Couple days back I gave the girls their 1st feed . I think maybe next time I will wait until later in the evening. Or I should just feed the soil and avoid giving the girls a shower .
As it appears Bonsai has had a bad reaction to the feed and she seems to have some burns 😥 . She is in recovery and is strong enough to make it .

Yesterday I was tinkering around , a little bit of training with Olympia. Tied the runner beans back and basically tidied them up .
Olympia is doing well and coping with these sessions quite nicely. She is making good progress.

As I thought. She was drier that the Gobi desert. Now she has a few issues to deal with and I don't like her new friend who was! Hanging around her .

I have some urgent damp removal and some thinning out to do for air flow . Gaia has some black leaves and Bonsai has a couple bits of what appears to be softening on a couple of the branches . Probably be best to just remove the to the nearest node .

Check for any damage, slugs could have taken a few nibbles from the stem- especially with the humidity lately
If you have any slug pellets put some out- or do the bare copper wire trick around the stem- they really don’t like crossing copper

I've had a good look at them and removed a fair bit of blackened leaves . I was unsure about putting the bare copper against the plant . So I have been avoiding using copper. Although I do have some of that sticky backed cooper slug repeller . Any how here is the trimmed girls .

This pic is where the weakness was . There were 2 branches which were looking like this. They may of been strong enough, however I've cut them and trimmed in hope I can root them . They are quite small so we will see if they make it or not.
Bonsai has just had those two heads removed and a quick re-tie . Whereas Gaia has had the most leaf removal .

I've had something similar during very wet humid years with little airflow, just figured it was stem rot, did the same, just cut the sections off. It's a pain dealing with that, seems like everything tries to kill our beloved plants... hope that's all you'll have to deal with!

Yeah let's hope . Those slugs can't even leave the scene of the crime without leaving any evidence. Maybe their parents should teach them how to clean up after themselves. Leaving all that slime on my girls leaves. I mean come on ... Use a Kleenex or something 😁

found this on Gaia today . Anyone know what this is and could it be a possible cause for this

IMG_20230621_141054.jpg

If so maybe either where the tap for the sap or the eggs that she lay? Either way I  maybe bug spray ... I also tried to catch a pic . It was a small black fly and an ant .I shall leave the ant as I am sure that the ant will enjoy the blackfly eggs.

Destroy ant 🐜!!!
They farm blackfly and greenfly… the ant puts a fly on a leaf, then because the blackfly reproduce without a male they quickly fill the leaf with babies (which can make babies themselves after 3 days) As the flies feed on your plant, they produce a sticky liquid which the ants collect and eat.
Ant powder is very handy.

I'm on it like a car bonnet. Thanks for the heads up ... Search and destroy :tiphat:

Today I spent a lot of time mostly in the front garden, making it dog safer . I have about an hour and half or so converting the gravel containment area into a bed for bonsai and need to fill it and get her in it before she can cope no more. . . She is all root ball . No soil so I've decided too late in the process or not . She is being re-bedded .
That's tomorrow's job now now as more soil will be needed.
Also I will get Gaia in somewhere deeper too .
So pic #1 is before shovelling the gravel and holding back the slab that is forming the front wall .
Pic#2 is the new area with some soil in .

IMG_20230622_192314.jpg

Where Bonsai is sitting, is where I am putting her . The bed I'm making is or moreso will be somewhere around (52.5*52.5*52.5) cm cubed . 144703.125
Which is roughly 144 ltrs of soil . This is where I have left it for tonight.

IMG_20230622_214114.jpg

I gave her some needed water sat her in her bucket in situ temp .
IMG_20230622_214947.jpg

Goodnight my girls. We'll continue from where left off , tomorrow Bonsai.
