The Blueberry Hunt: Chasing Terps with Blueberry Muffin #4 (Hendrx/HSC Breeder Cut)

VEG DAY 16

Welcome, everyone! The last run in my blueberry hunt was shared here, where I explored several great strains and even made some beans to dive into later with my Shishkaberry keeper. One standout from that run was Blueberry Pancakes—it truly lived up to every expectation!

Unfortunately, I made the mistake of putting the plant outside in hopes of re-vegging it, but it never came back. Lesson learned—always clone your favorites! Thankfully, I still have half the pack left to run in the future. And also seeded it up with my shishkaberry. Excited to run those in future. And happy to spread seeds to anyone looking to hunt!

For now, I’m shifting focus to Blueberry Muffins. I received 12 unrooted clones and immediately placed them into my EZ Cloner with just plain water. I prefer unrooted clones since they seem to handle shipping better. After 10 days in the cloner, roots were well-established, and I transplanted them into solo cups on 11/7. I also moved 3 of them into DWC buckets.

This is my first run using DWC buckets and my second run in hydroponics overall, so I’m still learning. Getting the pH balanced has been a bit tricky. It seems the DWC system isn’t circulating water between buckets effectively. I’ve had to manually adjust each bucket by emptying water to make the levels equal. Currently, I’m noticing a slight pH variance of 0.1–0.2 between buckets, so I’ve been managing them individually rather than relying solely on the control bucket.

The other 9 clones were vegged in solo cups using a 70/30 mix of Canna Coco and perlite. They had a 10-day veg in the solo cups before being transplanted into 3-liter plastic pots on 11/17. Seven of these were transplanted with the 70/30 coco-perlite mix, but I ran out of mix and didn’t want to buy another bag for the remaining two. Instead, I used some leftover soil I made a few runs ago based on the Dank.Frank legendary soil mix with a few tweaks. This has turned into an unplanned but exciting side-by-side comparison to see which medium produces the best results.

The plants have been topped twice. Once weekly so far.

For nutrients, I’m following the Athena Blended Schedule.

• DWC: Currently at 0.4 EC.

• Coco and soil: Following the standard feeding program.

I’ve also been spraying ½ tsp of Epsom salt in 800 ml of water weekly.

Here’s a breakdown of the lighting setup (totaling 1,170 watts):

• Mars Hydro TS3000. (DWC)

• Mars Hydro FC4000.

• Sonofarm SF4000.

For IPM, I’ve been using CannControl weekly as a preventative measure, even though I haven’t seen any pest issues—just staying vigilant, especially when working with clones.

The Blueberry Muffins hunt should be interesting! There are two breeder cuts worth mentioning:

1. Blueberry Muffin #10 - This cut won awards back in 2017.

2. Blueberry Muffin #4 - Worked by Hendrx and Humboldt Seed Company for increased yield and THC.

I am running the #4. You can find more details about both cuts online at Hendrx, so I won’t dive into the specifics here. The #4 cut should have clones available next season on the West Coast from Hendrx, though I’m on the East Coast.

Looking forward to seeing how everything turns out!

P.S Sorry for the delayed start here! I’m using posting updates on IG, if I ever forget to here. “HeadyEffect” is the username.

Wow that's very interesting.
I am just now finishing Blueberry Muffin, a cut from Austria. That strain is so fast, the cut I have is done in 7 weeks. Crazy branch growth. It will be interesting to compare it to the cuts worked by Humboldt!
Good luck and keep posting;)
