Hawaiian Sativas

I am curious as to some of the reasons it seems Mexican landrace was favored over Colombian in the history of Hawaiian growing and breeding. Is Colombian really that much more prone to mold in general or are there other reasons? Some of this curiosity stems from the fact I live at higher elevation in upper Puna.
I am curious about that also. I think that alot of it is based on the BOEL's experience in Maui. Maybe the variety of Colombian they brought in didn't like weather on the north shore or upcountry Maui. Who's to say other Colombians (such as lowland Colombians) didn't work in other Hawaii microclimates. BOEL weren't the only growers in Hawaii in the late 60's on ward.

Possibly Colombians and Thais are too long in flower

mexican and Swazi are shorter flowering times and more likely to make it to harvest before a major rain event

I’ve long wondered how much Mexican cattle industry and its culture being imported into Hawaii in the 1830’s influenced things . It had a large impact on the big island .
1842 is the first known reference to the word pakalolo

That’s a beauty..... how’s those make flowers in the back ground!?

Is that an Heirloom strain? I’ve never heard of it
The plant with the flowers is Leonurus sibiricus. Astur Jaya is a small breeder from Spain. I think this Mexican variety was collected in the 1980s, perhaps earlier.

Yes I was wondering that.
I’ve heard some phenos of Fed Hawaiian have the red stem trait too and Also Have the banana shaped buds like
The pic @MAHA KALA has above.
I grew fed hawaiian and there is mexican for sure, but also something like swazi in there... I can smell it during mid flowering, I grew durban next to it and smells were similar, but then fed haw changed into more to mexican side. and there is some indica too, something like chitral imo.

my kona gold cut contains mexican for sure, but also some indica to it.

Jay from Federation/Next generation mentions the addition of more BLD into their hawaiin Sativa on his potcast interview.

Wasn’t exactly sure if he meant back in the day at federation or in his next generation release(which is now BLD heavy).

I can’t see your pics unfortunately.

Loving the Mr sparkle crosses man. looking forward to how extreme you can push him with different partners :)
