Gas Prices Are Insane!!!!!

The Government has allowed the Oil Companies & Speculators to continue to fuck the people in the name of "corporate greed" and I see no end to this practice in my lifetime anyway.

As a simple person of average intelligence, I always ask myself why, "Is it costing me over $100 USD to fill-up my SUV, and the Oil Companies continue to set record profits each quarter"?

Of course, the Oil Companies Defence & Reason for price hikes at the pumps are always the same. Unrest in the middle-east, a storm developing off the South West Coast of Africa in the Atlantic, which may or may not even develop into a Hurricane much less ever make it way into the Gulf of Mexico and threaten the off-shore rig's, and refineries along the Gulf Coast. However, just another uncommon event which is unlikely to ever occur which allows our company to raise the price of our product, and make record profits!!!

However, it's theses absurd & ludicrous unrational arguments they continue to defend they're selfish self-seeking agenda, without any caps, limits, or negative consequences for they're actions. Oil Companies basically have a license to steal!

The oil speculators need to be abolished, flogged and driven from the land!! They are no different then a pit-boss at a crap table in Vegas, and cause more harm to the economy than good.

Bottom line. If a company is forced to raise the price of they're product, then they're cost of producing that product & doing business should increase, and the only way they can continue to make record profits is because it's all bull-shit, and no one is stopping them from basically stealing from the people.

They're Motto by which they live is "FUCK ALL & NO ONE CAN STOP US!!!"

in 1999 oil was $10 per barrel ..a few days ago it was $124

since 9/11 it has risen year on year to it's current record high

without getting all tinfoily, it kinda makes ya wonder who exactly flew those planes into the towers

like you say, there is no justifiable reason for $10-$124 price fluctuation in 13 yrs

well if co2 tax is agreeable, why not raise the shite out of car fuels... seems like soon enough only the rich will be able to drive around...

the real sad part in my opinion is, that food and all other upkeep costs of day to day living are coupled/linked to fuel prices... seems like social/financial/... reboot is dawning...

blessss
ps.: wait till governments find out, iran harbours the REAL saddam, gaddaffi, sama and crew, and yeah, elvis too ;)

Prices are currently all based on the following: speculation by commodity traders.

The key word here is "SPECULATION": Forming a theory WITHOUT firm evidence.

However, speculation is good enough for the government to allow oil-companies to legally steal from they're own people.

The U.S.of A. is exporting oil for the first time in 63 years, that means we have no,zero, zip, nada oil or gas shortage in America. The oil companines are pumping our oil out of our ground but they are not paying any taxes, royalties, or any monies to the people that acually own the oil. WE THE PEOPLE. Alaska told the oil companies back in the 70's when they built the pipeline that the oil in the ground belongs to the Alaskan people and the oil companies pay the Alaskan people a royalty on each and every gallon that flows down the pipeline. Last I checked, Chevron hasn't paid me a dime, nor has BP, 76 or any of the rest of the robbers.
We are currently producing more oil now than any time in the past ten years, we are exporting oil to other countries, we are importing less than 50% of our oil, but the price goes up, SPECULATION is driving the price, time to cut off the speculators call, write, email but PITCH A BITCH!!!!!! to your elected representative. We can achieve change when we all bitch loud enough, the politicians on both sides have discovered what their ears are for so fill their ears up with your anger. MY .02 if you don't vote and voice your opinion to your elected officials then you can't complain!!!!

Exxon has a spot in Alaska they're not drilling. They have the lease but they're not active. Could be because they can't proceed w/o paying what Alaska wants. The problem is Exxon has a lot more money than measly state budgets to tie up the courts. Alaska would like to lease to someone other than Exxon but they haven't managed to run Exxon off the spot.

Iraq refused to sign Bush's carbon law. The terms pissed em off so much they demanded we leave the country. Bush was unrealistic to think he could get western oil contracts on Arab land. Arab and other OPEC nations were screwed by western oil companies for decades before they nationalized their oil. Why would Iraq be so stupid to return to old-school western contracts?

We could nationalize US oil but capitalist executives would mount public disinformation campaigns about the perils of socialism/communism/fascism - all the isms into one, great big jism to bukkakke the airwaves and divide Americans.

The misinformation in this thread makes my head hurt.

US production peaked in the 1970s. It's been steadily declining since. We are a net importer of 9 mmbbl per day. Gasoline demand is down in the US, so refineries export gasoline to prevent their doors from closing. Refining is just one aspect of the oil industry. An oil company can be profitable... but have their refining operations in the toilet (evident by the recent refinery closures in the gulf and on the east coast). It's not like all their profits come from refining crude into gasoline... which some people tend to think.

Relative to the rest of the world, Americans enjoy low gas prices (and have for a long time). We're entering into an age of increasingly high gas prices. It's just something people are going to have to accept.

That's a promix machine. I know what you mean. I live in rural country and practically everybody has a need for size. A few commuters drive rice rockets and everybody else drives working vehicles.

Lol. My buddy's Chevy was mudd hopping in the woods and came along a stalled pickup in the creek. It was a ford. We offered a tow and the guy differed to whoever was on the way. I guess they drove a ford too.

A very interesting short examination of the mechanics of oil pricing.

http://usa-wethepeople.com/2012/02/how-do-gas-prices-increase/

He makes a very good case that the unprecedented printing of trillions of ethereal dollars will have a negative effect on pricing in general as well.

I warn you that oxen will gored whatever pet theories we may have as to how these things are determined but his bean-counting skills seem more than adequate to the task.

Print tons of money...stuff you need goes up in price. Inflation.
Austrian economics proves this fact as surely as night will follow day but I'm sure some will not choose to believe their own lying eyes in favor of approving technocrats monkeying around with monetary policy to distort market pricing.
After all, these geniuses at the wheel are the smartest guys in the room, right?
