price in northern minnesota was $3.56 today, using a specific cc & additionally a competitors coupon took 7 cents more off of that.......

We've dropped substantially, like around .40/gallon. $4.29 today in NorCal.

that just might have something to do with the fact that Bush was a ceo of an oil company.......

Lowest price today I saw. $3.23 if you pay in cash. Average price around town is $3.39. It has just recently gone down about $.14 over the past week or so.

Obama has as much control over the price per gallon as I do. How bout its the oil companies that are screwing everyone. They make record and I mean record profits and the say they can't drill for new oil if they don't get their corporate welfare to the tune of 3-4 billion dollars a year. So the people get shafted again by the oligarchy.

The future belongs to fracking ... and better methods of capture

Thru these new methods - North America has enough oil for the next 100 + years

No more Middle East imports ... oil and gas prices will come down significantly from where they are now ... productivity and jobs in North America will go up

California is unique in that they have strict fuel specifications. The EPA has specs and then states vary on what they will allow (usually based on climate and population density). Cold sparsely population regions typically have different requirements than hot densely population regions (i.e. California).

This is why when refineries blow up (i.e. recent fires at 2 CA refineries), California just can't siphon gas from other states. It won't meet the specs. Gas prices go up. They're choked off from other states.

To compound this problem, there is very little spare refining capacity. Nobody makes money refining. Profit margins are either very small, non-existent, or in the red. To make any money, refineries are utilizing all their capacity all the time. When there's disruptions at refineries... they can't just bring spare capacity online - there isn't any. Prices go up until repairs can be made.

CA is going to have to deal with this problem for a while. The only solution really is to relax regulations (and deal with more air pollution/smog) or more fuel efficient vehicles.

Actually I say a special recently that claims America is on the verge of an energy boom in the next 10 years regardless of who becomes President and when it's over we will be the largest exporter of hydrocarbons in the world.

If I'm not mistaken I believe Kuwait payed the USA $40 billion for their services in aiding the liberation of Kuwait from Saddam Hussein.

A lot of cannabis fueled rants in here.

You may be right about fracking being the future. Here is the problem. The companies fracking are foreign companies like shell. Fracking is a fucking disaster. Its ruining the water supply in a lot of places. It contributes as much or more greenhouse effect due to the release of methane. Most of the gas is being sold to foreign countries due to higjer prices there. Eventually our prices will have to come up to what everyone else is paying. And when its all over you will be paying more for water than you do for gas. A good series on the is gassland 1 &2
