Mossy I am hoping it is indeed a lady. Im not too worried this next batch I'm germing will have a lot more attention. Those ones I planted when I was on my trip I think got baked in the heat. No signs of life yet... I may try diggin one up in a few days. The smoke was nice. It hasn't had any cure yet though. I just packed a bowl of a lower nug but they have a nice fruity smell.

No signs of life yet...
hang fire..when they are deeper they have further to travel before they reach the surface.

You don't have an ant problem in your veg garden do you..?
Ants are the only thing I have seen over here that actually steal the seeds from the soil as they start to germinate.

I couldn't believe it the first time I saw them stealing out of one of my pots.
They even leave the empty calyx's in the pot..
take the goodies and leave the wrapping behind.

Nasty thieving little Beasties..

rofl.
Put sticky material around the edge of the pots.
Duct tape is ur best friend.

Cheers cyber echo..
I didn't think of it.
I just started germing in the washing cupboard as it is dry..dark and ant free in there.
but I am hoping to start a test run on a couple of the finished girls in the next week and need the big pots
so I think I will give it a whirl.

it definitely works. its gonna be annoying since ur gonna be constantly touching the sticky edge by mistake :p heheh...

No where near as annoying as thieving ants.

I just love Simple solutions..
cheers m8.

No problems with ants. I didn't find one of those tomato caterpillars a few days ago. Most likely what ate the leaves off one of my ladies. They are those big fat green ones with the spike on the back. I haven't seen any others as of yet. I went through and got all the seeds out yesterday. Ended up with around 40 or so seeds. A lot more than I thought was in there. So all in all it was a successful first AF grow. But don't worry there is more to come....

well done my m8.
I think one of the most important things you can do..if at all possible
is reproduce the seeds you have.

Gardeners are notoriously tight-fisted..:yeahthats

Once you have paid for the first lot..you should never have to buy the same genetic again.

After all..I'm still working on MY First packet
and look at the joy they have given me.

Got plans for any out-crosses

I'm thinking of saving some AF pollen for a buddies grow that he has outdoors. He has some Head Band , and some Kiwi. Never heard of kiwi but it is a sativa dominate plant. I'm going to see if he wants to dust them with a lil pollen. It would be some work to get them to be autoflowers but at least we would have seeds to mess with. That kiwi plant looks so good too...... Everything people grow around here is ussually a clone only from a med club. Dont get me wrong they are good genetics but you have to keep a indoor grow to keep moms. Its easy to just put some beans away then pop them when need be.

Rolling an AF when you are using a 100% AF girl and a long season girl is a doddle.
You will enjoy it..and probably be nigh on full AF @F2.

M

mossy can you please explain this a little better

My opinion based on my grow results only..
(but it is worth asking about because from what I can see most people are getting the same results using AF hybrids to non af crosses.)

When we were playing with AF to non-af crosses before the AF was hybrid
F1 result would be that non-af's were in dominance.
Sometimes I would germ 3 or 4 times before I got what I wanted.
Sometimes I had to hit them with a second dose of AF before I got what I wanted.

Since using 100% AF to non-af crosses..
f1 show a Majority AF content.
Particulally on the DC crosses I am working now...

The 2 I have progressed through have shown only AF content at f2 and f3.

With this in mind..200 of the f2's have been put out specifically to do an AF % head count...on a wider test patch.
Result will be shared when I get them.

Higher AF head count @ f1 will mean that HHH has a much better chance of picking up exactly what he wants straight off...and he can concentrate on his selection points rather than have to hunt the AF down first.

Well Guys I'm Getting the next run in the soil today. The beans have been soaking in water over night. I decided to try some of my old seeds and some of the new ones that were just harvested. The seeds I made my self actually look pretty solid. Nice fat black seeds... We'll see in a few days if they pop or not. The 3 seedlings I have in the veggie garden already are doing good. I pulled the confirmed male out yesterday. Figured i might as well use his spot for the beans I'm about to plant. I talked to my buddy about dusting some of his long season girls with some AF pollen. He said it would be alright to do some lower buds. I guess that Kiwi plant takes about 12 weeks to finish... I don't know if that would be good to cross with an AF or not...

They will pop m8..never fear.
You have done everything right..
and if there was something wrong with the seed it would be white...with no inside.

I cannot see why Not..I've never had a bad cross..
but there is only one way to find out.

Top tip..photograph the Kiwi..bud/full length and an overhead..
and keep it
helps you identify the improvements you make and helps you identify the dominance of your crosses.

Whats Goin On Guys???

Haven't been too much to report on my grow as of late. Of the Two AFs I had transplanted to my Veg garden one is a mutated female.... and the other is growing really well but is showing no signs of sex yet.... I have a feeling it may be a non AF... We will find out soon enough. I think I will end up letting it go even if its not an auto. The seasons are changing here and soon she will show if shes an non AF or not. We've been in the middle of a mini heat wave. Temps were at a constant 100 F. all week. I planted 8 More seeds about 7 Days ago. I planted them deeper in the soil due to the weather being so hot. I didn't want to risk the seeds drying out too fast. So far only one has popped but I'm sure the others aren't far behind. However I am about to go hunting In 2 weeks. I will be gone for at least a week I'm thinking.... I hope my babies can make it through. I may try putting some bark around them to mulch and retain more moisture... I will think of something. :chin: Send some good vibes for cooler my way while I'm gone guys....

Heres a few pics to liven up this thread

Expert - This is a special hunt that takes 3 years of applying before you get drawn. Should be some big deer in there.... But Im sure you know how that goes. This is for archery season too...

Dont worry mossy Im not leaving for about 2 weeks. Should give me some time to get those seedlings a lil bit bigger with some TLC. Im just glad we have temps in the 90s right now instead of 100+. Ill get some pics of a progress in a few days.

Whats up? Whats up guys??

Got some good news for you. I was giving one of my good buddies/ fellow grower some auto seeds from my grow and he said he had some clones for me. Apparently he has some Alaskan Thunder Fukc , Purple Kush , and one other strain. :woohoo: I'm going to be getting those in in the next few days. He said they are already hardened off and ready to go. I think they will only veg for about a month before the hours of sun here make them switch. I will be doing these outdoor as I did in a previous spring outdoor grow last year with some GDP. Also I am going to cross these clone only ladies with some auto pollen. Fixin' to get my breedin' on :yummy: haha... Should be nice to get some more buds too when they are done, but we cant get too far ahead now can we? As for the seeds I planted no more have popped up.... I don't know what happened. We had temps in the 100s when i planted them so maybe they got cooked/ dried out. I tried to keep them as moist as possible. The one that did sprout is looking good. I still have 1 small mutated female and another that is growing good but no signs of sex yet. I will let it go as long as it needs though. Anyways it'll be nice to have some new faces in the garden. Ill get you guys some pics when I get them. I will still keep this thread going, no sense in starting a new thread just for them.
