Yea back in the 00’s I usta do everything with tap water. In Philly it came out between 180-300 and in Cali it came in round 80 or so. The Philly water came in usually at 240. It worked great. The plants
Loved it but it smelled like it came from a fishtank. But now they use that chloramine. I think that’s what’s really fukkin me up here. Sometimes ya can just smell it. I’m gettin a filter tomorrow ta take care of most of that tomorrow.
Seems I got the wrong pheno on this Fat Bastard. I poped a sister bean a month ago that damped off but
Is still hangin in there. I’m hoping it won’t snap over before I can clone it. She’s at 685 ppm’s now so not really at full strength. But she’s lookin like she’s gonna fall over cause her stems pinched at the base. I don’t think she’ll grow outta it so soons I get a chance later I’m gonna see how close to snapping she is. If I have to Il clone her soons I get my filter. Hopefully tomorrow or day after
I'm guessing that you are in Philly w tap @ 240PPMs.. "She's at 685PPMs now" 685-240= 445PPMs of your nutrient solution: Yes? 685, that's for your cuts in the cloner? seems like a lot.
But if it works for you go with it and learn.
The problem I couldn't get 'educated' about was, what makes up the individual PPM elements that makes up that 240PPM tap water. Is it mostly calcium or, how much of whatever else? Cutting the tap water down with the RO seemed... In my itty-bitty brain... not knowing the mineral make up of the tap water, to eliminate that conundrum but I didn't continue with mixing RO w Tap. I'm to old to deviate from a process that has been successful for me for almost 20 years where straight RO is the way to go. In those 'mixing' years, there were 4 plants in bloom.. the cost of and the effort to obtain the RO led me to trying the mixing process.. yes it worked kinda but yield was down considerably.. why?? who knows.

Thanks for looking in on me 4maggio.
That 685 is the actual ppm’s of the Foxfarm 326
I use. It was actually 935 before taking the tap out. And I clone into just plain water. But like I said it’s usually around 250 or so. I been doin the distilled now too a bit. It’s a little expensive if ya wanna use a couple 5’s for moms and 4x5 gallons for cuts. That’s why I’m bout to try this filter. If it could get my ppm’s under 80 and take the chloramine out, I think Il be able to work with it. Sposed to be commin today.
So now I got the seedling up to bout730 ppm’s now. I think she’s ready to cut bet she don’t have enough lats. If I cut her now, there wouldn’t be much left of her. But if I try to let her veg some more, she just might snap and fall over. I hope the filter comes soon cause I gotta go to work soon. I don’t want it snapping while I’m at work.
Have you ever cloned anything so young? This girls only bout 6 weeks from seed?

This new mom looks really good now. She’s all symmetrical and healthy. Her embolism has gotten allot better and I don’t think she’s in too much danger of fallin over. I fimed her on the 4th and she’s lookin real good with it. Now I just gotta wait till I can get 8 cuts off her.
I was really disappointed with what I got off the last mom. Even with the condition they were in when I flowered them out, they shoulda done better. Plus the new mom is so much nicer than the old one. The old one was asemetrical from seed. It’s had even fingers almost as much as odd. And she started the alternating nodes thing after only about 7 nodes. I asked a friend that was a bit familiar with the FB and he said it wasn’t nothin to worry bout but I just didn’t like it. And now I see such a big difference in the new mom. She was at 10 nodes and still growing lats symmetricaly when I fimmed her on the 4th and she’s likin it. Hopefully Il be able to get 8 nice cuts from her soon.

And I have 8 cuts from the old mom just because. I really don’t want to put them in flower due to their poor performance. But I didn’t know if the new mom was gonna succumb to its embolism so I took cuts. So far 1 week without roots. I dumped some Olivia’s stuff in one bucket to see if I noticed a difference using it. I hope the new mom does well now because I want to put her cuts into flower, not the ones that did poorly for me. But anyhow, I just wanted to write down when I dumped Olivia’s root stuff into bucket 1.

K so something goin rite. I got 7 outta 8 cuts rooted in 12 days. The other one will probably pop some root through the net pot by tomorrow. That’s much more like it. I’m thinking the new filter got lots of the chloramine out. I don’t know what elce it coulda been. I didn’t change anything elce up so it seems it was the filter. Oh yea, and I got my Dip n Grow. I couldn’t find it till now and I really like it. It was my favorite rooting hormone. And it really smells potent. So I guess between filtering my water with the new filter and using my Dip n Grow, I can get roots in a reasonable amount of time. 12!days ain’t too bad I guess.
So now I’m just waiting on my new mom to give me some cuts. I don’t want to put any of these in. They weren’t the pheno for sure. And I’m hoping the new mom is the keeper.
Here’s the old mom on the left, with the new mom in the corner, and the rooted cuts in a row next to them.
