fuk dubai!

yeah like i said...

"i'd say dubai is the last place on earth i would ever want to visit."

i'm gonna make sure if a ever travel by a plane again, that there won't even be a stop at place like dubai and would suggest this to anyone else also.

"British resident Cat Le-Huy was arrested in Dubai for carrying Melatonin jet-lag tablets, which are sold over the counter in the US and Dubai.

Mr Le-Huy told BBC News he was forced to sign a document in Arabic and was refused a translator."

someone was talking about hypocrisy, eh?

and on the subject of building those islands.. well personally i still pretty much agree with the scientist even though everyone seems to be bashing him. of course there are people/corporations/countries raping the living hell out of the world everywhere but it doesn't make dubai any better. i mean c'mon, building islands that look like the world or whatever, for rich people to go there and do whatever it is that they do there. such a waste, there are thousands of beautiful islands across the globe to visit and IMHO there is no need to construct crap like that.

peace.

Please be careful advocating restricting a country or person's freedom to do XXX with their money, even if XXX is "wasteful" or "there is no need..."

Aren't we on a website where we argue for our own freedom to do XXX, even while many others say our activities are "wasteful" and "there is no need..."?

Now, with that said --- I've lived in a number of countries on a number of continents, and I'm sure as #$%^ in no hurry to move to Dubai...

that "palm island" is pretty crazy tho.

i dont think it will withstand the test of time, and they better not piss anyone off, or that chunk of sand will easily become ocean floor again.

well i think there's nothing wrong with boycotting a place like dubai and saying it aloud. everybody knows worlds energy resources are running low and will come to an end eventually. there will come a time when we all have to start living more simple kind of way and the times of technology and progress will be over, at least the way we know it. i myself recognize this and try to live my life consuming as less as i can.

to me there is a big difference between spending millions of dollars of building shit that WILL sink to the bottom of the ocean maybe just in a few decades, and cultivating a herb that many people consider their medicine. for many people cannabis is irreplaceable tool to live their life the way they want including me. spending a holiday on a island looking like a palm is not.

Three years ago myself and a couple of my colleagues were offered job's in Dubai and we all turned them down, not because of any reason other than not wanting to live there. They can waste as much as they like, I could care less, I just dont know how they expect to rely on tourist dollars when the oil runs out with laws like that. And from someone that has been an avid golfer for over 40 years, theres alot of great golf courses within a few minutes of my home and in other countries throughout the world!

Could you imagine packing your bags for a holiday in Dubai and sitting on that flight for 17 hours wondering if there is any microscopic weed residue on your luggage! There are to many other places to go with much nicer beaches and more weed friendly laws.

Who wants to go to a fucking desert on vacation with no weed?

Oh my God. In Dubai they are building islands. They are reclaiming land from the sea. Those evil bastards!!!! Wait a minute.! Haven't the Dutch been doing that for a couple hundred years? Oh my God.! Those Evil Dutch bastards. Don't they realize that a whale could just be swimming along, minding its own business, and trip on one of those islands. Those evil, evil bastards!!!!!

It is so easy to criticize others and say they are wrong...Is Dubai any different from any of us though??? Do the people not want happiness in their own way? Do they not want their families to be safe? Do they not want food and shelter?

Now lets get to the leaders?? Are they any different from us and our leaders, do they not tell us what to do? Do they tell us of all their plans for construction and destruction on and of our environments? Do they not think of their pockets first and then the people who are rich second, the middle class third and the poor last???

How is Dubai's projects any more harmful than Exxon with their oil spills.....Both wrong I agree but our leaders are the one making the mistakes not the people.....Money rules, thats all they care about....

This is just the way it is...Unless the people get together and say no more in our countries and others nothing will ever change....We keep waiting for some great leader to take us to a higher place, or we live foolishly thinking our country is better and we are at that higher place. In any case we are the leaders, us ,each of us has the potential to lead and make a change... We have to stop criticizing eachother and realize our handlers are the ones to blame here.....Death to the machine, bring back the villages..

Injustice is every where, but can you find the answers alone???

The Scientist said:
MAKING ISLANDS? Come on. That is horrible. That's just the tip of the iceburg, too.

I really dont understand what your problem is with the man made Islands? It's no worse than all the dredging along the coast that we do in the US due to beach erosion. Why is this such a horrible thing?

But it's well cheap and the golf courses are amazing.
If I'm not mistaken it's one of the most expensive places to live, the homes are selling to multi-millionaires & billionaires as they're the only ones who can afford it.

Is it cheap to visit then? I've seen the shows about the building of the islands and homes & the prices quoted were crazy, or perhaps for the shock value only the highest priced homes were mentioned....... ?

Just saying, but Dubai is a much safer place than the rest of the surrounding area.
As Bill Maher says "las vegas of the middle east"
