Hey guys, here I am back with 5 new ChocoTonic F1 from seed almost at the end of flowering. They are at 63 days of flowering alone under 2x400W cooltubed hps, where I had some more plants in the last couple of months. The medium is re-used coco fiber mixed to some soil and a bunch of perlite in 6,5 liters pot.
As promised to ''you know what you are'' here is some feedbacks on this strain.
All the next plants are all different seeds from the same mom, and they're not clones. This mean they take some more days to fully mature, they stretched a little more than clones, and probably have a little better yield than clone, but I'm not sure on this latter point....
However there are various phenotypes pretty summarized like:
No one plant out of these CT F1 is really an Indica or a Sativa plant. They're far away from that, so this strain overall is a balanced hybrid.
However 25% (to give an imprecise data) has a tendency to grow more like sativa plants, taking more time to finish the flowering like 75 or 80 days, with huge yield. you can recognize this pheno by its leaves and its flowers that tends to be more airy then the Indica pheno.
Other 25% is represented by the Indica pheno, that I have to admit, it's my favorite! It grows bushy and short with a very limited stretch. It's pretty easy to see red/purple/black coloration at the end of flowering, but it also depends on T°. If there is an high termal excursion between day and night, you can see the dark coloration before the very end of flowering. It is ready in 60/65 days if grown by seed, some days less if grown from clone.
50% of the individuals are somewhat in the middle of the 2 extremes. Some more indica and some more sativa, but overal very very similar.
All the phenotipes, no one excluded has really really similar smell and taste. I can't recognize a specific pheno only with my nose, they're pretty identical. The main note on the smell is orange, sweet but also sour. It has a complex aroma profile and it resemble me some NYCD from A'dam Hunters vaped some years ago.
That said, I like pictures talk for me
Sativa pheno. Its droopy leaves are characteristic as its big yield in some more days from now
Indica pheno. As you can see the dark color it's taking its way on this plant. I hope in some cold nights because it will become a beauty for sure! However notice the smaller mass it has. It is a lower producer compared to the sativa pheno, but considering the flower time this is not true and it can produce even more buds than other phenotypes.
Hybrids They have really nice colas with a nice flower/leaf ratio and a nice yield.

Still a lot of white pistils here. I think this pheno is a little more leafy than others.

I moved this plant positioning the main cola just under the lamp and the result was a whole new growth of flowers on the main cola, where the lower buds are almost ready.

ChocoTonic F1 - Indica pheno
This one rocks the tent! It has a wonderful shape, flowers are dense, hard and smelly as a garden of flowering orange and it's very fast to ripen. It's the first pheno that shows purple and those kind of phenos show purple tissues even with high temps in very late flowering. I just love it!

Sorry for the late response and thanks for adding your opinion Sam. I agree 100% on this point. Flowers worth pretty nothing when you're making seeds, even because they do not produce so much smell comparing to a un-pollinated clone.
I waited to reply here because I was waiting for some feedback on seeds germination from some friends. At now I do know that my fresh seeds soaked in water for some times give better result in germination compared to seeds planted directly in soil.
Well, everyone can say this is pretty normal for every seed, but for fresh seeds I experienced troubles planting them directly in soil, where ''cured'' seeds had no trouble.
With ''cured'' seeds I mean just let them sit for a while in a correct environment like a closed jar in the fridge, and in this case I observed no difference in germination ratio and germination speed between soak them or not. They just sprout fast in a couple of days (the faster) or some more. Soaking them in water is pretty useless IMHO.
But if we're talking about fresh seeds, then soaking in water can bring a difference from what I experienced.
This is my kind of speculation supported by various observation and I think one of the cause that lead to a germination failure is that when a seed is germinating surrounded by water with a low level of oxygen in a medium like soil, it has to resist from the attack of pathogens.
This is the case when someone put a seed in soil, water, and after a couple of days the soil is still very wet with almost no DO in it. If the seed's shell it's hard to open for the seedlings it takes time to do it, and in this time the young seedling is in contact with many forms of life that want to ''eat'' it. If this time is too long and/or the medium has too many ''bad'' forms of life (bacteria and fungi mainly) the little seedling will die before reaches the surface, resulting in a decomposed organic matter surrounded by a semi-opened shells.
Connecting these informations I still prefer to keep seeds in my fridge for some times before sprouting. I get best results this way

I've also noticed that fresh seeds germinate more easily in water at a temperature between 18 and 23 degrees!
Many say that germinate seeds in water ruin and weaken the future plan but I honestly hav't noticed any difference, what do you think?

I haven't done any serious side-by-side, but I like to sprout the seeds in a soft medium like pure coco fiber. If I want to germinate them faster, than I soak the seeds in 20°C tap water for 12 or some more hours. That's it.
Can't say anything about the water germination can weaken the plant, but I would listen how and why.
I can say the same seeds that wouldn't open easily, now, after some months gave me 100% germination ratio on 50 seeds without any particular issue. And the seeds I'm talking about are the second choice seeds, a little white or not 100% perfect.
So far, what I can understand here, is there could be a connection between age and germination.
