How much heat with the new lights compared to others?

I can't really comment n. any mix of lamps, as I do not have the data of those lamp/reflector combinations so its impossible for me to calculate. Using different reflectors in one room will decrease uniformity for sure.

The IR output of the 1000 EL is not higher than other 1000W lamps. As more energy is converted to light it is even a fraction less.

I really appreciate both of you helping! @Whazzup, unfortunately at this time, I don't have enough cash for 14 complete 1000's. Only enough money for 9 right now. Is there any advice you could give me on maximizing my light coverage with 9 fixtures in a 12x24x8 room? I also have 4 dual 600W Lumateks that I can drop vertically down the center of the walking path. Thanks again!

Please guys,metric for crying out loud . The is no such thing as micromole per square foot.

No I can't, specifically not with verticals in between, and an uneven amount does not help in your room.

Hang the nine as per my original plan an fill in the rest with the 600W lamps.

Is it ever beneficial to run the lamps parallel instead of in line?

In some cases when you have long rows of tables and paths between them it can be beneficial to run them parallel, but that will hurt the uniformity mostly.

It's always best to make a plan for a complete room. A few basic guidelines:

1. ALWAYS have reflective film on your walls, and close to your plants.
2. Keep paths at the perimeter of your room if possible, not in the middle of your room as the light levels near the walls are worst
3. Respect the minimal distance from the lamps
4. Remember that the bigger the room, the less the losses to the walls and the higher you can hang your lamps to create perfect uniformity and correct light levels without all the heat stress.

Are you saying that white paint is not reflective enough?

For those of you using this system are you guys using a different hood,bulb and ballast to veg with or just veg with the gavita? And do they make a Phillips de bulb with bluer spectrum like mh?

Do you happen to know if it's possible to order direct from you guys?

I work at a Hydro store and our current supplier, Sunlight Supply, has been out of stock for a little and I know of a few customers that have been wanting to buy the 1000's. Some even willing to pre-pay as long as we can even get them.

Come on!!! My shop has been on a waiting list for all most six months.... Cant wait any longer...GGGrrrrr.

we had numerous reports of people who were waiting for their fixtures and we regret that. We have taken actions however to assure that our distributors order more timely and keep a reasonable stock. I won't deny that they sell fast, but we do not have any backlog in production and we deliver what is ordered.

There is no grow-equivalent for the 1000W DE lamp. In many cases the veg time is so short that it won't make a big difference. You can always mix with plasma

plasma does not radiate much heat at all.

double ended lamps can only be used horizontal.

I think the perfect setup for one light would be to have it on a mover over a 4x8 table. Moving 1.5' in each direction with a short pause at each end.
The size of the fan will be highly dependant on the temperature of the incoming air. Keep in mind that filters and duct bends will have a significant impact on the amount of air movement.

yep, at 80 cm average around 960 umol @ 115% - which you should use because you have a lot of wall losses. 4x5 is possible too @ 100%
