My view is that violence is not funny. Are wars funny? Was 9/11 funny? At what point does someone being attacked start to be funny; when they aren't killed, or would that be funny too? If it was a 19 year old male high on crack who threw the punch, would it still have been funny? I just don't see what is funny about violence on a stoner site, and truly makes me wonder why I spend so much time here.

Maybe I'm desensitized to this sort of violence..I watch guys punch, elbow, and knee each other for sport...and hug afterwards..
I'm not saying this is the way to solve any problem...and I don't know the whole premise on why she hit her..
It's just rare to see two middle age women engage in physical battle..
I had that same punch happen to me once..when you aren't ready for it..it really amplifies the punch..turns out it was a total misunderstanding..
and I don't hate the guy..I know what he was feeling and why he did it..
Something tells me that lady knows why she just got popped..sounded like she was blabbing info to the other ladies daughter that she had no right to...
I think the older ladies were probably friends at one point..something happened before this video that caused animosity..the last comment just broke the camels back..

Most people have a some button..if you push it..you are at risk of keying in ones anger potential..you keep pushing it..and that potential is going to release..
When somebody starts pushing that button and they know that is a dangerous button to push..but they keep pushing it anyway..out of spite...
That's what I call asking for it..almost anyone you know..If you choose to needle them, pushing whatever that person's button is..
you would eventually provoke violence or they will leave..Bullies search for that button...
So I don't see much more happening here than one person pushing ones button until the button finally worked and she got popped for not controlling her mouth..
You keep poking any animal with a stick and one point it's not gonna take it anymore..

That's all peace is..an agreement or understanding not to push each others buttons and resist retaliation when your button is pushed..a truce of violence
The flight or fight response is there when you feel you are being attacked..realize not everybody is gonna choose flight every time..
How do you stay out of fighting..don't provoke them..you can't promote peace by provoking violence..

War included..war occurs when somebody is being attacked..provoked or not..and sometimes somebody steps in to help when the big kid starts beating on the little kid..
Sure maybe the US steps in to help a little too much..then I think back into history and think..what if we didn't help..what would the world be like today..
Sometimes the intention is good..but the method is questionable..which has been a problem in many eyes..

Why do I think the clip is humorous..because I find human nature hilarious..
we are the goofiest of all the creatures here..most creatures just fight for dominance, food, territory and family..
we fight just because somebody doesn't agree with our ideals..or some other emotionally triggered response..

I understand your position Pack, and if it had been in a ring where both had been trained and agreed to take part, and strictly controlled, I'd sit down and watch it.
I'll give you a more detailled explanation of my position mate, as you've taken the effort. It's not the act of a single punch with no real damage that bothers me so much. It's more the baying of the mob when watching someone get assualted. I firmly believe that we aren't responsible for the actions of others, but we are responsible for our own actions. Therefore we can't be judged on the actions of others, but we should be held responsible for our own actions. Therefore I believe that it is better to make your actions your defence rather than those things that need to be defended.
You, if I understood what you said correctly, seem to draw the line at either the level of damage done, or the difference in the ability to do damage, whereas I draw the line at the intent and situation.
Humour to me, seems to be a natural defence mechanism triggered when the outcome of a situation is different than is predicted, but with no personal cost. However at somepoint we all start to feel compassion if there is a victim involved. As everyone has differing levels of compassion for others, this point will be different for us all I accept, what I find distatefull is the way in which some seem to enjoy what they would see as karmic retribution. The feeling that "the bitch deserved it". The enjoyment ceases to be coming from the unpredictability but rather the satisfaction of witnessing her getting what she deserved. It just seems a little bloodthirsty to me.
Have you ever heard of a craze that went around the UK called Happy Slapping? Look it up on google. Kids would use their mobile phones to film unsuspecting folks waiting at bus stops etc. and then one kid would run up behind them and give them a slap. It got really out of hand, and a homeless guy asleep on a park bench went up in flames. Scool girls were beaten unconcious. Old women mugged. I don't get the need some people have, to see others being hurt. I tend to feel that it reflects badly on the person wanting to see it.

The woman punching could see the one to be punched was not looking at her(thus no idea a punch was coming(no chance to defend yourself)
