I have yet to find a strain that doesn't do better with intense defoliation - no matter if its early veg, late veg, or early flower. To be on the safe side though, I do it in 2-3 stages throughout veg and the first two weeks of flower, just to be sure no shock occurs.

Here's a theory from my stoned ass: it's better to do it early, i.e. in veg, because the plant wouldn't have spent the energy on those nodes vs if you were to wait for flowers to start to chop. I just get nervous cutting off all those nodes in veg because some of them randomly end up being a fat ass nug even tho it's in larf zone

The way yall trim, removing fans, reduces the amount of energy the plant takes in. All energy comes from light...fans are most efficient at capturing that energu and converting it to c6h12o6

i don't remove upper fans unless they block light to lower bud sites , but yeah every thing under the net & outa reach of the lights gets taken off in usually 3 to 4 sessions , not all at once . thats to much stress at once !

Just one last thing and I will quit. What fucks up people more...occassional serious high stress, running from a saber tooth...or low level constant bullshit, like working for corporate america?

Removing fan leaves that block light can help increase yields.

Of course you don't want to take off too many or you will shock and stress the plant. Removing a few here and there won't hurt at all though.

Some strains do respond better than others, and I believe GG4 to be a strain that can respond well.

Thats how I do it as well. Ill do one or two light trims in veg and then again once or twice up till the 3 week mark. Then I just let them roll and only remove fans if they are blocking budsites.

If I'm really gentle with a fresh razor I can get the node without getting the fan petiole under it. Mine don't look as bare as some people's leg shave job, I was way to scared to shave her clean up to the thighs lol

plenty of other studies to read out there just use google. Photosynthesis appears to generally decrease in older leaf. Day 21 after the stretch might be the perfect time o clear out all that old un productive leaf...

Tony,

An annual plant like cannabis takes out nutrients from old leaves to make flowers & sometimes seeds, so imo it's better to let them stay.. At the end of it's life, when the seeds are ripe there is no need for a plant to still be very vital, because it's going to die anyway.

Kind regards,

Siever

sorry for asking, I know this isnt good form, but I've looked and looked and I cant find it... does anyone know where I can find the photo of a couple of guys selling some GG4 clones at a fair of some kind? - they have a hand drawn sign that states GG4 cuts = $1000 (real sickly looking clones too)..

looked everywhere...cannot find it ...anyone?
