Hawaiian Sativas

I cant remember if I ever had weed, which was happy, warm and in the same time it would be trippy. no...

Are these all present in hawaiian sativas? It's known for being a kind smoke so hopefully so.

I did have some amazing trippy stuff years ago grown from seeds from a rasta in a judo suit. They were pure lemon drops in taste, quazy in growth and a real trippy high, a touch too introspective for me.

When you say warm, do you mean metaphysically or physically? Most trippy stuff can make me physically a bit cold.

I wonder if Romulan shares some ancestry similar to Hawaiians.

The butterskotch Hawaiian, is it called this due to smell as one of the Romulan F2s smells like sugared popcorn.

Or maybe called due to small cluster of golden buds...

Found this old picture from a job site in Opihikao (lower Puna Big Island), circa January 1998. No idea what the strain was since it wasn't mine, but looks like a nice short season sativa. Likely would have gotten huge grown long season, but was about 4 feet short season. Some of the growers I knew that didn't like 90 day wonders opted to grow strains in short season only. Made it a habit to never mess with others' plants. Karma is a bitch especially on an island.

Hey dudes, any one on the Big Island got tips for where to get organic fertilizers now that 2 of the grow shops are closed (probably during COVID bs, I've been taking a break from growing)? Also ACE doesn't have the selection it once did.

I need to get the 1 gallon fox farm grow big also to spare my back when it's giving me problems. I'm on Kona side. I haven't been able to check the Farm and Garden store near costco yet. I know walmart will ship but requires you to make an online account to order.

WTF are people going to get stuff these days? I am not putting miracle grow or any of that other trash on my plants.

That looks alot like what i assume to be Swazi phenos in Nevil's Nl5 cut. I have MNS Ortega (nl5 x nl1) that is Swazi leaning and it has similar flower tops as in that photo. abit leafy spear like colas. Leaf trait is similar looking too, saw blade like small serration

Sorry i don’t have photos of that MNS Ortega but the colas look quite close to the plant in that photo

My guess is they were Indica’d
I wonder where all those super strong trippy hawaiians went?

poor breeding practices ended up with an inferior quality.
Your answer was on page 4 of this thread. Indica didn’t destroy the gene pool, colchicine did.
It’s probably also why so many people are suffering from CHMS.

‘In all three anti-GMO bills, “gene doubling” is expressly identified as a form of genetic modification subject to the law. The most potent (eta stupefying/couch locking) forms of marijuana are modified by a primitive genetic modification technique which involves soaking the seeds in colchicine—a carcinogenic derivative of crocus bulbs--until the DNA doubles (or even quadruples) which in turn doubles or quadruples the production of THC. This method produces the highest potency, (eta lowest quality), marijuana varieties and seeds commonly sold by online vendors.’

You have a unique opportunity to maintain a diverse population of none gmo weed where you are if you all had your plants dna tested and got rid of anything illegal.

I am curious as to some of the reasons it seems Mexican landrace was favored over Colombian in the history of Hawaiian growing and breeding. Is Colombian really that much more prone to mold in general or are there other reasons? Some of this curiosity stems from the fact I live at higher elevation in upper Puna.

I've grown Swazi for a long time that was originally acquired from the Puna district. The leaves look similar, but the buds on this plants were much thicker (especially considering they were short season). It could have been a cross with Swazi though. I have a picture of a Swazi grown outside in Hawaiian Beaches (long season) which is similar climate (although a little rainier) than Opihikao. It's the 2nd post in the thread entitled: Swazi (IBL Lower Puna ). I have no idea how to copy the photos or else I would have. This particular Swazi was acclimated to lower Puna for many years, and used to be prevalent from the 4 corners area to Kalapana.
