Upgrading the 150 HPS too?

Yup. To an aircooled 250w.
Real fans, reflectors etc. No DIY this time around.

I want to go bigger, but the little lady wants to start small and see how that impacts the power bill. I'd like a 400w for the winter months. The 250w is great for fall and spring and for lighting a smaller tent when I inevitably purchase one.

I've been looking back at the thread and I can kinda see where people are coming from when they say that the roof structure of the tent doesn't look like it can hold much weight. Another member on the boards was talking about the inline carbon scrubbers from plantlightinghydroponics.com

I wonder how heavy and effective they are?

Not effective at all for odor.
I turned mine into intake filters to block bugs and stuff.

Oh.

Well, that settles that. Any suggestions for carbon scrubbers? I'd like to have one that accommodates 6" ducting so I won't have to use reducers, etc.

Quick Homebox L question

Quick Homebox L question

I just bought a Homebox L (39x39) and noticed that the web site shows two different types of roof supports.

They show one type (looks weaker) in the pictures on their web site:

And they show another type (looks stronger) in the video they put on youtube (see what I mean at 1:34):

For those who recently bought a Homebox L, can you tell me which kind of roof supports you have?

I bought a Homebox XL a couple months ago. It came with the supports in the video. Buuut, I think I got jipped after seeing this movie. I am sure I only got 2 support bars and no straps like shown in the video. grrrrr.

Hey panopticist.

I use a can33 scrubber which came with a 6'' flange. They (Can brand) come open and then you screw on the flange with self-tapering screws. I used this in my 4x4 and now 5x5 flowering tent.

Really though, I recommend you make your choice based around the amount of airflow you'll be pulling through it. If you'll be using a 6'' vortex at 450cfm or so (full speed), you'll want a can66 for example. I use a 6'' vortex for exhaust, but keep it at 70% power or so with a speed controller so it is ok with my can33 and maintains negative pressure in my tent. (matching/slightly exceeding the intake basically)

If you know what kind of fan you're using I'd be happy to help pick a scrubber, and either way just make sure they match up rating wise.

Hey enjoy your posts around the site btw.

Dope...

I was leaning towards something like this...
http://www.plantlightinghydroponics.com/valueline-inch-centrifugal-inline-fan-p-2260.html

It's a Vortex knock-off for a good price and people have said positive things about them. The brand is Valuline, I think. The link above has all the specs.
I'm going to have to get a speed controller for it, but I want to know that the ventilation power is there if I need it.

Glad my posts have helped, informed, or entertained. I'm just trying to keep the good shit goin' here on ICmag. This place is kinda like a second home...

Thanks for your help by the way...

The help is no problem, glad to save you a little research time if possible.

Yeah that fan looks nice, would be a good match for a can66 or can33 if you intend to run it slower.

Appreciate your attitude man, I know how you feel.

Take care!

I'm thinking about running 4x4 tents in one room with 2 vortexes (6 inch,) and one carbon scrubber (phat 375cfm.)

I'm wondering, if I cool the lights with one vortex (pulling cool air from the room through lights and through a boarded up window,) and pull through the scrubber out the window with the other one, will the one cooling the lights suck out smelly air? How should I set that up?

*edit* Nevermind that^ I thought about it and realized I can have the lights intake suck cold air through the board from the window. yeehaw.

I'd go in if you can... they have quality control issues with these tents... I got one and one of the poles didn't fit right and ripped a seem when I tried to zip it up... they exchanged it with little hassle (made me show them wtf happened) One of the guys wanted to give me an old version "b/c thats all they had left" and I gave him a dirty ass look and I'm guessing his boss was like wtf? give him the new one. BE CAREFUL! They are much friendlier and helpful at the pasadena storefront the other is just a warehouse with offices... Have to pay a little extra but it'll be worth it to be able to check all the poles so you don't end up having to pay more for shipping and the extra hassle.
