Gorilla Glue #4 - Part II

With respect to how much to take off, I defer to those growers here who have already shown their mastery.

Even if the stretch is fading, I would throw on that second layer since you're already prepared for it (good job of thinking ahead on that one btw). I've found that as the tops get bigger, the flimsiness leads to serious flopping over.

Thanks! The net is 12 inches from the top of pots. 4 plants, cloned 2 weeks, solo cups 3 weeks, vegged/scrogged for 8 weeks. The canopy is about 2 feet deep above the net right now, almost 3 feet in a couple spots.

Good eye, the holes in the corners are indeed for another layer of netting. I think I probably should have gotten the second layer on sooner but I decided to wait until after stretch and a good defoliation. It would be a bitch to get in between the nets to defol so that's why I decided to wait. The plan is to give them a good trim tomorrow then throw on the second layer and pretty much just wait until the finish. That's why I was asking how much I should trim, I want to get it right the first time so I didn't have to go in there and take more later.

whoa !!! way to much veg time for glue !! a month is more than enough ! & next time raise your nets a foot above the top of the plants that you put into flower . that gives them a week of the 3 week stretch to grow up & through the nets . this way you can bend & tuck the longer branches under the net to another hole . & it gives you time to spread the branches out in the net .

i put my plants in after a months veg at 24" & my nets are set to 36" .

I had these girls tied down in major bondage training them to the net until it was pretty much full before I flipped. I'm adding another level of netting after I do some trimming but I will have to gently work it down to where I want it. Right now my plants are between 2-3 feet above my first net. I am going to have to work my second net down to around the 2' mark to support everything. This is where I messed up on this grow. I should have put it on 2 weeks ago.

I don't intend to scrog anymore though. I just did it because I only had 4 plants to work with and wanted to pack the net as much as possible before the flip. I'm still building out my room trying to finish up my veg system so I can do like you say and go with 30 day veg times then flip. I want to eventually bring 2 more lights online in my flower room and get on a 3 week rotation schedule. The veg system Im working on now is the means to that end.

When it comes to defoliation and your style of growing do you trim off the bud below your net and only keep what's above or do you keep some under the net too? Or is it more as long as the bud gets direct light keep it?

As always thank you for your input, it is mucho appreciated.

Thanks for tips. Based on what you're saying it doesn't sound like I'm going to change a whole lot about my trim program. I basically did exactly what you guys say on my first run. Lighting should not be an issue for me, I have a 1k DE over a 4'6" square canopy. Right now it's turned down to 825w but it's also only 3' above the plants. I didn't expect this run to turn out as good has it has so far and I let the training get away from me causing me to run out of room.

My first run I ran as high as 1.8 EC from veg through much of flower. The tips burned a little but not terrible. I read Dan's recommendation of 1.2 EC over in Aspen's thread and that is what I ran from clones up to now on this run and the plants are looking amazing so thanks for that tip too.

I knew I screwed up my first run with the high EC but I thought maybe I left too many bud sites and that might have caused the airyness too. I guess I will try and just let it role with the good nute program I'm on now. I don't want to change too many variables at once. Here is a canopy pic from around day 14-15.

i strip off all the fan leaves below & any of the branches that didn't go through the net . but i leave bud sites well below the net . i trim up to the point that the light penetrates .

but i doubt you'll have any light penetration below that net !!! so strip off everything below it . once you get the second net on , then start stripping fan leaves off between the nets so light can get in .

here ya go Paco .....http://blackholeshydro.com/?page_id=36

i use the 1/4" ones , but it actually takes a 3/8ths " hose instead of a 1/4" because the 1/4" is an inside diameter not an outside diameter .

Oh man thanks for dropping this on me. It is exactly what I was hoping to find. Everything below the first net has already been trimmed off. Your pictures have helped a bunch. Before I seen them I was going to trim off all the upper fans and leave a few of the lower ones but I see that you did pretty much the opposite and those buds are CHUNKY AS FUCK! Thanks for the info and the inspiration!

My girls barely stretched at all. Perhaps a few inches and that was it. I believe it to be the result of the LED?
