It's a sad topic really, and even worse some of the comments left by people on the news article. Check out the other thread. I posted some of the comments left by people. It's a crazy world we live in, and even crazier that a plant that was once able to grow freely in the wild is now getting people taken away from their families and friends, and for such a little amount!

Have been to Dubai a few times now. My family live there. And the freedom that i have felt, especially driving off from the 18th, is second to that only of the feeling you get from a pan-galactic gargle blaster.

It's a culture of waste over there as well as indulgence, and they're making islands for crying out loud. That disrupts the balance of the ocean's ecosystems.. It's yet another group of people trumping the environment, and in a huge way, compared to how the most of us live on this earth.

Have a bit of perspective Scientist. I'd rather they do it in Dubai than in a unique place of biodiversity, say Madacasgar or Galapagos. I'm not advocating what they do but the world is a growing place and sadly the environment will always come second, at least in our lifetime.

So what, those stats are bunk because the actions of those in Dubai clearly promote waste. I don't care if other countries are worse, it doesn't permit Dubai to rape the land and promote the raping of it.

Sammet, your comment is a 'look on the bright side' comment and I agree with it, but that doesn't mean I'm still not disgusted at the actions of those in Dubai.
