Great Inline Fans

I have a 4x8x6.5 room, ill be running 2 600HPS. Im thinking of using 2 S&P TD150 fans. One for just the A/C hoods, and the other for just the filter (CAN 50). Does this seem logical, or should i get the TD200 model and run it all with 1 fan?

Recommended- Panasonic FV08VQ3 Whisper Ceiling Fan

If you're recommending that for Aggression, I should say that the Panasonic FV08VQ3 won't pull a trickle of air through a Can 50 and it won't cool a single 600w HPS for jack, much less two bulbs AND a filter.

Hi fellas.I started a topic about which s&p fan should I buy it?.I stuck at between two model

td 200 and td 150.Im gonna use it for cooling 400watt w/ cooltube in homebox small.td200

is metal td 150 is plastic,I think using it at half speed with dimmer(or I remember some

wiring makes it work at half speed but I didnt find the message about that)which one

does the job more quiet at half speed ?or td 150 can cool a 400w at half speed well?

i'm using a S&P td 150 to cool a 4oo W mh / hps in a tent 39"x39"x78"...temps are staying on the right range 20 to 25 Celsius. 6" insulated duct, short pieces.
Fan sucks air from a carbon filter.
I don't know how is going to work in summer when it will be hot outiside..i might have to just stop and wait for cooler temps.
It is wired at low speed and it seems to work fine. I have no experience to compare it to other fans in terms of efficiency but i'm happy withit. It is also very quite.
To make it more silent i put it into a box with sound absorbing material inside.
If you want to control the speed don't get the cheap triac speed controller as you could read in other posts...the fan at some point starts to make a weird mechanical noise.
hope this help

imho, a single TD-200 will not be enough to pull through a Can 50 and through two hoods.

Thanks for the quick response qbert.

So i should stick with the 2 fan set up? One for the a/c hoods and the other for the can50? And i agree the Panasonic FV08VQ3 wont do anything at all for me.

Im a noob when it comes to the ventilation/fans i need, if anyone could help me, it would be very appreciated.

Im gonna politely disagree with qbert and say yes, I think a td200 will be enough to cool two 6's and pull through a filter.

The td200 is around 500 cfm iirc. I have the td200x(~400 cfm) pulling through a carbon filter and 1000W hood and the output air is only luke warm. the 200x has plenty of pulling power to cool two 6's, Im HIV positive about that.

...plus if you're doing 600's in 6" reflectors and ducting, youll have even more pulling power with the td200 series being 8" od....I think you'd even be fine using the td200 on Low speed.

I think a td150 on each 6'er would be overkill. :2cents:

Thank you so much!! Just what i was looking for.

Ive been debating the CAN MAX 8" or the TD200(x). Any recommendations?

can fan 8" vs s&p td200x for 2 600's? Id go with the 200x because the canfan is much more powerful if I remember correctly, and the 200x can cool two 1000s maximum imo.

(do they even make the 200x anymore...I cant find it on hvacquick.com?)

I friggin' love my Sunleaves Windtunnell inline. Quiet as hell with just the sound of rushing air. I'm fairly sure the ABS housing has something to do with it.

I just bought a cheap $15 5amp ceiling fan speed controller in the hope of turning it down halfway. hes right, if i turn it down it makes a loud buzzing sound. If i turn it up the buzzing goes away and then theres more of the 'whooshing' sound. Using insulated ducting took the whoosing sound 100% away but my blower is a P.O.S. I've wrapped it in r12 insulation and hung it by bungees and its still too god damn loud. Maybe I'll go wrap it in 5 more batts of insulation.

since this is the S&P fan discussion thread, Ill bump it with some more info.

S&P's rock because they are so low profile, they can be insulated right along with your duct line for even more noise reduction.

this method makes S&P's as near silent as can get:

1. remove insulation from your ducting keeping entire insulation run intact. cut and connect necessary amount of ducting, secure it to fan intake/exhaust.
2. wrap fan body in plastic wrap from your kitchen(keeps fan from sucking in insulation)
3. slide the intact line of insulation over the duct and fan.

1. td100x

2. td100x ready to mount and use

3. TD200x 8" fully insulated and mounted(fan is being held by bungies to roof if not noticable)

Hello all,

Thanks for creating, posting on this thread. A lot of 'noobs' (myself included) need help/advise in the realm of ventilation.

I'm using a DR80, which has just over 5 inch ports for exhaust/intake, making a 6inch Vortex too big for it (especially if you want to use insulated ducting - like I do).

So I went and bought a 4 inch Vortex last week - "oh, what a pleasant surprise. This thing is louder than my 6 inch Vortex" ( when controlled down some), even when IT is controlled down some. They have the same dB rating. Ahhh - no, it's louder in my opinion, probably due to it pushing air through a 2inch smaller opening. *frustration*

I'm thinking about the S&P TD 125, 5 inches - perfect for the port size on the DR80. BTW, this is for a Veg tent which will only have maybe 4 to 8 two foot T5's or T8's, or some sort of CFL setup. At very most it will have 1 250 watt MH.

Would anyone have any advice on the TD 125 as opposed to the Vortex 4inch jetpack?

Funny when I started 'planning', noise wasnt a huge concern for me - didn't realize how loud all this crap is.
Had to return a GH dual diaphragm air pump, which claims - and I quote - "Extremely Quiet" - *ahembullshit* for this noise reason.

Rant period concluded.
Thanks for any tips guys AND gals.

Peace.

PS. how many posts before one can PM other - just outta 'kuraositay'?

ROTFLMAO! Not at you but, with you. I feel your pain.

I will say the S&P simply does not pull like a Vortex. My TD100X struggles with a 250 and scrubber. Keep bends and stuff to a minimum. Looks like cannabean's idea may be your best silencing bet. Still, I'd be thinking of a patsy or masking sound. You can hear my fan across the garage but, beaten up old freezers are supposed to be noisy.

hey freezerboy- i thought of putting in a dummy exhaust vent louver in the ceiling near the grow, so when your fan was on it would seem like its just that fan exhausting hot air from the house or garage or whatever...
