ya ive been to grand junction and a few towns in the area, definitely seemed like alot of old conservative types around there, wouldnt mind being closer to the hills tho, ive hear la plata county was pretty chill, not sure how the weather is there tho.
Ya i heard theyve been cool with dispos opening up, what about homegrows? one of the few places in the state where u can grow outside legally i believe but i still have double check that one

Snowy...wind blown...La Plata County. Pueblo ok, just no jobs anywhere. Lived there (surrounds) for 3.5 yrs. before moving to CO/NM border.

The crime rate in Pueblo is higher than the national average.

In 2005, Pueblo reported

13 murders,

22 rapes,

162 robberies,

489 assaults,

1,525 burglaries,

4,978 larceny thefts,

and 478 auto thefts.

In 2011, Pueblo reported 12 murders, 40 rapes, 173 robberies, 606 assaults, 1,590 burglaries, 3,434 larceny thefts, and 470 auto thefts.

Population Est. 2014, 108,423

A number of scientific studies now list Pueblo as the state's primary locale for

solar energy development and the premier setting for solar companies

to locate, placing it ahead of regional rivals such as Boulder, Colorado

needs to be said in this thread: "avoid aurora at all costs" that's basically the entire east side of denver.... just DON"T and whatever they call that bullshit out by the airport; greenwood village or something, just DON'T.

ya thats what ive heard about pueblo, main reason ive debated not to go there. but was wondering maybe an out in the country in that area would it be safer? idk furthest south ive been is fountain, so no idea how the town is set up. but im sure they have some of the longest growing seasons down there, and sounds like a ton of sunshine.

ya i think the whole denver area is a bust really. apparently there were over 200 raids last year in the metro area! idk i havent double checked it but read it in a comment from a reputable person. that seems like alot to me. hearing stuff like that and gilpin keeping people on a list. seems like u have better chance flying under the radar anywhere else but CO haha

Never had a problem living there (Pueblo), felt safe compared to other cities I have lived in including Denver, Albuquerque, Reno. That information is skewed and 2005 statistics!!! This is 2016. 1 murder per MONTH is nothing compared to numerous per day elsewhere. Frightfully, Colorado Springs has more crime per capita that you would expect......

Living in a very rural mountainous area (N. NM), there were homicides- a killing of a county sheriff, disembowelment of a Native American...his cousin on drugs skinning him, wrapping intestines around his head....a lot of meth and robberies, family members shooting at one another drunk, poaching, drunks on the road. Pueblo was peaceful compared to that!! I did live on outskirts of town, but Pueblo was civil. Just no employment.....jobs hard to find.

When looking for a neighborhood, call the local police authorities and find out what zip code has the least crimes.

I really like that country around Salida as it is all red rock canyons and very pretty for me. I don't know how it would be to grow there as the winters might be a bit longer. The wind sometimes gets bad also. I checked with a real estate agent as I was going to move there but it was expensive. I am guessing you could do a decent greenhouse grow there, but check out the water situation as that country is arid.

stop looking "in town", you will never find the right place inside municipal boundaries
like bombay cat said, salida is the shit, chafee county is the shit, only bad part is that salida is crammed betwen 2 prison towns (BV & canon city) so lots of LE families and prison guards live in chaffee county, those people are usually ignorant fucktards that generally lower the quality of life of everyone around them - thankfully chaffee county endures in coolness despite the evil fucks that run the prisons being everywhere in the area.

if u do somethin in salida - prepare for WIND

good to know aribud. i always hear about how bad the crime is but never from anyone that actually lives there. i am definitely moving "out of town" on a lil chunk of land hopefully. been looking on CL lately not much of anything around atm, im sure once it gets closer to spring that will change.

anyone know of any other good home rental websites besides craigslist?

i saw a flyer for a company called housing guru i believe that works to find people grow friendly rentals. they had a few places available mostly in denver, and were charging way too much especially when u can legally only grow 12 plants there. who the hell wants to pay an extra grand a month to grow 12 plants? that makes no sense for anyone trying to rent. in my experience of meeting up with people that have "grow friendly rentals" is that they are trying to scam you. Ive only met up with two ads claiming mmj friendly. both had broken windows, sketchy dudes, wanted payment that day, the list goes on. One group of guys (2 losers, the company agent, and handyman. haha why the fuck would the handyman be there to show me the house.) to show me proof they bought the place, showed me their paperwork with the original cashiers check. lmao once i saw that i was like r u kidding me. is anyone that stupid? this housing guru site seemed like bs also, but not worth even checkn out in my opinion.

Pueblo county is a relatively large county. E. Side of town has water issues. West and South, mountain surrounds. No longer live there, but never had a problem in those years I resided on N. side of town. Easy to navigate, less crime than other areas, albeit, there is crime, like anywhere. No locale escapes it. Living outside of Pueblo is your best bet- city of conveniences. As mentioned, with a master's degree, I could not find a decent job other than sporadic contract work.

