What's new

Hello, first post, first seeds. Kali China and Orient Express

They need to last until I harvest Zamaldelica!

We will see. With my usual consumption rate: easily
I have a >50h/week job where I need a very clear head, so for me it will remain a weekend pleasure apart from an occasional after-work microdosing.

But who knows what will happen? My wife might develop a habit... (very low probability).

I think I will take a break for the summer and start the Zamaldelica once it cools off a bit. At least that would be a wise thing to do. Emotionally, I am ready to plant tomorrow :)
I am sooooo curious to find out the differences in bouquet and effect of the whole ACE catalog!
I'll be buying glass jars like yours, soon CS
When empty, wash them off with pure alcohol, collect it in a small bowl, let it evaporate, away from naked flames, but, somewhere warm
Some extra THC for tasting
:)

Thank you SolarLogos, DNM1 and Cmoon! I've been pretty busy, so the waiting is not that bad. First tests have been extremely promising already.

KC is pretty stable at 61-62% humidity in her jar, OE 75-79% . What do you consider ideal at this stage? What values should not be exceeded or undershot?

I think humidity is too high, which means buds need to come out every day to be aired for a while
What's ideal? 50% is currently my reading, finished a plant same day as you, in the jars. They seem fine

60-65% RH is perfect for my cures. I've cured stuff at 79% RH without any problem, but I think it gets riskier (chance of mold) that high. If you vacuum seal the lid on the jar, you won't have to worry about mold. At the higher humidity, the buds will go through a moderate Malawi Cob type of fermentation, which means it looses it's green color quickly and takes on a spicier aroma. If you've smelled cobs then you will know what I mean. I do that with all my Mexican weed because it brings out the spiciness I like in those strains. In those cases, there is no heating or sweating it, so it's not a full cob style fermentation, just moist enough to cause it to brown it up a little quicker and take on spicy notes and a light fermented smell.
Peace, God bless

Everything you wrote is spot on, SolarLogos! :tiphat:
The Kali China is completely stable at 62-63%, now curing for almost 2 weeks.

The Orient Express kept stable at 78+%, and it did go through some pronounced fermentation, loosing the green color and sort of starting to melt down a bit, just as you wrote. I can now fit it all in the large jar. Smell getting spicier, very sticky feel. No signs of mold or rot, but I go a bit nervous, so after I week I took the buds out and dried them some more and they are now at 60%. Weighted again and the whole OE harvest went from 73 g to 65 g. Feel more comfortable now.

A first taster of OE was interesting. Immediate effect after just 2-3 vape hits, but very clear head and stimulating but not racy at all, maybe similar to a gentle cup of coffee. Still a "high" of course with a very pleasant happy feeling. Not much body buzz or sleep inducing effect, not suitable before bedtime I'd say. No trippy feelings or visuals, left me very functional. Got a phone call to discuss a rather complicated issue and was able to really focus on that without problems. Seemed very short acting, but I think this was just getting used to the "high" feeling with the clear head and the absence of the usual stone you get from most hybrids (even the more sativa leaning commercially available dispensary buds) or indicas. this was just a first quick test vape, don't label this as a smoke report, it may have been a sample of one of the less developed lower buds. But for me and compared to what I have gotten ahold of during the last decades (including quite a few US west coast dispensary strains - which to me all kind of felt very similar and somehow not very distinct) this was unusual, sort of an "aha!" effect.

Very curious of what is to come.

Your OE looks well balanced between Vietnamese Black and the Yunnan Indica, leaning a bit more towards the VB side. The effects you describe though are mostly VB, it's a very clear, happy cerebral high, with mild trippiness. The Indica makes her mellow and calm without the couchlock IMHO. OE is a high yield'er and puts out large colas as you can see.
Once she gets a bit of a cure, you will see the high lasting a lot longer. 60%RH should finish her off nicely.
Nice job:tiphat:
