So what is the recommended BTU for 1000w? I was just going to get the biggest ac i could get and fil the room with 3 1000w and 6 315w CMH..... how much do i need for that? thats all the lighting i would need for the whole room.......... for right now i would settle with cooling two Gavitas and two #15 cmh lights...... where is Rives when ya need him......
5K BTU per 1000 , but if ya ask me , thats overkill . Like i said , I was cooling 3600 with a 12K BTU window banger in an attic space during the summer . i had mega fans going to move the air around , but it never got over 80 in flower or veg . turn it off & i seen it hit 128
12K is about the biggest you can go & still plug it into a reg outlet . anything higher & you'll need 220 volts .
& personally , i think portable AC is a waste of money !!! that 14K is about equivilant to an 8K on a GOOD day .plus unless you wrap the ducts in insulation it creates a ton of heat from the hoses !!! BTDT !

Listen to the man that helped you get where you are. Portables are shit. Save your money and do it right, just like your Gavita!
I still think you should go for the mini split, that seems to have the capacity and life down here to suit your needs.

Something wrong on your end. I see page 100.
weird, now I'm seeing this is page 51
so, I quick logged out. when I logged out it was page 101. log back in, page 51. I think I must be traveling through a worm hole in the universe during the log in process or something.
Aspen- sorry to go off topic, but it's strange to me

I can also add with some experience with portable AC's. WASTE OF MONEY. Room I used to run, guy had a 10,000 BTU portable. I swear the thing added more heat to the room than it took away. Even with insulation from ductwork on the hot air exhaust. Bout' the only thing it was good for was being a dehuey when the lights were off, lol.
