HOTC's Mother PC Case (using coco)

HotC--maybe I missed it earlier, but shouldn't pH be pretty neutral? 5.8 is pretty acidic, yeah? Just in the beginning? Something to do with the coco?

Coco is not soil, it is a soil-less medium and is thus treated like hydro.

Looking good. 10 plants in a PC case is going to turn into a jungle!

Right, so because it goes in and then out again, you're not in danger of locking out the nutes due to acidity?

Soil would want to be neutral, yeah?

Hi all

duggy, as JK explained I gotta treat the coco like hydro. Important to keep my pH at 5.7 - 6.1 at the most otherwise they won't be able to take up specific nutes.

Here is a good pic to explain pH and at what pH nutes are taken up.

Jack, 7 sprouted and another one died soonafter. So I'll have 6 plants - 3 guaranteed females. Will be much easier, looking back 10 plants might have been a bit crazy :D

That's the most informative chart I've ever seen! I've already printed it out and I'll tape it to my wall.

One more stupid question okay? What's the Mn and the B?

Thanks so much,
duggy

dug,

Boron is believed to be involved in carbohydrate transport in plants; it also assists in metabolic regulation. Boron deficiency will often result in bud dieback.

Manganese activates some important enzymes involved in chlorophyll formation. Manganese deficient plants will develop chlorosis between the veins of its leaves. The availability of manganese is partially dependent on soil pH.

est1977, sounds sick dude... Keep us posted! :joint:

When I checked them this morning, the Cinnamon and Church had both fallen over. They seemed very weak at the point they got bend. I hope this isn't damping off?

I fed all the plants some pH'ed water, I hope these two are OK! Also just propped them up so they're upright again.

I had that problem whem my plants had rooted roots. The sentence was: too much water...

I hope you'll have look!

Because I can only stick my head in once or twice a day, I keep half a pet bottle over the little guys until they can hold enough water to go that long. Usually until I get a few sets of leaves. Then I mist the soil and leaves just a bit. Maybe I'm over-cautious, but it seems to help prevent both over- and under-watering.

Hey HOTc

That happened to some of those NYCD yo sent me. I just staked them upright and after a week or so they took care of them selves.

Thanks for the comments guys... They still look good, although the Cinnamon hasn't changed much! I'm sure they'll pull through soon. Also that B-52 dud that popped might still be alive... Gave it water yesterday and it seems to have some how perked up?

LOL rkrone :D

Worked on the case a bit this morning. I cut up the plant drip tray that was too big so that it fits in the case now. I also made a ghetto stand out of a box that the tray sits on nicely. Plants are close now :D
