ballasts

ballasts

yesterday i put all my ballasts in the attic and dropped the cords through holes in the ceiling. i'll seal the holes last in case i decide to reconfigure

so the ballasts went into the attic to reduce the heat in the room.

you can see the manifold and fan for the aircooling too

yesterday i also cleaned and installed all the glass for the hoods.

i also started to set up the entrance room for my resevoir

So your using 2 8" fans or 1 for cooling those lights?

I'm guessing 2 for that much wattage.

Your gonna have 9 600's right?

I like the organization of the ballasts in the attic with cords dropped through and the sweet looking manifold setup. More info on how your gonna keep the room cool would be cool..

Have fun & Stay safe

got the a/c in there now... its a sears kenmore 12000 btu dual hose portable

i insulated the heat exhaust becasue the hose was alway hot and thus heat was escaping back into the room. intake from the wall, exhasut through the ceiling

Sweet you should be all good with that 12000btu A/C. How much did that thing cost?

That insulated ducting is so pricy, but that's a great idea to use it on the a/c exhaust.

So the 10" ventaxia w/ the pig comes on when temps get too high right?

Are you using some sort of environmental controller to trigger this?

Seems like with a setup like that you should be able to pull more than .5 grams/watt.
Especially since your goin sealed room stylee w/ co2.

I reckon you'll pull at least 5-6 lbs with that room. That'd be fun. With some tweaking and a good strain you could get it up to 9 probably after a couple cycles.

the a/c was about $800, i scrimped and saved
the pig is on 24/7 to scrub the air. theres no environmental control per se, but there is a matador CO2 monitor

test run + CO2 gen problem and fix

test run + CO2 gen problem and fix

it seems almost everything but the oscillating fans are ready to go. yesterday i did a test run with all the lights and it got up to 87F without the A/C on. i lit the CO2 gennie only to discover the pilot wouldnt stay lit. so i phoned my friend who is a propane specialist and he said the thermocoupler is probably shot and they're real cheap to replace. mine is fairly new, 2 years or less so he suggested to clean it. i sanded it with emory cloth and made it all shiny again and voila! it works fine. sorry no pics, i was frustrated and forgot to stop for documentation

lady's night

lady's night

my little ladies came last night! a week earlier then expected, but i cant complain

the ones with the cups on top are a little behind the others but they're all healthy.

i did discover thrips on some, so i'll spray some endall on them and then get predators

note the yellow sticky card installation. i used to use a twist tie and tie it to a light or cord or something but the fans would always whip it around and inevitably it would get stuck. so i drilled a hole in the 2x4 that is the side of the table and stuck a bamboo stake in it. i drilled some holes in the sticky trap and tied it to the stake, now it wont blow around and i can move it out the way if i need to.

here is my CO2 gennie and matador CO2 monitor

the CO2 gennie is not working right again.. the pilot wont stay lit so i think i'll go but a new thermocoupler and replace the old one... this time with pikkies hopefully

i also installed a "jet fan" to circulate the air up-down in the room to help circulate the CO2 which is heavier than air and therefore sinks

Whats a co2 genie?I use a cyclestat to control frequency and duration of burn with my green air propane generator. You can use it with green air co2 generators and it gives you ambient co2 levels? If thats true I want one.

its not a genie, its a gennie, im too lazy to type generator. i used to cycle but cycling is inefficient. the matador pictured above measures and regulates the CO2. one end plugs into the wall, the other into to green-air CD6. it costs about $900 though, i saved for a long time, and it paid off!
