There are benefits and drawbacks to every type of growing method I think. Finding a method that works for your location and lifestyle is most important. My location is not too far from a path. So I can ride my bike kind of close to my grow location. I move water in my backpack.

Update SOG auto and 1 liter containers with the regular plants.

Decided to move the regular plants into buckets anyway as the auto seeds came up in the second bed. They are just a bit behind. Its better having a staggered harvest. Not all at once.

36 regular photoperiod plants in 1 liter containers. I will sex them then into buckets.

Far away picture. Couple of buckets in the picture. I have more buckets to move and fill up with dirt.

And this is why I can not use the ground soil, its not soil, its clay. Thick, grass roots filled, water holding clay.

That auto sog is badass!

That must of been a lot of soil to haul on your bike :)

Hope the season shapes up for you.

Doesn't it make you nervous being close to a path?

Thanks for the nice words man!

The tarp works much better if you live in a dry climate.

Or if you feel like poking about 3000 small holes in the bottom so water can drain.

Better option is to use weed block fabric.

The tarps reflects light so that is not good for people on the ground or airplanes in the sky.

I moved the dirt in my backpack and some by the car in the early season. Its alot of work to be honest. This fall when they have the dirt sale at the store I will buy another 20 to 40 bags. That will bring my total to 60 bags of soil in this field. Or rather 3,200 liters of soil. 845 gallons.

Next year its no autos. Only growing HFH strains, some giant cannabis plants among the pine trees. 845 gallons of soil should grow me more than a few also.

Next years its a raised bed of soil but with the weed block fabric, slug pellets and copper plant collars. Going to lime the soil about 4 to 6 weeks before I plant, drop down pellet fertilizer and let them grow.

I am not that close to the path but its in the area. The spot where I grow is perfect. Property is owned by a farmer but its not used by him. Its a flood area that is completely clay with pine trees and tall prairie grass and weeds. So already the field is full of all kinds of wild weeds and they are 4 times as high as my plants. You cant see or smell anything. You would have to accidentally walk to my spot to know its there. Or have a airplane/helicopter. The spot is perfect to be honest. The only hard part is moving in dirt and not being seen or watering the plants during the hot month.

Weather has improved. Watered with BioBizz organic fertilizer. Full lineup. Gave it to all of the plants and it gave them a nice boost. Green and growing strong.

Slugs are done fucking up my plants. So now its just sustaining things until harvest. I expect the first auto plants will be done end of July.

SOG Auto Bed #1. Over 500 plants. Double Fun and PE/AK/DR2. Multi Strain.

SOG Auto Bed #2. 100-200 seeds came up. Another 100-200 seeds planted. DRC PE/AK/DR2

Then I have 36 plants that are non auto. They are doing well in the 1 liter containers. Had a late start with them so they are still rather small. After they show sex I move them into the 10 liter buckets.

That sog auto style is going to be f-ing awesome come July.

Thanks for the nice words bro!

I hope it looks great come july. Colder and wetter conditions this year. I deleted the photo album from last years auto grow. But it was amazing. Warm days and decent night temps and virtually no rain. I had 5 auto beds with 4 bags of soil at each bed. I had to water every spot every couple days with the heat and no rain.

With the tarps and the cooler, wetter summer we are having. I only have to water if I need to fertilize. So its going great for me.

Last year the 4 bag SOG grow. I ended up with about 50 females at each spot and landed over 100 grams at each spot. So it worked out to give or take 500 grams just from the autos last year. But this year. I am thinking closer to 1000 grams from the autos. Another 500 from the reg plants. Fingers crossed!

Growing SOG with autos its a give and take. Alot of plants had almost no bud, some plants had no bud at all. Some plants yielded great. So Being realistic this year. I think 500 grams is a good guess for these 20 bag raised beds on tarps.

Poor germination, slug attacks, cold rainy weather has left this bed not such a sea of green.

Over watering from the rain is causing my plants to wilt from over watering. Not much I can do. Hope they survive.

Hey seedybl

I won't be using BioBizz next year. Found an alternative that is affordable and contains everything I need in one bottle. BioBizz makes you buy too many separate nutrients. Fuck mixing 7 different bottles into one jug for watering. And the cost is very expensive.

Goodbye to BioBizz and Hello to the new stuff

picture.php

21 USD or 175 SEK for a 1.5 liter bottle that will last me the whole summer. I can barely buy one bottle of BioBizz for that much.

What is the benefit to keeping your beds separated from the ground? Why not just pile the dirt on the ground and let the roots go down if they want to? It would be less obvious from the air and also provide better drainage if you get excess rain.

The benefit for me is several.

Separating the ground from the soil is a must. I grow in a wild field that is extreme clay and lots of pine trees.

Using almost eliminates any of the existing plants (rogue weeds) from growing into my soil and stealing nutrients and water from my plants. The invasive weeds grow through potting soil like its not even there.

Insects, Helps reduce ant populations which enjoy farming aphids.

I recycle soil so this helps me maintain the continuity of my potting soil.

Lastly watering, tarps hold much more water, Yes sometimes that can be bad if you get too much rain, but in my experience, soil drying out is a much bigger problem then staying too wet.

I grew auto plots last year, in this field, with the soil sitting right on the ground, and it was a nightmare. Next year I wont use these tarps, I plan to use black, weed block fabric.

And yes maybe my auto beds are noticeable from the sky, but in Sweden they do not look for cannabis from airplanes or helicopters.

Hope this helps.
