Mire like 500 and they suck , the, dual hose models are ok but all it takes is a hose falling off the destroy a crop. Window bangers are not ideal but a much better choice.

I had that happen sort of. Room got to almost 100 and the hose pointed at the top of a plant. It was week 7 of flower and slowly died back from the top down. Lost at least 6 ounces from that.

i would disagree...

alot of growers on here will back me up, portable A/C's suck! Window Bangers are a better value for your money in a growing situation. I'm not an HVAC pro so i wouldn't be able to explain exactly WHY window bangers do a better job, but i have noticed they outperform portable units of the same BTU rating.

If anyone with HVAC knowledge knows why window bangers work better, i'd love to hear it!

you can mod out a portable to work in a grow room just like a window unit...I am currently using a portable with the unit on a stand, outside my box, and a custom boot that covers the supply louvres, and is ducted into my box... the heat is then ducted into a blocked off section of floor joists... I use a plug and play thermostat with a remote sensor to control the unit and a 5 gal bucket to capture condensate...

The main reason no one likes portables is because they think the unit has to be in the room with the plants in which it draws air from its surroundings to remove the heat.... which would in turn bypass the carbon filter and create an odor condition... I prevent this by keeping the portable unit outside the room so it is drawing filtered air to remove the heat...

the other reason the portable isn't a first choice it is generating heat in the same area it is trying to cool off which in a normal application that would be correct.. but since I am ducting the conditioned air into the box,and the thermostat control is in there as well... that becomes a moot point....

I would probably go with a window shaker if I had to choose, only because there are great threads on how to mod it out to work for you...I kind of have a clue when it comes to HVAC, and this is what I had at hand so I made it work for me, and it has been working great

I have a portable outside the room and yeah it works pretty good, surprises me how much it can cool actually. Then again I'm not trying to cool 1000 watters or anything, 1080 watts for the flower and veg tents lol.

I think a lot of it probably has to do with the heat exchange happening in the unit within the room and the hot air heating the exhaust duct.
It is essentially fighting to cool its own heat and the room it's in..

Was kinda my situation with my diy portable window banger. Required many inches of insulation around the back end of the unit as well as 2 layers of duct insulation sleeves. And still it was a battle.

one of the other east coast guys. I don't remember which.. uses a portable in a different room and pumps cool air into the room. That would probably be more effective for a portable. But I doubt it to be super efficient

I missed the change on plans. I thought you were gonna do a second run of gg4.

Question on your airpot mod: the hosiery you use, is it open on both the top and bottom or do you keep the bottom closed? Hope that make sense

they're kinda slow , so you'll need a good long veg for big plants . unless you just want to pack the first net & not worry about a second one .

Yeah the darlins net is slow in veg and the final product is kind of like the glue but not quite as good. It yields nice though.

depends on which pheno you have !!! yours look DMT dominant with the fatter buds . my #3 was like that & let go because it wasn't powerful enough . she has my #6 pheno which doesn't produce buds as big , but are super potent !

I got it as the Dansbuds pheno, whatever that means idk. It is some pretty nice weed. Really good bag appeal and Buzz. I just like the glue better. It took maybe two weeks longer in veg than glue and had about half the stretch. It was hard to fill the screens up and the branches started snapping off the main stem at the end. The buds were rock solid. I put one outside, I think it might really do good since its so indica.

i bet you got the #3 , its the one paladin wanted & has passed around Mich . theres even someone there selling cuts of it for like 250$ each .... which is laughable , but typical . nobody wanted the #6 cuz the buds were smaller even though it was more powerfull . but yeah the glue is much better than that pheno of DN . i think the #6 is very comparable in potency , but grows more indica dom .

Paladin even used one of the pics for advertising it & sent me a copy ......
