breed by the same folks over a couple decades. Word spread fast when I decided to hang some lights up indoors again and find myself suddenly well stocked and have even turned down many cuts from past connections, favoring running seed stock.
I was gifted Black Tuna which I almost turned down and am glad I didn't and I did say yes to GG4, forum, ogkb 2.0 and a few others so I can see what all the fuss is about.
Elites are subjective I suppose but there are true holy grail cultivars out there that truly deserve the title elite. In they end, the ALL came from a seed.

I was gifted the HA OG Kush clone as my first clone ever; 20 years ago.
I didn't receive anymore elite clones until last year, thanks to an awesome buddy on IC.

not very long....yeehaw..and FWIW some of the stuff I already had was superior to the so called elite clones....I only miss a few like trainwreck and cali o and just a few others...a lot of HYPE out there...got some new stuff going now like sfv and cookies which I got from a member here and he in return got 8 cuttings
