Damn Waxi you're a pro. Ive never even considered growing that tall in solo cups (much less blue ones). Ha ha... What are those 24"? When are you going to transplant and into what size? Are you indoor or out? Sorry to hijack thread...

it's not a simple formula. it depends on your overall projected growth cycle. more light is not the answer in fact if u have the time u will prefer less light be it intensity or duration in the beginning coupled with other low pressure stimulation on the above ground portions high humidity would be an example. it depends on the situation.. there is an answer but need more input

eg with some weak-ass light you are wasting time to turn it off... with more intense light you are wasting energy to turn it on beyond a certain point..

particularly with hid's,, people start with too much light and they don't know it... i will do much better with 3 weeks of 16 hrs than anybody here will do with 18-24 hours..

the plant strethes overnight,, gets top heavy, needs to accommodate the fact with a larger stalk quicker and etc,, while the clown next door is growing midgets under the 24 hour regimen.. seen it a million times.. you coax a young plant,, u don't push it.. when you know how big light can penetrate is when u carefully time cranking up the juice.. this is how it is done properly.

ie if you are growing for a 7+ month season with the sun moving over the plant each day,,, stretched growth is exactly what you want to start with.. if you have a 3 foot closet,, grow midgets. both of these scenarios have their places,, and how to go about them should be at reach.
