GROW TENTS !!!!!!!!!

Is the secret jardin worth the price difference compared to a homebox? From what I've read so far it looks like the secret jardin is more prone to pin holes, and light leaks. Where as most homebox owners are not reporting any light leaks.

I'm wanting to get one of the 4x4x6.5 for my 600W HPS setup. What is the most efficient way of cooling, & carbon scrubbing, if you want to use CO2 injection?

Thanks for the help,

I have pinhole leaks visible in my secret jardin. I am still happy with it, but haven't completed a full cycle yet.

I think the most efficient way of cooling with co2 would be something like the above picture. Just have the vortex on the outside and suck air from one side of the tent to the other.

You've basically got it right, though all the silver lined tents in general have these pinholes. I hear the same thing about the Growlab tents for example.

Essentially, the reflective/silver material they use does not "close up" when punctured, whereas the white plastic used in the older style tents does tend to do so.

Its really not a problem imo, as these pinholes let through a minuscule amount of light. Very easy fix too - once your tent is setup, if you have a few and are worried about it, you can just hit them with a dot of paint from the outside.

About the price difference.. A 47 inch Homebox XL is about 225 dollars. A 47 inch DR120 is 210. Very close, so I'd get whichever tent floats your boat, as with experience I can tell you both are excellent.

I use a tiny square of duct tape on the inside to patch up those holes. But ultimately it doesn't make that much difference. People should remember, cannabis grown outdoors still encounters moonlight. As long as the light isn't too intense, the risk of herming out is slim to none, barring genetic tendencies, of course.

I agree with your good advice. A friend of mine has a DR80, while I have a Homebox. The differences are few and the construction of both tents is top notch.

Safe to say, if there's a tent with poor quality construction, some ICmagger will out that bitch in a heartbeat.

Hi all,

I have the 1x1x2m Budbox (silver) and i wonder if someone could give me some ideas on what reflector would be best in my grow tent? Batwing, Air-cooled etc... Also has anyone got any info on this grow tent? Good or bad.

got a question about this set-up. for the air getting sucked out do u need to attach a fan to it also? I notice he said his carbon filter is attach to a fan to suck the air through the filter then across the light. Will the other end is there a fan attach to it outside of the tent?

I think I understand your question, sorry if this isn't what you were asking, anyways....... it goes like this:
CARBON FILTER-------->LIGHT--------------->FAN----------->VENT OUTSIDE.
Summary: Pull air through the carbon filter, through the light, through the fan, and then attach the other end of the fan to a vent outside. You could also do CARBON FILTER----->FAN-------->LIGHT------->VENT OUTSIDE

Hey all. I'm considering getting a the xl tent from HTG Supply. Im not sure the size fan required for venting w/charcoal filter. The tent is about 275 cubic feet.

I forgot and am having trouble finding the formula for figuring out the fan size thats needed.

Any help would be appreciated.

Any of you using the secret jardin tents notice that the sides are somewhat transparent and let light through. The front does not but my left side is not against a wall and when the lights are off in the room but on in the tent I can see the outline of the foot print.

Anyone else experience this? Think that under 100watts of cfls in the grow room(outside the tent) is enough to penetrate the tent and go back into the room?

Thoughts plz.

hey all, i just got a homebox XL from 4hydroponics and i think i'm gonna like it. it wasnt very hard to setup, even with the very limited space i had, and i can definately see a lot of light coming through from the HID but with the light off it's pretty much pitch black in there.

anyway, i got a question that i'm sure has been answered before but i searched the thread and didnt find a definite answer. i'm sure these tents are safe from off-gassing and whatnot but i heard some stuff about the removable floor causing problems. you guys think its safe or should i just ditch the floor? i'd be immensely pissed off if i killed these seedlings

Hey question for you guys? The vent ducting that you are using with your fans, how do you keep the noise down from the air whooshing through the tent? My 6' vortexes are crazy loud, luckily i'm still in the seedling stage growing my little girls into beautiful ladies but i'm scared as hell to turn the fans on. And i can already tell that heat's gonna be a problem. I'm running a hydrofarm habitat 4x5x6 400watt not aircooled and two 6' vortex fans one for intake and the other for out take. Question? do you guys think if I used the blk plastic gutter drainage pipe for my ventilation ducting i can cut down on the noise of my fans or do i just have to live with the sound of a rocket living in my closet? appreciate all the help peace!!!

Well you can use a fan speed controller - turn down your fan speed so you don't get too much noise.

You can also try a silencer or muffler (similar thing, goes on the exhaust, but not the best imo)

I use insulated ducting, but it doesn't make too much of a difference compared to the hassle of getting it all setup.

As you can see below - it's pretty bulky and there's still a wooshing..

Maybe a combination of all of them?

whats up people. I got a question for anyone that can help. I'm using a homebox 4x4 with one of those dayton blowers (not an inline) for the exhaust. . Its one of the ones rated at 465 cfm. Anyway I just got a carbon filter (one of the cheaper 70 dollar ones), and I connected it to the sucking side of the exhaust fan, but after I hooked it up I noticed the opposite side of the fan has openings that also sucks some air which doesnt go through the filter. it goes straight out the exhaust. So I'm wondering what is the best way to use the fan that I have with a carbon filter. I'm thinking the only way would be to have the fan outside, maybe on top of the tent. thanks

I have a secret jardin DR150 with a 600 watt currently running and I feel like I could easily add another 400 or maybe even 600.

I feel like you are one of the few folks who is truly taking advantage of their space currently (as is). Have you harvested a full trip yet and where'd the scale stop bouncing?

The ceiling support beams on the HTG Supply tent are a joke compared to the Secret Jardin Darkroom tents, or most other brands on the market.

The vent placement doesn't make a lot of sense either, like why does their 4x4 tent for example only have 6'' venting holes on the top, then, randomly, 5'' ports on the sides, and then 4'' ones on the back?

Nothing against HTG personally, seems the place to go if you're broke as a joke, but for a little more money a Darkroom or Homebox tent would offer better features and a more sensible layout.

The site is not up to date on the 4x4- I don't know about the others just the 4x4, but the ports that say 5" are 6"- 2 on top 1 on each side. They do have thin steel rods for the top tent support, but that seems to be just for the tent part becaus they also have heavier bars (same size of the frame) that go along the top that can hold a ton of weight. Nobody would know this from their site though- I don't know why they don't update it. Later

I haven't flowered in the Secret Jardin DR150, and I don't see myself doing so until winter hits again. I am trying to get everything ready for summer outdoors. Right now I have plants in 19 x 3 gallon plant bags, 1 x 5 gallon plant bag, and like 10 seedlings in 16 oz solo cups. I still have extra space in the DR150.

There is enough room in the dr 150 for about 10-14 x 3 more gallon bags if you max it out space wise. (so maybe like 5 rows of 6 = 30 total)

There is currently 1 600 watt digital HPS with a 6inch vortex sucking out the air with no filter on the other side. I definitely could add another 600 with no problems using the same vortex, but I would add another vortex if I added a scrubber.

I almost got myself stuck inside the dr150 while I was watering and zipped it up to keep light from leaking out - the zipper got stuck where I had no room to get out and everything was sealed. I just took my time and relaxed and wiggled the zipper free, not too scary - just funny.

So far I am happy with the $350 i spent.
