I thought IG was for posting pics of dogs?!?! :)
Can't take credit for the LL shots DF put up, those are Megas from his garden.

Great thread, Heady. That GG4 x Snowman.....damn!

Ah...okay, Melty. I just pulled them from your album...so assumed. Oops. ;)

Yes...I'm REALLY excited to see how that GG#4 x Snowman turns out as well. There is superb potential coming off that male for sure. He produced resin on his balls like they were calyxes. Another studly male for sure. Can't go wrong with a GG#4 cross, in reality. It's like using The White - pretty much still going to find something nice, regardless.

@Heady - I guess I try to keep things straight genetics wise simply because it helps in regards to medical usage. If you are buying seeds or hunting clones or trying to figure out what genetic lines WORK for you...actually knowing what you are smoking makes all the difference.

i do find it fascinating to follow the large producers and auxillary businesses from the CA, CO, WA, and OR markets. they seem to be setting the trend for the rest of the country, and they are largely represented on IG. many of the US breeders and seedbanks promote their drops on IG now so if you are interested in buying seeds that seems to be the only way to get the word in time.

it's a med state privilege for sure. i never considered it in prohibition.

precisely,
i especially like seeing the rare dankness buildout happening mostly on IG, nothing like seeing an icmagger make it like "moonshine" going pro like noone has done before.

I just don't like the fact that IG is owned by FB...and I have no idea the levels of security provided by using it...or rather the lack thereof. I don't have a need to market my wares in any capacity, which is primarily what IG seems to be for...self promotion.

I think many people are drawn to the platform simply because of it being used by others and an attempt at staying current and in the loop.

I like ICm - simply because it is not one liners and quick quips - it's full on information. You can TEACH someone the craft here on these forums...I don't see that being the case on IG.

I'd much rather spend my time in a way that I know creates more growers vs telling me where to spend my money next. I'm somewhat bothered by the trend of people flocking to IG for this reason. I think it is reflective of the mindset of the up and coming growers. They think it has nothing to do with their skill set and methodologies practiced ... they only think they need a different strain / cut / seed line to magically make them better at the craft.

It just doesn't work that way...

Summed that up well.

Geotagging is a concern, but it's easy to wipe your own pictures.

IG is two faced as well. They've deleted dozens of cannabis accounts, yet sponsor others (as of recently).

I like it as a time waster. Easy way to blow a few minutes while smoking. For people I actually give a shite about, it gives a different perspective of their personality than here.

The smoker/grower ratio is terrible. The "I post pictures of others grows/cannabis" users are everywhere. Dab vids from bhotards are virulent.

What little grow information posted is horribly incorrect, like upitroll or city of grass (both forums with bad smoker/grower ratios).

I've ordered a few things I would other wise not know of. It's a solid way for small artists to connect to a large audience.

I just post ruminations from the porcelain throne and check out new suicidegirls. My life would be empty without poop and porn.

IG definitely has its pros and cons. You just have to know well enough to sort through the bullshit. I'm on there as much as I am here, too much. It's a really good way to keep up with trends outside of here on the mag and also know of new up and coming strains, seed drops from breeders and vendors, BOGO deals and what not from vendors, and also having multiple stateside vendors to deal with rather than overseas. I've never purchased seeds other than domestic and there are more and more vendors everyday popping up. My seed collection is starting to become just that, a collection. I didn't mean to start turning into a strain hoarder, it just happened. Forgot to mention that it's also a good way to know of events on the horizon as well. I had an old IG account that I was more open with posting info about me or what I look like as it was completely void of cannabis stuff. My new one is exclusively cannabis except for a few random outdoor shots with no identifiable info on there.

It's unfortunate that if you want to get some seeds you really want you need IG, although most breeders these days just do GSC or GSC cross x OG or OG cross. To the point where I don't even feel the need to buy many beans anymore. It's actually incredible to me, you have breeders charging $200-$300 a pack for there "new" strain that is the exact same as the "new have to have" strain that they put out 3 months prior. They just mixed in the Cookies or OG or Chem a little different this time. Yet people can't wait to buy em so they can't post their pics on IG and feel like they're in the "cool kids club" lol. I'll tell you what, if your a breeder, make up a super cool origin story for your particular cookie or OG cross and post it to IG and you can be the next over night millionaire breeder driving a Benz or a caddy lol...

Just out of curiosity, why do you have a ghost account on IG?

I hear ya on the mix and match and repackaging as some new shit. That's why I really like what Bodhi is doing with all his gear. He pretty much is bucking the norm, finding unique crosses, and giving them exotic off the wall names.

I enjoy seeing the works of people like LumpStatus, UP, Cob, Paco, etc who are no longer here on IC and do their thing on IG now. Without an IG I wouldn't be able to see what people like that are doin. Which I enjoy very much.

Yours is one of the feeds I follow with my ghost account lol, hopefully you get that male for your LHB x Wookie ;)

Also worthy of note...TopDawg has a new line called "Philly Skunk" which is P1 x Butter Skunk...

The P1 is a haze leaning sibling of the LL. The "Philly" bit is a tribute to the man who made the line P1 was found in...Phillthy.

The point being...the ChemSour x SSCDH seed line has put out some true champion plants.

Both great plants but my god that LL is a pretty girl. Lucky bugger you are heady. Good on ya and Im sure you will do her proud. I miss my mum that I had from the f2's and still savor both phenos when I crack a jar but the chemmy mom I had rocked.

I still have a few f2's in the stash as well as another cross or two with the Chemsour x SSCDH line. Gotta get more room and get into these beans. There is gold in them there hills *in my best gold feverish voice*.

On IG, I lurk from time to time but have not gotten the urge to create an account as of yet. I dont like that Facebook is the owner of it as you pretty much sign over all rights to them by creating an account.

My big reasoning would be to buy seeds and check out pics and if there's titties on IG, Ill find them too. But since Im a member here, dont need any beans thanks to the generosity of some great peeps, and know a place or two to find titties, I doubt Ill be signing up any time soon.

What is even more unfortunate is that folks think that these "breeders" have done something that no other person can!!! It just gets annoying to me at times....the new this crossed with that...ect. We ALL probably have some serious fire sitting in our fridge at this very moment........but yet we don't pop em....we fall into the hype and buy new gear!!!. It is a vicious cycle my friends...I fell for it for awhile and spent a shit load of $$$$ on the upcoming greatest thing since sliced bread. Bottom line is this......we have reached a point where what we have is great.....do we really think that the seeds that are being made will far surpass what we are growing at this very moment???? You folks think about that for a lil while. I will NEVER buy another seed again...I am happy with my stable. There will be nothing that can top the lineup I already have.

And when you have friends like Useful, you end up with more beans than you know what to do with any damn way...who needs to buy beans lol :)

I'll keep my eyes peeled for seeds coming out and BOGO deals that happen. I'm interested to see what happens with Neireka Seed Trust drops too as they are limited and are all of landrace genetics that you just won't find anywhere else. I have the feeling that you guys have been at the genetics collecting/trading/breeding game far longer than I so I have some lost time to make up for. I want to have my own little treasure chest to fall back on until I have satchels of my own and others' crosses. I'm sure after I've cut my teeth in this pollen game I'll be sound a lot like you seasoned chuckers. (term of endearment)
