Why are you going for an slr Pack? Taking lots of pics outdoors too?
only asking coz I keep seing ads on tv for normal digis (simple) with 5.5mp for £150 so about $275. 7mp about double that. And your talking half agian plus lenses. ??
JetUsUp...If we were taking pix, with two different cameras set to i.e. 640x480, only then would the MP capacity of the camera not have to do with picture quality..
GMT..SLR is the way to go if you want to diversify your camera for different tasks...macro lens for macro..zoom lens for zoom. The lens is the most important part IMHO. Plants aren't the only thing I shoot..sometimes race cars while they are racing, all kinds of stuff. I've found myself in situations where I had wished I could zoom more far away objects or get that much closer in on small ones.
Cameras:
Film photos are analog...the photo is on the film the same way the film saw it through the lenses...no pixels.
Digital photos must build a mosaic of blocks each with recorded data of the color of that block..those blocks are called pixels, like your monitor or TV screen. If you have ever seen a mural made from different color tiles to make a picture. A magazine does the same thing by mixing different printing dots to create a photo...4 Color Printing: Black, Yellow, Cyan, & Magenta...look at that mag pic with a magnifying glass. More tiles or dots used produce more detail and focus. A High Def TV has more pixels per inch so it looks cleaner.
First, many don't know what Mega Pixel means. Basically it is your resolution (pixel count) L x W. 2048p x 1536p=3,145,728p or about 3.2 MP. More pixels= better resolution(less blocky). I take pics in TIFF mode, That is Tag Image File Format. Tiffs are a lossless uncompressed or compressed data. JPG is compressed data. RAW is raw data that has not be influenced by the camera, and best for editing. Higher end cameras record RAW. When I take a 3.2MP TIFF it is the best my camera can produce. Unfortunately it consumes about 9.2 MB of file space. On this web site you are allowed 100 MB total for you gallery. See the problem. So usually I resize it 800x600 then convert the TIFF to JPG. The 9.2MB pic file is now about 30 to 100 KB. More goes into the algorhythm so predicing size outcome isn't exact. Thats how to get high resolution pics that are actually now low-resolution pics and small file sizes.
When you take a 640x480(0.3MP) pic with a 3.2 MP camera, the camera does the resizing...you get a much better finished pic if you take the pic at 2048x1536(3.2MP), then edit the photo(for cropping pics this is essential). Once it's edited, resize it using the editor. For my own uses I will just print the high resolution(MP) pic without resizing and adjust my 6 color photo printer for it's highest resolution. My printed photos look very film like.
This is from www.dpreview.com : Image Resolution The resolution of a digital image is defined as the number of pixels it contains. A 5 megapixel image is typically 2,560 pixels wide and 1,920 pixels high and has a resolution of 4,915,200 pixels, rounded off to 5 million pixels. It is recommended to shoot at a resolution which corresponds with the camera's effective pixel count. As explained in the pixels topic, shooting at higher (interpolated) resolutions (if available as an option) creates only marginal benefits but takes up more card space. Shooting at lower resolutions only makes sense if you are running out of card space and/or image quality is not important.
Nikon D70s
This pic only possible with my camera though photo edit cropping which high MP makes possible
Nice camera mate,
well no excuses now, regular updates please,
nice explanation there,
I dont have the probs you have to overcome though. With my regular sony p31 I tidy the photo up a little and upload it. I dont get a choice of format its just jpeg from the word go. Size tends to be around 6/700kb so to upload them at 56k isn't funny, but its easy.
GMT...I don't have a new camera yet, still using the old Olympus. But I like that D70s. Probably get the Nikon, I like their lenses and the features of this camera. Maybe with my 4th of July pay I'll get it.
Well the buds are starting to build..just nuted um good with (5ml)PB org Bloom, (8ml)EJ Bloom, (5ml) CalMag+, (4ml)EJ Microblast, (3ml)Floralishous Bloom, (8ml) GHBB Top Max, (20 ml)GH Diamond Nectar in a gallon of water, bubbled for 24hrs 6.8 pH. 1tsp=5ml.
They are lookin good and taking over the flower room...I'll shoot some pics of Alfa next time she's 34.5"(88cm)..This time Betty is featured again..cause she's so sweet.

chuckyoufarley, MGJ, bartender187, sackoweed... ...Thanks for the comments.
These look to be good ones..I predicting good things with this strain. I water cloned a snipping I took from Alfa. The leaves never even lost a bit of color or drooped one bit...Rooted in 6 days...So at least one reprive from Alfa. Full update probably Thurs, maybe tomorrow...
Got my Bubblebags and I have to harvest the old girls..so as time permits...
truecannabliss.. ..Thanks, I really like these plants...It's like I said, they are determind. LST probably would work well...Seem to clone easy as well.
They are taking off now...buds are coming in quick...even a little frost on the roof already. Took some pix at lights out of Betty again. She's easiest to access in the room. Also a few shots of my new edition a nice rooted clone of Alfa. I plopped her in a coffee cup bubbler...used only 1-20w fluro 2 ft away. I got the low light tip from Caprichoso...to keep her in stasis, rather than too much light making her grow and eat up her sugars in the leaves. As a result she didn't grow at all...looks the same as when I put her in there on 25Jun05. She rooted in 6 days..took this pic today. Just used water with the smallest tad of Superthrive for the first 24hrs..straight tap water from there on out. So here's some pics. The Clone

Ok not much time to post..just made some bubble and I'm lettin it settle right now. Well as I mentioned a few weeks ago. The male Chump was put into darkness with no water for 12 days. Then I revived him just to see if I could. Well I did and under 24/0 he's now dropping his load. So I used a cotton swab that I pulled most of the cotton off, then picked up some pollen, then tapped it out onto one of Betty's buds. Had all fans off, but i did see a small puff of pollen head towards the middle of the plant. So we'll see what happens. I needed a little drama in the grow. I only have 7 seeds left, so I thought what the hell.
I planted the clone in soil, looks good, more on that next post. Probably tomorrow...got to get back to the bubble. Bubble will be posted on my other thread Makeshift Mini-garden
Well I've been busy harvesting another plant and makin bubble...but I got a chance to update. So this time I thought I'd feature Alfa...it's been a while. She is a beast 3'4" (1.03m) tall. Budding and trichin...she's a good girl. Now on with the show.
