Ahhhh! The stripers were just starting to show here. Small little schoolies were showing up but now we have had four days of nasty easterly wind/rain and cold. That will delay the larger fish for a few days, at least.
Chomping at the bit... Any day now.

I miss striper fishing,,pogies ,herring, big ass eels for bait mostly .....I miss the bluefish too..those mofos are mean and eat anything put in front of the school...the surf and inshore in so cal aint all that....yeehaw...but doing most in a kayak makes it more challenging...I upgraded one of my kayak rod and reel for bigger stuff...so this year could get interesting......I miss catching tarpon in a yak the most.....the hammerheads made it here the last few years and I heard the cobia are on their way....wreck alley is only a 2 mile paddle for hammers...but I don't eat hammers so cobia would be better

One day last summer we were into some big blue fish so I punched a hole in the bottom of a bud light beer can ,threaded a wire leader and a 2 ounce sinker through it and put a treble on the end. The can was shredded after three fish. They were taking big bites, crushing the can and ripping pieces off. Love it when you are into a good school of blues and they are all chasing your lure fighting to see who gets it first. Bluefish can be oily and they need to be bled out and iced right away after landing but they sure are good hot smoked on some strong wood like hickory.

Nothing beats smoking a nice fat bong rip on the Pacific Ocean after catching a yellowfin tuna.

Thank you sir! we are lucky in Socal our water is like a lake its so calm during the summer. I know you guys have some rough water up there in Canada but make up for it with killer river and lake fishing.

Yes there is, hell I go fishing on lake Michigan every few days it's only a half mile from my house. Same with a couple big rivers.

ocean kicks fresh ass.....just so much more chance of catching a monster...did my time on rivers, streams and lakes and had fun too tho..but not like ocean fun....getting towed around by huge ocean inhabitants in a kayak rules...yeehaw...I have lived real close to the ocean almost all my life except for a few years...its in my blood...the tuna are biting along with the thresher sharks currently..halibut fishing should pick up soon...whales migrating on by for adrenaline rush....ever been right next to a huge whale???? in a kayak???? stoned???? awesome and sort of scary same time....one bitchslap of a tail and your in deep shit lol...I don't try and push my luck like other fools do,,and give most large inhabitants space...ocean way more exciting

I have never had one even seem to know I am there...they just cruise on by .....dolphins and seals and sea lions, and some sharks are a diff story and show interest sometimes...usually cause they want to see if your fishing and they can steal bait or your fish on the line....my yak is blue and stealth ..blend right in on ocean ..not like the bananas some folks got lol...yeehaw

Kayak fishing sounds really fun. I'll probably be getting a kayak pretty soon. There is a very large saltwater river and estuary about 10 minutes from me with tons of kayak trails. Pretty good duck hunting too. :)