Not sure why a Brit that never has experienced Pueblo or likely Colorado is piping up with stats from 11 yrs. ago. Although Wiki is a source, I take it with a grain of salt because it's not always on target as far as correct info.

be careful of any realty places that market grow houses to growers for growing, like housing guru (which is run by the HTC grow store people). these landlords don't do the diligence on location taht you are even doing in this thread, OP. for instance; they may rent you a house in a location that the room is already too large for local restrictions, or simply be entirely unaware of local restrictions.... not cool imo. you don't rent a house for growing in a place you can't grow, and simply ignore that fact just because money is going to change hands monthly.

when i was raided a year and a half ago i was renting from some russians who had certain properties that they would give to growers, the fixer-upers and whatnot.
when police were talking to me they kept trying to get me to imply that i was paying the landlord specifically to grow, they knew his name, and were trying to get him also.
the russians were super good people to me, actually gave me back my deposit AND last months rent AFTER offering to void the lease so i could get out of dodge. but i still wouldn't suggest anyone do biz with them for grow houses.

Thanks for the headsup Arid:

About Pueblo crime rates

With a crime rate of 74 per one thousand residents, Pueblo has one of the highest crime rates in America compared to all communities of all sizes - from the smallest towns to the very largest cities. One's chance of becoming a victim of either violent or property crime here is one in 14. Within Colorado, more than 98% of the communities have a lower crime rate than Pueblo.

For the record I have never experienced Pueblo and never intend too. However my part of London has. nuf said

i figure if ur in the country with no neighbors (at least in plain site), and no one can tell ur growing from the street, why would someone rob a house when they have no idea if anything valuable is inside?

the cops in the area are my main concern, then laws, and relative area and security.

crooked cops maybe more of concern than anything else, in conifer the raided a home and straight up stole cash, guns, and cars. didnt arrest anyone even just robbed em. how fucked is that.

a pal of mine just bought a house on west side of denver, hasn't even hung a lite yet (been a few months since move in) and he had someone climbing in his window at 3am... the only window where bars were movable.

so asking "why" may not be the best answer, instead just assume someone will and plan accordingly, better safe than sorry - always.

Crime is everywhere, amanda. The murder rate in England and Wales has risen sharply for the first time in a decade at a time when police have diverted detectives to investigate historic sex abuse and allegations against tabloid newspapers.
New figures show that the number of murders and manslaughter deaths increased by 14 per cent last year bringing the annual total to 574, or 11 deaths a week. 22 Jan 2016 The Telegraph

Because Pueblo County is one of the most impoverished counties in Colorado, crime goes along with it because jobs are scarce, homelessness has increased due to the "green rush".

There's a flip side to it you'll never experience.....there's many a good thing about the area, but won't waste my time explaining to you.

Las Animas County is ok.....SO CO. If moving into the area, any area of CO, it's best to have a job....then rental managers won't suspect your "hobby". Better to by a small plot out of town wherever you are in Colorado., keep things low key.

Like others have mentioned, might be better to watch the new wave of legalization in another state. There's areas in OR, WA still viable.

denver has limits for people growing within the city as does boulder but back in 2012, my house was broken into while living in denver. happened at like 11am on a sunny may day. so many hood rats looking for easy opportunities. these kids had no idea we were growing and ended up picking plants that were still 3 weeks out. cam home to 100 gallons of coco just spread everywhere.

was a legal grow by definition and we called the cops. investigators dusted for prints and found a positive match. SCORE!

i dont plan on renting from a property company, not willing to risk that. Im not gonna rent a house without permission from a landlord. i lost everything from doing that once before and not having to worry about ur landlord is a must in a legal/med state if u ask me. i have a buddy in a house owned by a rental property, they didnt have to add anything to the place ac, construction, and they dont grow constantly so not really a big deal if something comes up. sure u can get away with it for awhile, but if u really want to grow without any hiccups of that nature, and setup a legit room its best to look for that old timer that doesnt know anything about cannabis or just doesnt give a rip.

I guess I got lucky.
My LL saw a few seedlings 2 seasons ago and said...
"I know what your doing. Keep it on the DL".

You might look at the only county on the west slope that said YES to A64. I don't know of any restrictions. I know you can grow OD as long as nothing is visible from the public Right of way. LEO only shows up when called or, if not called in a while you might catch a Sheriff's Deputy cruise by once a month.

Again... stay out of town... especially the tiny towns where the bias runs deep.

and from what i know, WA and OR are even worse for homegrowers. WA has been destroyed just like CO. OR can only have 3 plant rec, and i thought their med laws have gotten worse but i havent read any state issued reports either. idk i feel like its a huge gamble to move to a new state this year. in a year or two so many states will have different MJ laws. the state i thought about moving back to MI, may change to a regulated recreational market, and get rid of the caregiver model they currently are under. i expect that it will pass. before u know it, will be back in the shadows growing underground. unless u want to grow 6 plants, theres ur freedom and "legal cannabis" for ya
