I have a carbon filter with an rvk 100, small grow.. just a drobe and chest of drawers for flowering, 3rd flower cab coming soon so I'll need more rvk's and scrubbers but they arn't 100% effective.. especially a few grows down the road!

Basically we have neds as neighbours and we cant afford any smell leakage, so on top of the scrubber we use these, they cost less than £1 each and are very smelly if hung on a fan!

Theres a really thick blue gel/paste in there and it smells quite nice actually, I average 1 a fortnight, it keeps my wife happy so i'm happy too :joint:

Homemedics Envirascape mini oasis

Just got back from Wally World after reading about the water fountain. I found the Homemedics Envirascape mini oasis for $16 and a $2 bottle of Pine Sol. Just set it up and all I can smell is Pine Sol. OUTSTANDING!!!!

PHENOLS! PHENOLS!! PHENOLS!!!!!

DON"T POISON YOURSELVES AND YOUR PETS MY DEAR FRIENDS!

SWITCH TO LAVENDER OIL IN WATER.

1.SMELLS BEAUTIFUL, SEXY EVEN.
2.MORE STEALTH IT ISN'T PINE SOL SO YOU'RE NOT IDENTIFIED AS A MEMBER OF THE PINE SOL BREATHERS.
3.HARMLESS TO BREATHE

LIVE WELL

This is a great link and there can be much debate about cloaking a smell and removing it from the air. Cost wise they are about equal.

JUST one thing: PINE SOL and LYSOL contain PHENOLS which are quite dangerous.
This is an excerpt from an article that even the EPA agrees with.

"According to the National Institutes of Health, phenol is toxic and people who are hypersensitive to it could experience death or serious side effects at very low exposures. Plus, it is rapidly absorbed and can cause toxicity throughout the entire body. Typically, death and severe toxicity result from phenol's effects on the central nervous system, heart, blood vessels, lungs and kidneys.

Many common household disinfectants contain phenols-caustic and dangerous compounds that could be harming your family's health.

Other symptoms of exposure include:

* Shock
* Delirium
* Coma
* Pulmonary distress
* Phenolic breath
* Scanty/dark urine
* Severe burns and numbness if exposed to the skin
* Death

Further studies have shown that these compounds can cause:

* Damage to respiratory and circulatory systems
* Cardiac damage
* Major damage to the liver, kidneys and eyes after chronic exposure
* Respiratory problems and pneumonia in rats, mice, and guinea pigs
* Nonyl phenol ethoxylate, a common ingredient in laundry detergents and all-purpose cleaners, is banned in Europe, and biodegrades slowly into even more toxic compounds
Some commonly used household products that contain phenols include:

* Household detergents
o Lysol
o Pine-Sol
o Spic-n-Span

ALSO CONSIDER THIS :chin:

I see alot of pet pictures posted. Stoners are generally animal friendly.
Well PHENOLS are particularly bad for DOGS and CATS!!!
"Phenol and Phenol Derivatives, such as Pine-Sol and Lysol

*

Phenol and derivatives such as creosote, naphthol, wood tar and others
*

Especially toxic to cats
*

SYMPTOMS: Muscle twitches, depression, coma, respiratory distress, jaundice. Contact Vet immediately."

ALL IN ALL DON'T RISK YOUR HEALTH OR THAT OF YOUR FRIENDS,FAMILY, AND PETS .

I personally use charcoal loose in a big rubbermaid tub with lid. My exhaust blows in below the charcoal and rises up through it out into the room through a port in the lid. Works great. cost: Less than $20. Brickets work fine, I break them in half.

PEACE OUT

O MANI PADME OM

Doesn't sound too healthy to me :fsu:

PLEASE for your own sake dont use pinesol for your odor control

the price you will pay later will be grave....

in basic terms pinesol is OK to use to clean but when you breathing it in 24/7 you have a problem..

Especially if you have a kid in the house DONT USE PINESOL ODOR CONTROL.

i say for an outdoor shed or something you have NO CHANCE of inhaling for more than 5 minutes a day.. then it might be ok..

but in the end if a cop walks in and smells pinesol hes going to wonder. No house should Reek of Chemicals..(he might say its PB for meth if its to strong)

the best odor control is Carbon Or Ozium Or even Ozone if you let it disipate..
NO ODOR IS THE BEST ODOR>>

Frying your Lungs For what to save a few bucks.. you already saving by growing....

Great concept Nevermind, but I think these guys are right about being weary of a strong solvent like pine-sol. Lavender oil in a little waterfall sounds like the ticket, nice 1 Dick :joint:

aerosolization

Dispersion in air of a liquid material or a solution in the form of a fine mist, usually for therapeutic purposes, especially to the respiratory passages.

when you run this pine-sol fountain your sending tons and tons of small particles of it into the air for you to breathe in everyday. i would be seriously concerned for your health and all around you...as your basically running a toxic fume dispenser.

also, this cant be good for the plants to have to deal with air saturated with cleaning chemicals.

just my .02

This idea about the charcoal makes sense. I think the molecules of the charcoal actually attract airborne particles kind of like an ionized air filter does. Sounds like its worth a shot. Yes, Pine-sol contains phenols! Its worse then breathing gas fumes! It will kill the air sacs in your lungs! It will destroy your mucus membranes, capillaries, and kidneys. It is almost as toxic as lacquer thinner. That's why it kills germs! Its Toxic!

hey i was thinking of using this pinesol water fountain, but here is my concern.

this is my first time growing in my new apartment and the wall of my grow room (bedroom closet) is the shared wall of my next door neighbor. i was going to place the waterfall outside of the closet, but i heard from someone that the smell from the grow room can somehow get through the walls so my neighbor could smell it and i dont want the waterfall in the grow room. has anyone heard of this happening to them? i am growing growing some diesels and going to flower soon and i dont want my neighbor to be able to smell those stinky buds. thanks

I made one with an air stone, about 3 qts of water, and testing different scents. The bubbler is outside the grow cabinet. My DIY carbon scrubber just wasn't cutting it for this strain... And I didn't want to pay up for ona.
Have not tried pine-sol yet....
Fabreeze, great scent... i went with lilac. works well, but foams like soap. bummer.... used about 1oz of fabreeze ever few days.
Tested using a mandarin scent oil with the fabreeze. couple drops got rid of the bubbles, and added a nice citrus scent. I'm rolling with this right now, and am at about day 40 with purple kush x lady g. Working well so far :) The room smells great.
