Ultravoilet light - starting points of chlorophyll response - by crossing with other spectrums it helps to fill in some of the missing spectrums - can also increase glandular trichome production by signally the plant to protect itself from the harmful rays. Kind of like a sunburn response.

Infrared Light - Far Red - The study I shared talked a lot about the benefits of 735nm and its ability to help in the final stages of maturation.
hehe......you might want to read some of the stuff I've posted into the LED section, I was just asking what nm length you used for your UV..:)....
Please excuse if I sound a little facetious there, was not intended

oops hehe I totally mis-read your question haha I told them I wanted a 1:1 UVA to B. so I know one of them is 380nm(UVA) and the other should be around 280-310nm (UVB).

- I've read that article before.. its a goodie. Nice coincidence
:)

Stage One of Rebuild

Stage One of Rebuild

So today i actually had the opportunity to start rebuilding our grow room.

My game plan is to design a rad lil' Vert Donut

  • 52" x 68" x 108"
  • Single vertical cool-tube in the center
  • Tube modified to house two bulbs (600w HPS and 400w MH)
  • Custom 140w LED on a light mover. Travels along one side of the donut. Taking a bite out of approx. 25% of the plants.

So far I have the bare outline and a dream. Tomorrow I will put some more sweat into it.

Check out some new pictures of the LEDS set up in their temporary homes and positions. The new X3 lens that these LED have kicks ass compared to the old single watt lenseless UFOs

I also have some new faces in the mix: Dill, Rosemary, Mint and Lavender.

They all have their magic powers like Dill being a natural spider mite repellant. So you can plant them near your ladies and they will be turned away by Dills potent compounds. and I use the others in bio teas to protect against pests and disease.

The 140w covers about Meter Square from 2 ft up and the 210W covers 1.5 Meters Square from 2 ft up.

The 210 VEG LED is my favorite acquisition and the light mover will make the most out of the 140W until Santa orders me more for christmas. :p

The dealer I'm working with is offering me sweet deals to order more. ;) I picked these both up for 500 bucks including my upgraded diode choices and express shipping

Piece by piece hour by hour I am working my way to my improved system.

I still need to source some panda wrap or a cheap alternative if you folks know of any... and a shower liner for the floor.

but here is a trial layout with dub-tube and the LED on a light mover... Just imagine next round with larger vegged plants and the fact that I can lower the platform because they are milk cartons. oh yea.. :dance013:

I think I'm just going to try different things and try and learn as much as possible.

After this quick cycle. I have a cycle of lanky ladies on deck... Its going to be fun :)

- 4 Silver Kushs, Sweet Skunk and BC Hashplant

So far they are growing well under the lights with no adverse reactions. I actually thought that the LED would be too intense for them at first. So I started the light a meter above the canopy and now I'm down to a 1.5ft and a half. all I've seen is growth..

First round of photos are up...

bye bye vert.. hello more clean a and accessible set-up.

With my small plant limit I would be pushing the vert set-up. This basic set-up allows me to keep it chill for my wide assortment of plants.

I still have lots of work to do: including save up for one more 600w bulb so I can hook up another light over the 4 huge pots I sourced. Which should make some lil' monsters.

My plants will be happy for the controlled environment and more attention from me. I over ferted once last week and I hope to make up for it in these last weeks.
