63 to 70 is perfect for GG4 ... no real need to go any longer unless your goal is to get stuck on the couch for a few hours lol

Damn I take a 2 week vacation from lurking in this thread and bam just like that almost 40 more pages. Time must really fly or you guys just talk to much. lol

So today is day 20 of flower on my second run and tomorrow I am going to give the girls a well needed shave but I need some advice from the pros. My last run was a little fluffy, not the dense gorilla dicks some of you grow. So I'm thinking I left too much lower bud on instead of cutting it off and letting the plants focus on the tops more. Before I get to cleaning these girls up I was hoping you guys could shed some light on how much to keep in order to end up with dense buds.

Here is a pic at day 14. What should stay what should go?

what you trim depends on your light intensity and how crowded your canopy is but as a rule I trim anything that's not getting good light, those big buds you seek come more from a dialed nute program and good lighting more than anything else,

check our nameless pic above, he has it nailed

Thanks for tips. Based on what you're saying it doesn't sound like I'm going to change a whole lot about my trim program. I basically did exactly what you guys say on my first run. Lighting should not be an issue for me, I have a 1k DE over a 4'6" square canopy. Right now it's turned down to 825w but it's also only 3' above the plants. I didn't expect this run to turn out as good has it has so far and I let the training get away from me causing me to run out of room.

My first run I ran as high as 1.8 EC from veg through much of flower. The tips burned a little but not terrible. I read Dan's recommendation of 1.2 EC over in Aspen's thread and that is what I ran from clones up to now on this run and the plants are looking amazing so thanks for that tip too.

I knew I screwed up my first run with the high EC but I thought maybe I left too many bud sites and that might have caused the airyness too. I guess I will try and just let it role with the good nute program I'm on now. I don't want to change too many variables at once. Here is a canopy pic from around day 14-15.

That's a nice full net Del. What height is the net at? It looks like you left openings on the corners of the frame to put in a second tier.

Press on, you're looking good!

Thanks! The net is 12 inches from the top of pots. 4 plants, cloned 2 weeks, solo cups 3 weeks, vegged/scrogged for 8 weeks. The canopy is about 2 feet deep above the net right now, almost 3 feet in a couple spots.

Good eye, the holes in the corners are indeed for another layer of netting. I think I probably should have gotten the second layer on sooner but I decided to wait until after stretch and a good defoliation. It would be a bitch to get in between the nets to defol so that's why I decided to wait. The plan is to give them a good trim tomorrow then throw on the second layer and pretty much just wait until the finish. That's why I was asking how much I should trim, I want to get it right the first time so I didn't have to go in there and take more later.
