croptober-wattup maing,thanks for chiming in....much appreciated.
peace-T-

tleaf-sup homie...ryt on maing,appreciate the chime in.
yup yup homie...it all starts in veg yo...gotta keep veg tight to have healthy plants to flip.
im glad you grabbed something up and rolled w it.
peace-T-

sirsmoke-wattup brotha, good to see you as always my friend.yea that Irene is a bad bitch,i have some more in the freshest group in...she does pretty good when vegged up nice.
the nutes I been using the last couple runs don't let her bulk up even as much as she can do....hence I switched nutes this week for everything but the oldest run in flower.
see if I can get things back where they're supposed to be as far as the numbers go.
and LOL about the bamboo, its a labor of love yo...gotta get it done or everytime ill be hating myself for not doing it.
peace-T-

leel-whats good broski....been a long time yo...
lol you don't need to be anyones apprentice homie, all u need is soil seeds and some light, ive seen what u can pull off!
im good, hope things are all good out ur way.
peace-T-

ok so like I was tellin sirsmoke...I switched nutes again, the Hydroponic Research Veg+Bloom are good nutes, they do grow some quality weed, its top shelf around here again finally, and they did get everything back on track...theyre a decent nute and they do what they say they do,but they don't do it enough for me.i know what my strains and lights can do and the last 3 harvests ive taken a beating as far as yield goes,i get about half of whats been there consistently for years...no bueno...I don't know if its due to the type of plants I grow, the way I grow, that im in soil,or if they just don't give enough punch for the 8k im rockin w them....no clue but they aint makin it do what it do on the back end....
im not bashing these nutes either so don't take it that way anyone that was going to give them a run, just saying they don't push the plants enough for me.they almost make me feel like theyre aggressively growing more leaf then bud...wild yo
it also takes way too much to get the ppm/EC up to where my plants can take it to make it an efficient nute in my rooms...I can get maybe 1.5 - 2 runs off of a 5 lb tub so that w the price is no good for my setup if they aint gonna yield....switched to the Heavy 16 lineup after a bunch of reading and researching...

picture.php

hope they live up to my expectations...

now a couple veg shots...

tucked away behind the mamas...

1 gallon veg pots, bubbas, irenes, permafrost, strawberry kush, jack the ripper, casey jones...i think I threw a black domina in there...a few others I forget off the top of my head.

Your shit is looking awesome!!!! No wonder you won for best room!!! I wish I had a room that big to work in.

Really like the looks of that mutant you have. Makes me wanna smoke those nodes on a stick, lol. Have you thought about cloning that branch and seeing if the trait continues?

That's what I would do. One of those things when you've been growing for so long, shit like that becomes interesting. Even though it would be a shit yield most of the time, it would still be worth growing to me, just for the looks.

DTOG-sup maing, thanks for droppin thru...appreciate the kind words.
things are getting back on point for sure, was a bumpy last few months(about 8 months)
but it made me smarter and wiser i hope.it is an honor to have the win no doubt,i think i won the very 1st one too...pretty cool...also where i got my og chem,i chose that for my prize and it was a win/win :smoke:.

as far as the mutant, crazy right?...idk if ill clone it,its so far into flower itll probably be a waste of my time, maybe i will though...if i wouldve thought about it earlier in flower i probably would have.i shouldve showed it sooner hahaha...not something id want to grow out in a mono crop though LOL...
and yes i will be smoking them nodes to see what they do :D

also ive been mowing over the idea of making the switch to all DE bulbs, reflectors and digital ballasts...im oldschool and have been rolling with what worked for me for so long I havnt even been reading up on the new technology, with the exception of some of the led's just out of curiosity.i don't think id make that leap yet for sure....

anyways what I was wondering is if any of you guys have some knowledge on these DE fixtures..ive been reading on them a little but there are so many different variations it gets a little foggy after a while...I have just over 7 ft ceilings,i know these fixtures burn brighter and they need to be somewhat higher...some of the stuff im reading says that the 600 w DE bulbs are as good as a regular 1k,i find that hard to believe myself.
id like to stick with 1k's,or with some that could be adjusted...600 1k etc...if they have them..i seen some of them look like they have the ballast connected to the hood or something....whats that about?
and some of them are regular looking for the most part, with hoods and ballasts separate.
like I said im way clueless on these things so any info/knowledge that anyone might have is appreciated...

Pretty sure the De bulbs with the ballast connected right to the hood, are set up that way to keep the heat centralized to one location. But like you noticed they can be run remotely as well, with the ballast in another room if you want.

From what I've read here, they put out a considerable amount of heat. They don't have hook-ups to be air-cooled. So they would strictly for winter grows or if you have a good ac system.

Here's a link to their site:http://www.gavita-holland.com/index.php/products/proline/item/gavita-pro-1000-de.html

Tona - the Gavita DE fixtures - are the way to go. Talking 3# per light becoming the norm.

That aside - the distance from the bulb being discussed as a limiting factor - I don't get it. I mean, you don't NEED 12ft ceilings...you can have 5 ft ceilings as long as you are only growing 2ft tall plants...lol. I don't know why people loose perspective on that matter...

You'll save so much only having to replace those bulbs every 2 years vs every 6 months. Also, if you can't run the full 1k - then dimming the ballast down creates an inefficiency in power usage that could simply be avoided by running a proper sized lamp for your area.

Get the Gavita DE Flex - and dial it UP to 825 vs dialing the 1k down if you are looking to find that goldie locks balance.

I think - it is theWhiteLotus - who is running the Gavita DE Flex 600/750/825 - and he is averaging 1.5# per lamp if I'm not mistaken.

I mean, think about it - if you can run 750w across 8 lamps - that's a 2k reduction in power usage. If your yields remain the same...lol...why would you NOT make the switch?? It's simple economics....reduce expenses, increase profits margins. In three cycles they will have paid for themselves in power savings alone. :joint:
