True, although I have used a towel/cloth before (past grows) without any problems. My ventilation will be always on which helps with mould, mildew etc. Anyway, will try sort something else out

im just lookin out man, no point in getting it all right only to be held back by something preventable.
I just germinated some seeds:

dunno if theres enough space for a tray.. maybe if u can find some square wire mesh u could make a nice lil sort of platform maybe only like 3 or 4mm high and let the water drain into the bottom of the PC case and then just mop it up everytime u water. all i can think of...

HOTC, for nutes, im using Botanicare PBP, Liquid Karma, and Cal-mag. need to get some new pics up but they are lookin great! ive read of a few people using GH but run into problems. check out the coco forum for more info on this. Coco-specific nutes are definately ideal to ensure no deficiencies or salt buildup. with the botanicare, i have to flush with clearex about every week and a half. good luck, ill be following!

Hotsie, baby! You're using what looks like the same black pvc pots that I've come to like! flexible! crammable! Jeez, I swear you got the same black-pvc-pot-plus-white-stickem-in-tag set up that I'm using! (after you chewed my ass out for using cut-off, clear pet bottles--you were right. . .)
Your Ph is at about 6 from the watering can, judging by the yellow color, right? So I guess the coco is alkaline and offsets it to 7? Hrm? Is that right? Do you test it again after it dribbles out the bottom, through the soil?

Howdy dug! pH needs to be around 5.8. Not 100% sure yet with the whole coco medium, my tap water pH is about 6.5 and when I put it through the coco, it comes out at 6-ish. So maybe coco naturally decreases the pH? I'll find out soon enough - for now I'm using pH'd water @ just below 6.0.
WRT filters, I don't think it'll be too necessary as these plants will only be vegging

Here's an update, day 3/4.
Can confirm that 7 out of 10 beans popped. I managed to find a B-52, left it in water... Still hasn't popped. So possibly a dud. The other 2 seeds that didn't pop got lost. Was two Jack Herer seeds. Also it looks like the one B-52 that popped isn't going to make it. maybe a rough transplant, not sure. Oh well, not a biggy! I'm guaranteed 3 females so far in any case.
So, we've got 6 plants:
2 x Jack Herer
1 x White Rhino
1 x The Church
1 x Cinnamon
1 x Master Kush
More than enough to keep me occupied
Fed with pH'ed water + a little bit of GH Flora Micro & Bloom right now.
