I didn't read through this whole thread..but there was some great stuff on here. Let me add mine..some have been mentioned before.
(I'm also only listing CDs that I have actually purchased)
Wu Tang: 36 Chambers
Slick Rick: Art of Storytelling
Rakim: The Master
Big L: Lifestylez of the poor & dangerous
Method Man: Tical 2000 Judgement Day
Big Pun: Capital Punishment
Dr. Dre: Chronic 2001(Personally, I feel the original Chronic was more groundbreaking than great..it's still pretty fucking good, though.)
Eminem: Slim Shady LP(all of his are good, and I especially like Eminem Show, but this one caught everyone off guard.)
D12: Devil's Night(I don't care what you say...it's great..R.I.P. Proof)
Scarface: Greatest Hits(I'd really hate to list a greatest hits album..but it fucking rocks hardcore).
D.O.C.: Deuce.

I think those are my favorites

Edit:

Chali 2na: Fish Market(probably one of the best rappers ever...just not much reputation)
Outkast: Aquemini(this was a fan-fuckin-tastic album that my brother actually got me)
ODB: Nigga Please / Trials & Tribulations of Russel Jones (2 of the most entertaining albums ever purchased)
Beastie Boys: Liscense to Ill

If you just want some thugged out hardcore rap, Big L is the shit. If you want some shit with a message, you cant beat Immortal Technique. If you want some thuggish shit that also has a message to it, Tupac Shakur and NAS are great.
