This is a difficult question for me. The smell is complex. I would say floral with a very subtle background of menthol. The menthol is way in the background. I can tell you what it is not. It is not sweet or citrus. I have a second PBB a few weeks behind her and she has a much more pronounced sweet , hint of citrus menthol aroma. I have a strain that was gifted to me in 1997 by an old grower from the hills of so. Cal that he had been growing since the early 80' s that has a very strong lemon aroma. That is easy to describe, but this plant is so complex in it's aromas it is difficult to nail it down. It's like smelling flowers in my backyard garden. I must say, I am LOVING it! I am excited to see what the F2'S will bring and my lemon bud crossed with it will bring out. Well crossed with my #5 male lol.

Sounds terrific!
Some will get the pineapple smell after harvest, the Menthol is definitely from the Hawaiian.
I must say am intrigued about your Lemon strain. I would think that could make some interesting crosses with PBB.
Is Lemon a Sativa or Indica dominate? Did you keep that line pure? and do you have pics of her?

Sativa dominant. I have not bred anything with her. I really wanted to keep her as I got her. I have just been cloning and veging. ( And reversed her Incase I lost her) She seems to be developing some health issues, vigor is ok, dropped a bit, and s ome leaf issues so I am so happy to have a pure line I can give her some cpr with. I really have no idea what she is. Must have some indica in her because she matures in about 8-9 weeks and has pretty compact flowers. But leaf structure and high are sativa. I am hoping I can backcross a Hawaiian dominant PBB maybe 3x to her and see if I can revitalize her. This is the only pic I have of her at the moment. It's at about 8 weeks...I think. Can't remember exactly.

That sounds a lot like his stain I got years ago as Jordan of the Island Purps, though there is purple in the leaves these are very lemon/citrus 8 to 9 weeks flower great flower to leaf ratio/ easy trim solid very up happy high.

Pretty close if not spot on. If this is the case that's amazing. I have spent many many hours and days researching what I might have only to come up empty lol. I just harvested some about 2 weeks ago. Here it is.

NICE!
I know a lot of the Cali Genetics made its way to Vancouver area and a lot of great breeders are in Cali and many up in BC I wondered if was related to lemon Skunk? But Lemon Skunk is more leafy.
Do you know if your girl is from a stabilized or inbred line?
I am on my f3's on these seem to be pretty stable and all have the Lemon/citrus smell.
I plan on doing a sizable seed repro this coming summer. I started with 20 seeds years ago and only two popped fortunately a boy and a girl.
So I ran with them.

I really don't know. At the time I was just getting more serious about growing and met him through a very nice hippy lady and he gifted me a cut. He also gave me some seeds which I still have some in the vault. I didn't realize the gems I had. Some where very sativa some purple. I only kept the cut because it was something he liked. I also received some Hawaiian seeds which I grew 2 and they took over my entire tent. I had those branches weaved everywhere! Tried to crack a few remaining but they didn't germinate. Going to try the remaining I have left but I am waiting to see if I can learn some tricks. They came from the hippy lady that said her friend brought them back from some locals. She said they were hard to get and I think her friend may have had to be very "friendly" to get them lol Think I may need to see what will germinate considering their age. I just got caught up in the hype strains for a while. But I am getting back to my roots now.

Sorry for the long response. I guess my answer should have just been...no lol. I will let you know how it combines with the PBB. And if I get the old Hawaiian to germinate.

The HA was brought back from Hawaii. Obtained from Hawaiian locals. I grew it maybe 23 years ago. Things were very illegal then so I didn't take pics. All I remember is it grew like CRAZY and overwhelmed my tent. The high was very up, refreshing and made me feel really good and happy. I am really hoping I can get my remaining seeds to germinate. I have kept them in the fridge vacuum sealed. If you have any trade secrets to give them the best chance to sprout I would love to know. 😁

Purple Satellite Question: I don't have any experience with sativas in general and especially the early ones. I would love to give this one a try outdoors this year. I want to start from seeds and was wondering if they will show preflowers to separate the males early (aprox 6 weeks)?

Hey hamstring!
If you start with good strong lights indoors you certainly should be able to sex Purple Satellite at six weeks of age. I run under 24 hours of HID Metal halide in Spring.
Good warm conditions and bright light usually generates good strong compact growth ready to brave the outside world.
Hope that helps!

I have tried a couple things on old seed
1} pop seeds in an active healthy established worm bin after a twelve hour soak -- has worked for me
2} GA Gibrillic acid soak 24 hours rinse the paper towels. I forget how much in water but should be online{seeds germinated this way stretch from hormones} --- but has worked for me
3} soak in fulvic acid, coconut water and aloe juice not sure on the ratios.
Hope that helps!

You are most welcome! I start in early Spring when it is still cold I run 1k W Halide on a track and put trays on concrete floor with insulation board under them in a three feet wide X about six ft long track, maybe three feet above the plants This keeps the room warm and good bright light with high blue spectrum. I really like Agrisun gold Metal Halide bulbs best when the weather warms I use Galayhydro LED grow lights.
A lot of growers say there is no benefit to 24 hours light but I disagree it helps with the heating the room keeping plants warm and the plants have no stretch! Oh and sex more quickly!

Just found this great old seed germination write up!

I popped more Mulanje seeds 10 days ago. Some germinated slower than others but it's over an 85% strike rate up to today. I soak in aloe, coconut, and fulvic acid for 24 hours then dump that water onto a paper towel, place seeds, squeeze out, and put in a bag @ 78 degrees F. I've had these seeds for 5+ years, and when I bought them, the owner told me they were old stock. I am happy with 85% + germination. If you email him your interest in those seeds and mention they are old stock, he might give you more. I bought a lot and he doubled my order for free.

Thank you for the info! I am going to go full court press, GA followed by this technique. My uncle gave me seeds from the 70's he said is Thai, Columbian gold and skunk.and some from the buds his best friend used to hike over the mexico boarder in back packs. I don't think they will germinate but I am going to try my best! Thanks again for info and for inspiring me try these old genetics!
