When is the EXT420 two stage kit from Haskel coming out?

It has been available for some time, but beyond marveling at the original prototype, have never used one, as we have our own re-plumbing scheme with two 3-ways, vis a vis one two way and two check valves.

Have you checked with your friendly neighborhood Haskel rep? I get good service from Joe at HIS locally, but Dave may be able to steer you to someone closer.

FLW is the Haskel Rep in California and stock EXT420 re-plumb kits. It's $900 and if you want you can send in your pump for modification no additional cost but shipping. If you live in California and own a Haskel these are guys to call for repairs, parts or questions.

Glad to hear you found FLW! FLW and Hoffman are both trying to stock the pumps and the kits.

Thanks!

I'm running off grid and don't have spare electricity for a refrigerated dryer. What filters do you recommend? I have a Numatics P32B-04G particulate/regulator but I know I need more. Everything is still in the box so we're in the theoretical stage.

Dave will ostensibly have to know what you are using for a compressor and your local climatic conditions, to access water content.

Chicago Pneumatic 5-HP 60-Gallon Dual-Voltage Two-Stage Air Compressor and it lives inside. I live on the coast so foggy mornings with sunny moist afternoons.

Sorry, but I'm not going to be much help here, this is outside my knowledge area. I would talk to a compressor distributor (not Home Depot or Sears or anything like that, but an actual industrial compressor distributor) to see what options are available.

Some help here. Ostensibly your compressor is too small for a Haskel EXT-420 to operate at 50 psi at full capacity. The pump is rated at 40 scfm at 100 psi, which we operate at around 25 scfm at 50 psi, theoretically requiring between 6 to 7 horsepower from a screw compressor.

I've run them on a 7.5 hp screw compressor, but the compressor was able to maintain only about 80 psi, with a set point of 110 psi.

It is a constant displacement pump, so it will continue to work, just not at full capacity using only 5 hp.

As far as water removal requirements, I'll leave that to Dave.

Just to clarify on what Gray Wolf said, he is correct, the compressor is too small to run an EXT420 at full speed, but it will run, just not at full speed. The drop-off is pretty linear, so if the 5 HP compressor can only provide 20 CFM of air, the EXT420 would run about 4/5 the normal 60 strokes per minute or approximately 45 cycles per minute (this is an example, actual results could differ).

What I was saying I didn't have much knowledge on is water removal, I know there are some very good static filters (no power or cooling required), but it's not an area I have much experience with. A good compressor distributor or Jeff from Ingersoll Rand can be a good asset.

I know a few decades ago I was given a 30 gallon barrel of Alumina when the local Gas Supply stopped fractionating their own gases here.
They gave it to me since they knew I was running a SCUBA compressor and filling tanks at the time. Filling several tanks would only require a small amount of the alumina in a cartridge filter I repacked.
I eventually threw away 29+ gallons.
If you arent worried about oil compounds in the alumina like I was filling to 2200psi w a sorta sketchy old rig... you dont even need to discard it between uses, just dry it.

BHOgart would have the # I bet
they even messaged me back about a 404 link error on their site recently I pointed out w the site contact form
those dont always get returned, from most sites
(possibly not even read, heh)

I get my pumps and parts from Joe at [email protected]. He can provide part numbers, prices, and delivery.

There are actually 4 kits necessary for a complete rebuild:

Air Cycling Valve: 16771
Air Drive: 16772
Gas Section: 29017
Distance Piece: 17327

As GW said, Joe at Hoffman or any Haskel distributor can help you with pricing.

Thanks,

Dave

Having some trouble rebuilding out Haskell. I can't seem to get the bottom half unscrewed from the top half of the pump. Right after the step where you remove the pin. I work right down the street from Terpp Extractors (where I got the pump) and we threw it in the vice and had three of us going at it with no luck. Any ideas? Dave, please help!
