Hi All,
Not only am I a sativa and haze enthusiast, I have lately become fascinated with breeding but I have a few questions that are somewhat on point and not too off topic for this thread.

Question: what is the correct way to force plants to self pollinate? I have read about g3, silver, aspirin, stressing, rodelization, etc. I have some plants that I severely stressed but in spite of all of my efforts, no nanners. These plants are apparently true females. Nobody has to give away any trade secrets but if you could point me in the right direction, I'll be happy to dig for it.

higher potassium, lower nitrogen, and
fucked up lighting schedules
more red light

usually best to start the vegged clone or seedling with these stressors if pollen is what you want
if from seedling then 3 weeks in start stressing them until they go into flowering. keep stressing them till you see the male flowers.
with clones you can start right after it is rooted

or

sprayed silver solution

it takes about 2-3 weeks to work

Puffin Fresh,
thanks that is a pretty heady read. Pretty scientific.

alpine star,
thanks, I tried stressing my plant with light stress, heat stress, gibberlin, crazy lighting schedules, HPS light, red lights, MH, cfl... you name it I tried it but no bananas. I must assume that she is a "true" female. I think it will take chemistry to move this cruel fox.

Argh... it takes forever for haze to flower. After reading this thread, my 15 foot monster might not make it this year. Might invest into a heater to keep her warm.... I really wanted this one the most... sigh.... :(

Beautiful Plant. I know what you mean about a plant taking forever to flower. Thats why I put my Thai project away. I hope that it all works out for you. I hope the heater gets you through.

Anyway of taking clones and running them inside? That ways even if you lose this Beautiful Huge plant in the Green House you can still have some great quality Haze smoke.

OK, I need to ask a question. What makes a HAZE, a HAZE ?
Is this term simply another word to describe a Sativa variant?
Is it a specific subset of a Sativa strain?

I'm 50+ and have heard this term many many times yet, it seems to be used as generically as Ford or Chevy.

Can someone explain the difference and what makes a Haze ?

haze is a strain that dates back to the 60s

it was created by one of the "haze bros" and refined by the help of sam the skunkman

haze is a pure sativa which includes columbian thai south indian and mexican? genetics
it can be red green and purple
it flowers from 14 to 20 weeks
it yeields like shit
but the high is a very pure thc rich sat high
the smell can be woody like sandal wood, woody like frankencense, and fruity (citrusy)

a lot of haze hybrids do not have the woody characteristics and are simply fruity satvia hybrids
i dont understand how they can call it haze...

then, some breeders in europe are starting to call any sat a haze even if it doesnt have haze in it

That is exactly what prompts my question.

columbian thai south indian and mexican
So, if I have seeds of: Skunk#1 (75% Sativa, 25% Indica) from Dutch Passion was originally a cross between 25% Afghani, 25% Mexican Acapulco Gold and 50% Colombian Gold, I have a HAZE strain ?

My frostless wonder is a cross between Master Kush x Skunk #1
It went 14 weeks, was 85% cloudy, 5% amber and 10% clear.
Are you saying that if I allowed this strain to grow for 6 more weeks she would have truly finished proper ?

love?

If a strain has "haze" in it's name IMO it should have Haze Brothers' Original Haze somewhere in the lineage and I'm sure many (but not all) here at ICmag will agree with me.

True.

If It is Thai call it Thai, If it is Colombian call it Colombian, if it is Mexican call it Mexican and so on and so forth. Not any and all Sativa's are HAZE.

Like I had said what I was gifted was given to me as HAZE, there was no other name attached to it. Simply HAZE. The great gentleman that kept this line has since passed and so I can't go to him and ask him questions. I don't want to bother his family, but I am going to grow these new sprouts out and will put up photo's every great once in awhile.

neither of those would be considered haze, or to be of any haze lineage.

regions like afghanistan, mexico, etc have a fair amount of diversity amongst their "landrace" type strains. As such, just because on paper a strain is identical, it does not necessarily mean they are the same.

haze is bred to be a long flowering, low yielding, cannabinoid bomb. Skunk is bred to be shorter flowering sativa-type high, with moderate to above average yields....a commercial tool.

OK, now I'm even more confused as to what a HAZE is !
It isn't a specific strain, it isn't even a specific combination of strains.
It's a Sativa but, not any ordinary Sativa

I guess, if I held some in my hand I wouldn't know it.

Some "Breeders" over in Europe are using the word Haze to describe hybrids for marketing purposes, just like the Cali "Kushes".

, Positronic's "Original Haze", not to be confused with Positronic's "Purple Haze". Sam says the Positronic stock came from him, originally.

its a 4 way hybrid consistin of the afore mentioned sativa lines. all sativas, hence a pure sativa.

CBF

OK, so if I acquired landrace sativas from the same locations and mixed them together, what are the chances I would end up with HAZE ?

Is this HAZE simply a trait that has been isolated? Would seeds from the original seed lot produce non-haze plants?

I get really confused with all these names and descriptions.
That is why I decided to grow landrace strains, to get away from the personally-named strains as I found they told me nothing about what I should expect from the plant itself.

My landrace Ethiopian looks very similar to the photo's above except it doesn't have those chocolate brown leaves. (yet)

I guess I'm wondering if I might get a HAZE pheno out of this batch of seeds while other seeds produce another pheno/effect ?

You would have a 0% chance of recreating haze, it is not a trait or a pheno, it is an actual strain just like anything else youd grow.
You should read the sticky about haze at the top of the page.
