Thank you DNM1, with your help and this forum I did get them to this point!
I posted a closeup and a crop of it in the sticky Kali China thread, taken with a "real" camera and tripod. On the large computer screen the trichomes can be seen very well on these pictures. There are still a bunch of clear heads, but also a growing number of amber trichomes, especially in the top cola. So if one goes by that, she's probably ready. I think I will let her go for a few more day, however, as I feel the buds are still putting on volume. Will check trichomes daily now.

I switched to plain pH'ed tap water for her.

Kali China at 7 weeks of 12/12

Kali China at 7 weeks of 12/12

Hello,
49 days of flowering exactly today. There are areas directly under the light where there are more amber trichomes, in the less fried areas a lot of halfway clear trichomes can still be found.

I left the window open a bit and she is developing nice colors between 18 and 20 °C.

Time for some pictures

some closeups

Orient Express is putting on weight, but this is Kali China's week.

My wife and I put some quickly dried lower fluffy buds from waaay down in the shady bottom in the vaporizer yesterday: not much taste besides hay there (top of the plant is GREAT), but very nice effect! Pretty strong, too (well after more than 6 months of abstinence...). Didn't vape much. I found it very relaxing with a whole body tingling and a completely clear mind, some visual patterns, then we fell asleep. It was late and we were tired.

So would you take her down already?

When you order a torch from gtt to melt some glass, their standard answer is, that'll be ready in 2 more weeks. I'd wait, but whether you chop now or wait, you win.

Before the cure:),you need to flush her rooting system
After a flush or two,you need to let rooting system dry, for a few days. All this still under the lights
In two weeks?,thrichomes should ready for the true experience, and, aftertaste won't be present because of the flushing, just aromas and the rest......when vaped
She looks very nice CS

Few more days and the tingling will be "an army of Malaysian trumpet snails"creeping up your spines,and,then?....awaiting your for smoke report
:)

Thanks DNM1, it is getting a bit hard to wait now that I have had a "preview".

"In two weeks?"
you don't mean two more weeks of flushing, do you?

I have already switched to plain water for the Kali China.
Another factor pro harvest would be the opportunity to move the still blooming Orient Express more completely under the lamp.

I plan to check the trichomes again this weekend.

I agree, I'd wait till there's quite a few amber trics. Harvest a branch or two soon just to satisfy the itch, if necessary, but don't flash dry it. You're almost there....

I think you have exceeded your "quantity goal",and, yes it's hard to resist
That quantity, if harvested now, you'll go through it in no time, because it didn't reach it's full potential
But she's yours C.S, and,when you feel she's done .....she's done

Hi Common Sense,

Lovely Kali China flowers and macro pics :) She has the classic traits of purple China Yunnan hashplant indica parental plant, with a sativa touch that bumps up her yield. I would recommend you to let her flower for approx 10 days more since the last pictures were taken, so as DNM1 correctly pointed out, start to flush her and make sure to let the soil properly dry before harvest her, i think she will benefit of a few days more of flowering.

Best wishes with the Orient Express too!

Thank you guys for taking the time to look through my posts and comment on the progress. This is an unanimous vote, including dubi, to go on for a few more days, which makes it very easy for me.
:)I did some more macro shots yesterday and the proportion of the amber trichomes has not really increased and there still are clear ones, so we can wait. The overall appearance of the plant changes magically from day to day, with nice fall colors all over the plant now.:tiphat:

Hi CS :)
Have you given curing a thought?
:)

Yes, DNM1 my friend.

Slow drying in a dark, cool place. 7-14 days. Then curing in jars as commonly practiced.

This will probably work for Kali China as I will have 4 weeks until my vacation if I harvest this coming weekend. Should be sufficiently dry to be able to put the jars in the refrigerator for 2 weeks to prevent bad things happening.

With the Orient Express, I still can't say when she'll be ready. We'll see. I am thinking about dividing the harvest and try different methods. Refrigerating, freezing, plain drying and even vacuum sealing. Still undecided. Depends on the time frame, I guess.

Wait at least till the weekend CS.That will fall in line with what Dubi advised you
I'll save my comments on how beautiful she looks, for later
:)

Yes. that was my plan. Last watering today with plain RO water, then harvest this weekend.

Some areas have about half of the trichomes amber, but she still seems to slowly add some petals on the buds, like fingers, amazing.

If you have flushed her, yesterday?,do not water!!!!!.Let her rooting system dry completely/totally....which takes you nicely into the weekend
:)
